Story
Hi!  My name is Stella. I am a 2 yrs old spayed Shepherd mix and I am 45 pounds. I was rescued at the very last minute of scheduled euthanasia at the highkill shelter in Los Angeles! Thanks to AllJoy4paws Rescue for saving my life! I am currently learning to live my best life with my foster family in San Diego. This is what my foster mom says about me: PERSONALITY: Stella is such a beautiful girl packed with personality.  Stella is an affectionate, sweet, loving, and spunky girl.  She is curious, has lots of energy, enjoys playtime, and loves attention. In fact, she wants ALL of the attention.   She wants to please and is very eager to please.  Whether it is going on long walks, or adventures outside, she will be ready to join in on the fun.   Stella benefits from mental stimulation and is a quick, and eager learner.  She knows the command “sit” when presented with her food or a treat. She is potty trained, has all her shots, is on flea medication, and is spayed. She has been learning to relax in the crate.  If she needs to be left alone, she doesn’t seem to mind napping in her comfy crate.  She has been fine left alone at home without being inside of the crate, but the crate is beneficial for her to relax.  She sleeps in the crate at night. Stella will prance and nudge your hand and want to be your companion, she is non-aggressive and bonds fast. BEHAVIOR: Don’t judge this sweet girl.  She may seem overly excited but that is because she is only 22 months old.  She is strong and has a deep voice. Stella is living with her human mom and dad, human brother and sister, and her 18 pound Maltese mix doggie brother named Charlie.  Stella is learning to share with Charlie.  She plays appropriately with him.  She can get jealous at times.  Charlie is quite smaller than Stella, and Stella likes to use her front paws to play with him.  She opens her mouth over him, and although it looks scary, she is only trying to tease him. Stella engages and initiates play activity with Charlie and will sometimes even jump over him.   She is polite and will not beg for food. Stella likes to relax on her dog bed, in her open crate, or anywhere on the floor. She redirects well and will listen to the command “Off” as she is learning not to jump on people nor the inside furniture.  She listens well and is learning not to go up the steps, and is learning not to sleep in Charlie’s bed. Stella needs a forever home, to be an inside dog (with access to outside) with a loving family that is willing to walk and exercise with her. Although she loves dog companions, if she gets lots of human attention, she will also do well as the only doggie in the house. She is learning proper leash skills.  With additional leash training, Stella will make a great addition to a fur-ever family. Currently being cared in Southern California, Stella is ready to embark on a new journey, willing to be transported to everywhere within the US continental, where a wonderful, suitable family awaits to shower her with love and care, and give her the life she deserves.

Story
The Chance of a Lifetime! Hi pals! I’m Chance — a 2-year-old, 87-pound German Shepherd with a heart full of hope and a whole lot of love. My name isn’t just a name…it’s a promise. After everything I’ve been through, I’m here because someone gave me a second chance — and now I’m hoping you will too! I didn’t have the easiest start. I came from a place where I was chained up, starving, and left to chew whatever I could just to survive — rocks, concrete, whatever was near. By the time I was rescued, I was in ruff shape: malnourished, in pain, swollen with abscesses, and with most of my teeth broken down to the gum. TAP saw something in me. They gave me months of medical care, multiple surgeries, and more love than I’d ever known. Today? I’m healthy, pain-free, and finally able to enjoy life the way a dog should. Health-wise, I’ve got a couple of things to keep in mind. I have a heart condition that makes me sensitive to anesthesia — nothing scary day-to-day, but any future procedures need an experienced vet who’ll monitor my cardiovascular health. I don’t need meds, just awareness. I eat a soft diet but you’d never know it watching me chow down — especially with how excited I get (expect a little dance and song)! Despite everything I’ve been through, I’m the happiest boy. I love dogs — every shape, size, and energy level — and I’d do great with another playful pup! I haven’t been around many kids, but I’ve been super sweet with the ones I’ve met. I’m goofy, submissive, and always up for a game of tug-of-war or some zoomies at the park. When it’s time to relax you’ll find me curled up on the couch, tongue hanging out (I don’t have many teeth left to keep it in!). I’m potty trained and I’ll admit — I pull on the leash when I get excited, but I’m eager! I’ve been through a lot, and I do best in a home where someone is around most of the time or where I’ve got a doggy buddy to hang out with. I’m still healing emotionally and companionship means the world to me. Why take a chance on me? I’ve already shown what resilience looks like. I’ve been failed by humans before, but I still love them with everything I’ve got. I’m goofy, loyal, and full of gratitude for every belly rub and cozy nap. I deserve to finally feel safe, cherished, and free to just be a dog! If you’re ready to be the lucky one who gives me my second “Chance,” I promise I’ll be the most devoted, loving companion you’ve ever met! My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/ ##2197184##

Hi, I’m Kabru! I’m a 3-year-old, 73-pound German Shepherd mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. My journey started at Pasadena Humane as part of a fire relief effort before I made my way to TAP. I spent about three months in the shelter before getting my second chance, and now I’m ready to find my forever home! I’m a lovable, high-energy goofball who’s always ready for fun! I’m smart, affectionate, and love being the center of attention—but I’ll admit, I can be a little mischievous too (in the most charming way, of course). I thrive in an active home that keeps me engaged, and while I sometimes struggle with focus and have a little separation anxiety, I have so much potential! I’d do great with structure, training, and even a job to keep me busy. Whether it’s a long hike, a trip to the brewery, or an evening walk by the bay, I’m always up for an adventure! I’m already crate, leash, and potty trained, though I’m still working on getting even better on leash. Some of my favorite things? Kongs, tug-of-war, and long sniffy walks! I’m looking for an active family who has the time and patience to help me grow into the best companion I can be. I’d love a home with older kids and larger dog friends who can keep up with my energy and help show me how to be a polite gentleman. With the right guidance and plenty of playtime, I know I’ll make an amazing adventure buddy and loyal best friend. Could that be you? My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. Story
Sweet girl ready to build a life! Hi there! My name is Baylee, and I’m a 7-year-old, 90-pound German Shepherd with a big heart and an even bigger personality. I was rescued from a shelter when I was about 2, and since then, I've been learning what love, patience, and a good game of fetch are all about. I’m bathroom and leash trained, though I’ll admit I can be a little reactive on walks. I’ve got some leash aggression and food aggression, things I’ve been working on, but I’ll need a patient, experienced human who understands me and is willing to keep helping me grow. I’ve lived with other dogs before, an older male shepherd mix and a sassy little female Pom, so I’m dog-friendly! That said, I do best when I’m the only dog in the home. I’ve got a bit of a protective streak and like to have all the attention and adventure for myself. I haven’t been around kids or cats, so I’m not quite sure how I’d do with them. Health-wise, I have anal fistulas that have almost resolved completely, and sometimes get skin infections, but with the right care and a regular routine, I still live a happy, active life. I LOVE brain games like food puzzles and going on fetch missions. I’m playful, curious, and happiest when I’m with someone who gives me time, attention, and structure. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will stick by your side, go on adventures, and remind you how special a bond with a dog can be, I might just be your girl. I’ve come a long way, and I’m ready for a forever home where I can be the center of your world, because I promise you’ll be the center of mine. Let’s make a life together. My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. Story
Meet Pumpkin: From Feral to Fabulous. When Pumpkin first arrived, she was a ghost of a dog—shut down, unsure, and utterly heartbroken. She was 9 months old when we saved her and her sister from a high-kill shelter in LA. They were the tiniest dogs we'd ever seen. They were like real-life stuffed animals. When Pumpkin first arrived, she was only 24 lbs at 9 months old! She was so shut down, avoiding eye contact for the fear of being noticed, and moved like a shadow, silent and scared. But even then, there was a spark in her eyes, a tiny ember of hope. Now, at ruffly 1 y/o, this Malinois mix who had only learned that the world was a scary place is now thriving in her foster home. With time, patience, and the gentle guidance of her foster fur siblings, Pumpkin is learning what it means to feel safe. She’s learning that hands can offer LUV, that voices can be kind, and that not all humans are to be feared. Her progress is nothing short of remarkable—day by day, step by step, she’s beginning to let LUV in. Pumpkin LUVS other dogs. They are her comfort zone. Her role models and her security blankets. A confident canine friend in her furever home will help her continue to blossom. She’s still shy with people, but give her time and space, and she’ll reward you with the most beautiful kind of loyalty and LUV. Pumpkin is ready for a family who sees past her ruff beginning and into the heart of a survivor. Someone who will celebrate the little wins: the first tail wag, the first nuzzle, the first moment she chooses you. She’s not just learning to live. She’s learning to trust. And that makes her story one of the most beautiful we’ve ever told. Pumpkin is looking for a forever home with: Another friendly dog (or dogs) to show her the ropes A calm, patient environment A family that believes in second chances This is Pumpkin’s redemption story.
