Meet Tellia!Personality: Turbo-Charged Cuddle BugLikes: Running like she’s late for something importantTellia is the perfect size and an absolute blast to be around. This girl is all about fun—she can really run and lives for zooming around the play yard. Blink and you might miss her… you’ve honestly never seen a dog move this fast! She appears to be house-trained, already knows sit, and is highly treat-motivated, which makes her a joy to work with and a great candidate for continued training. After getting her daily dose of exercise, Tellia is more than happy to trade speed for snuggles and soak up some well-earned cuddle time.Fun Fact: Scientists are still trying to determine if Tellia has four legs or a hidden jet engine. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, athletic companion who will keep you smiling, moving, and cuddling every day, Tellia is ready to race straight into your heart.

When staff would try walking her she was very reactive while on leash showing aggression towards other dogs as well as people. We agreed to bring her in to work with her and see if she could get past that. We found she was severely under socialized and reactive on leash. She has been with us for quite a while now and has made remarkable progress. She is an absolutely amazing young girl but will need someone who can continue with introducing her to new people and animals so she can continue building her confidence.   Current Behavior: Goose has learned how fun other dogs can be. Her best friend is a large male German Shepherd who she absolutely adores. However, she does seem to have some issues with certain dogs and will need someone willing to continue working on her socialization skills with other animals. She would do best in a home with a large confident male dog she can learn from and play with. She did not like the female husky she met here so she might not do as well with other female dogs - at least not initially. She has met several people and is amazing with an introduction to them. She also did wonderful at the vet when we went. She will show aggression towards strangers at the gate.   Goose is an amazing young girl who learns quickly and is very treat motivated. She has mastered fetch and tug in the time she has been here. She ignores the cats and is the type of girl who stays right next to her loved one. I can open the gate and she will stay by my side as we walk around on the ditch. She also has wonderful recall to a whistle and/or her name.  Goose is leash trained, crate trained, house trained, dog door trained, and eager to please. She does have some separation anxiety so will need a secure crate when her loved one must leave her alone - not a typical wire crate but a heavy duty bar crate. She has been loose in the house and has done well if I leave for short periods but initially she should have a crate until she learns the rules of the house. I have left her and her bestie outside when I run errands and she does wonderfully. She will bark and whine when she can hear me outside - so an apartment might not be an ideal situation. But other than that I think she is a wonderful, extremely intelligent girl who loves her family and is just a sponge for knowledge. She is an absolute gem with children - when the grandchildren are around she is glued to their sides keeping an eye on them.     Spayed, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations Adoption Fee $200 We do welcome out-of-state adoptions. Adopters must make arrangements to come out to meet and complete the adoption. The link to our online application is at the top of the bio or you can send an email to request the application or download it from the main site www.almosthomenm.org and email it to adopt@almosthomenm.org Dogs are seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved. If you have other dogs it is recommended you bring them out to to the meeting.  Steps for adoption: Read bio, complete the application, once approved you will receive an email asking you when you would like to come out to meet the pet, we will schedule an appointment, and then directions will be emailed to you. Adoption fees are cash only.   If you would like to provide toys and snacks for the dogs in our care while they wait for their happily ever afters we would truly appreciate it.
