Story
Meet Bear Bear is an estimated 3-year-old Belgian Malinois looking for a very specific kind of home — one that understands his breed, his needs, and the commitment required to help him succeed. This isn’t your average “easygoing” dog post, because Bear isn’t an average dog — and that’s okay.Belgian Malinois are incredibly intelligent, driven, and loyal dogs who thrive with structure, purpose, and guidance. Bear will need an experienced owner who understands the breed and is ready to provide consistency, routine, and continued training while building a strong foundation of trust.* Bear cannot be placed with other dogs or cats.* Bear should not be placed in a home with young children.* He will do best with someone dedicated to working with him and helping him feel secure in his environment.* He needs leadership, patience, and someone willing to invest the time to help him reach his full potential. What we see in Bear is a dog who wants to connect — but he needs the right person to help him feel safe, understood, and successful. For the right home, Bear has the potential to be an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion. If you have experience with Belgian Malinois or similar working breeds and are ready for a dog that requires commitment and understanding, Bear may be waiting for you.

Story
Meet Elsa – A Belgian Malinois Ready for Her First Real Life Elsa is a 3-year-old purebred Belgian Malinois who is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, kennel trained, and fully housebroken. For the first three years of her life, Elsa knew only chains and overbreeding. She was denied freedom, affection, and the chance to simply be a dog. Despite that, she emerged with a heart full of joy and an unbreakable spirit. Elsa is energetic, happy, and delightfully goofy. She is submissive, loves playing with other dogs, and absolutely thrives on attention. She wants to be close to her people and would love nothing more than to be your number one girl. She’s affectionate, eager, and always ready to turn a moment into a celebration. This “crazy happy” girl is discovering life with excitement and gratitude, and she’s looking for a home that understands the Malinois breed and can give her the structure, enrichment, and love she has always deserved. Elsa doesn’t just want a home. She wants a family, a purpose, and a future that finally belongs to her. If you’re ready to give Elsa the life she was denied and receive unwavering loyalty in return, she’s ready to meet you. Apply to adopt Elsa and be the happy ending to her story.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 7, 2026, 2:43 pm

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 2/10/26 Denise This beautiful girl is about 12 weeks old. Her mom is a Belgian Malinois (pictured at the end). Dad is a stray tri colored mixed breed. Denise was previously living outside with her siblings (because that’s the only option we had for them) but now she’s in a new foster home and quickly getting used to living inside. She seems to already be starting to get the hang of house training. She is good with other dogs. She loves to play with toys and often grabs a toy and entertains herself. As with most puppies, she’d like to find out what shoes taste like. She is a little shy at first but is a sweet, friendly pup. She adores the toddler in her foster home! She hasn’t been around cats but given she’s just a puppy, she should be just fine. Denise seems to be a smart girl and is definitely food motivated! Given her mom’s breed, she will need a family who will invest some time into training her and working with her so she can grow up to be the best she can be. Spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. In New England. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message us or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions. Please note: We do not transport dogs. Approved adopters will schedule an appointment for a meet-and-greet at People 'n' Pets, Freeze Dried Goodies & Gear in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, where you’ll get to meet Tide in person — and hopefully take home your new best friend. If you think Tide might be “the one,” we’d love to hear from you! Health & Background &#226&#156&#133 Neutered &#226&#156&#133 Rabies and all core vaccines up to date &#226&#156&#133 Heartworm/Tick 4DX test: Negative across the board &#226&#156&#133 On monthly flea/tick preventatives &#226&#156&#133 Microchipped &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143 Weight: potential 50-60 pounds Estimated DoB: 23 May 2025 Meet Tide Tide is truly an amazing boy. He has a full package of looks, personality, and yes — he’s a master manipulator! Even after multiple visits to the emergency hospital in Southern Maine, all the staff fell in love with him. One vet even emailed his information to a colleague in New Hampshire just to share what a special pup he is. Medical Background As a young puppy, Tide developed weakness in his legs and, at one point, couldn’t stand or walk. After several trips to the emergency hospital and various treatments, he was diagnosed with two growth-related bone conditions: Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD) and Panosteitis. Panosteitis (sometimes called “growing pains”) is a temporary, painful inflammation of the long bones that affects young, fast-growing dogs, particularly large-breed mixes like Tide. Symptoms include shifting lameness and discomfort in the legs. Panosteitis is self-limiting, meaning it usually resolves on its own as the dog matures, typically by 18–24 months. Treatment focuses on managing pain and rest during flare-ups. Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD) is another painful bone condition seen in fast-growing puppies. It can cause fever, swelling, thickened bones, lameness, and general discomfort. The exact cause isn’t fully understood, but genetics, nutrition, and infections may all play a role. Most dogs improve as they finish growing, and severe cases are treated with medications, rest, and sometimes hospitalization. Surgery is rarely needed. Tide is currently on prednisone to manage inflammation and pain, and he is thriving! Prednisone is generally used during flare-ups or when symptoms are more pronounced. As he grows and his bones stabilize, he may not need medication continuously — likely only intermittently for temporary stiffness during growth spurts. By around 2 years old, he is expected to be completely done with active symptoms from both conditions. Even when he couldn’t walk as a puppy, Tide’s sweet personality shone through. He would drag himself around to enjoy attention from vets and staff, and now he’s a playful, confident, and mischievous pup. He sometimes gets a little stiff during growth spurts, but these flare-ups are temporary, and he responds well to medication and rest. Personality & Temperament Tide is a gentle, loving, and affectionate pup. He’s full of confidence and mischief, loves attention, and thrives in an active environment. Despite his medical history, he is playful, curious, and completely puppy at heart. He enjoys interacting with people and other dogs, and he’s always ready to bring joy and energy into his home. Best Buddies Tide is inseparable from his sister Robin. Whether cuddling up for naps or getting into mischief, these two are always together. We would love to see them adopted as a pair so they can continue sharing adventures and companionship in their forever home. Adoption Details Adoption Fee: $550 Location: Sebec, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire. Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet Tide. &#226&#143&#177&#239&#184&#143 Applications are generally processed within 24-48 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of Tide?
