Story
A second chance Cinderella story Sometimes the new beginnings in life for the puppies in this world are not the warm and fuzzy starts we wish for them. Gunnerman's story began in the hands of a homeless person who had temporary housing but unfortunately did not have the resources to provide this young puppy with the veterinary care and stability he needed. Gunnerman had a wound on his face that required medical attention, and thankfully, he received the care he desperately needed only to soon afterward have his owner get evicted.  The call came to us that Gunnerman was now outside with his owner and nowhere to go with no safe place to call home. That is when Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in again, along with a kind foster dad who opened his heart and home to this handsome brindle boy. Together, we are determined to give Gunnerman the second chance he deserves and find him a strong, dog-savvy family who understands his needs and will surround him with love, guidance, and the steadfast certainty that his future will be a good one.We believe Gunnerman is a Malinois Shepherd mix, a type of Shepherd that many people may not be familiar with. Malinois are known for their intelligence, loyalty, athleticism, and incredible devotion to their people. They are quick learners and form very strong bonds with the humans they love. Gunner is already showing us those wonderful qualities at just about four months old. This boy is a lover of people and other creatures. We have not had the opportunity to introduce him to cats yet, but because he is still so young and has such a friendly, open personality, we believe that with the proper introduction, he could potentially become a cat's best friend and protector. Of course, any cat introduction would need to be done carefully and responsibly.Gunnerman has plenty to learn about life, but one thing he already does beautifully is bond with his person. He greets new experiences with curiosity, interest, and a happy smile. This boy is definitely not a shrinking violet! Gunnerman is ready to march off into the day with excitement and anticipation for whatever fun and adventure comes next.We anticipate that Gunnerman will grow into a handsome 50-pound adult, and we believe he is going to be one of the most loyal companions a family could ask for. He is working on his housebreaking and doing well with it, and like any young Shepherd mix, he will need continued training, structure, exercise, mental stimulation, and someone who will patiently help him become the wonderful adult dog he is destined to be.We do require that Gunnerman's forever family have a fenced and secure backyard where he can safely run, roam, explore, and smell all the wonderful things the great outdoors has to offer. Curiosity is definitely part of this boy's Shepherd heritage, and Gunner loves using his nose to investigate the world around him.We think Gunnerman is going to have a true Cinderella story. He started life without the security and stability every puppy deserves, but his story is changing now. We are so excited to watch this beautiful boy grow, learn, bond, and blossom into the loyal and devoted companion we know he can become.Gunnerman's future is waiting for him, and he will be forever grateful to the person or family who gives him the life he has always deserved. And so will all of us at Critter Cavalry Rescue. If you believe you may be the right forever home for this special boy, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Story
Both Lovey and her sister came to us from a local family who had an accidental litter. Mom is a chocolate Lab and dad is a Belgian Malinois. Lovey has been in Foster for most of the summer and this is what her Foster Momma has had to say: She is a real sweetie. She mastered going to the bathroom outside and she is awesome on a leash. She has a lot of energy but considering she is still a puppy, that is to be expected. She wants to know where her people are but she is crate trained, sleeps through the night with no accidents. Overall, she is so sweet and cuddly but also love to play and run. They would do best in a home with a breed experienced owner as Malinois are a very high strong breed. Though we have been continuing to work on her training, she will need advanced training and will need to be with an active family who can keep their little minds busy! She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed and current on flea, tick and heartworm prevention. Apply to adopt today! https://tally.so/r/LZ0ZLp Kennel ID #01658

Story
Luca is the total package and then some. This handsome 2 1/2-year-old Belgian Shepherd mix weighs 72 pounds and is ready to find the forever family he's been waiting for. Luca came to the shelter through no fault of his own after being abandoned by his owner with a family member who was unable to keep or care for him. While his past may have been uncertain, Luca hasn't let it dim his bright spirit or his love for people. Ask his volunteers about him, and you'll quickly see why he's a favorite. Luca has enjoyed day trips, sleepovers, and visits to volunteers' homes, where he's proven himself to be an easy, lovable companion. He adores spending time with his people, whether that's going for walks, riding in the car, playing with toys, working on food puzzles, collecting treats, or simply soaking up belly rubs. Luca is wonderfully well-mannered, walks beautifully on leash, settles nicely in a crate, and is happiest when he's included in whatever his people are doing. He's the kind of dog who can join you for an adventure and then happily curl up for a nap afterward. While Luca would prefer to be your one and only dog, he has more than enough love, loyalty, and personality to fill your entire home. If you're looking for a devoted best friend, a constant companion, and a dog who checks all the boxes, Luca may just be your perfect match. Come meet Luca and see for yourself why everyone who knows him falls in love. He will come neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. If you are serious about adoption, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $400. Story
Looking for a loyal sidekick who's always ready for the next adventure? Meet Cheese. This striking 5-year-old Belgian Shepherd weighs about 75 pounds and has all the qualities that make shepherd lovers fall head over heels: intelligence, athleticism, loyalty, and a heart full of love for his people. Rescued from a local shelter, Cheese has quickly shown us what a wonderful dog he is. He's social, friendly, and genuinely enjoys spending time with people. He greets his volunteer friends with enthusiasm, allows all handling, and approaches life with the confidence and curiosity that make Belgian Shepherds such incredible companions. Cheese is a strong, active boy who loves taking in the world around him. Whether it's a hike through the woods, a long walk around the neighborhood, a weekend road trip, or simply being included in daily life, Cheese wants to be right there by your side. He's not looking for a home where he'll be left behind. He's looking for a family that sees their dog as part of every adventure. This handsome guy would thrive with an active family that appreciates both his intelligence and his zest for life. In return, you'll get a devoted companion, an eager adventure partner, and a best friend who will always be excited to see you. Cheese has spent enough time waiting. Now he's ready to find his people and start the next chapter of his life. Could that be with you? He will come neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested.
