Story
When Eddie first arrived at the shelter, he was nervous around new people and unfamiliar dogs. Since moving into foster care, he’s made incredible progress through positive reinforcement training, building confidence, improving his leash skills, and learning to focus on his handler even when distractions are around.Eddie currently lives with a well-mannered female Boxer mix and enjoys her company. He is also living with a cat, though he does have a tendency to chase if a cat runs, so a home without cats—or with a very dog-savvy cat—would be the best fit.His absolute favorite thing in the world? Fetch. If you want to win Eddie over, bring a ball. Playing fetch is his favorite way to bond with people, and while he tends to warm up to women more quickly, patient adopters willing to let him build trust at his own pace will discover an incredibly loyal companion. Eddie has successfully walked in semi-crowded areas around children, men, and other dogs without reactivity. He tolerates nail trims reasonably well, especially when cheese is involved. :yum: Like many shepherd mixes, he occasionally gets the zoomies, so a fenced yard where he can run, play fetch, and burn off energy would be ideal. At home, Eddie is housebroken and can be trusted loose in the house as long as the garbage is secured. He’s not a fan of kennels, but he loads up nicely in the car and enjoys coming along for adventures.Eddie is looking for an experienced adopter with calm handling skills, patience, and a commitment to continuing his positive reinforcement training. In return, you’ll get a loyal best friend who will happily chase a ball, share your couch, and stick by your side through it all. If you’re willing to earn his trust, Eddie will absolutely be your ride-or-die.
