Story
Meet Chamba! He's a 2-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog / Miniature Poodle mix whose family has gone through an unexpected change, and Chamba needs a new home. Chamba was born November 19, 2021 in Montrose, CO. His mom is a 120-lb. Bernese Mountain Dog and his Dad is a 12-lb. Poodle! Chamba ended up being 90 lbs. -- a nice midpoint between Mom and Dad. Chamba LOVES cold weather and snow and would be happiest in a place where it snows a lot of the year. He's not a fan of the sun and heat, and is always seeking shade. He goes for a walk every day and is a strong boy, so his people are looking for adopter(s) who can match his strength while Chamba is on leash. He knows how to ring a bell to let you know when he wants to go outside and come back in. The bells will be provided to his adopter(s) so they have the correct ring. He's been going to a wonderful trainer where he's been learning his doggie cues and doggie boundaries around the other dog and kitty in the household. Ideally, Chamba will need a calm household with a training structure. He'd love to have another big dog to play with but would also be happy on his own. A small dog, kitty or young child in the home wouldn't work for this big boy, so we're saying No Cats, Small Dogs or Kids in the House, please and thanks. (A teenager might be OK.) Chamba is neutered, housetrained, crate-trained (where he sleeps overnight and when his people aren't home), doesn't shed, and he's up to date on his doggie shots. If needed, Chamba's crate can accompany him when he goes to his new home. He's currently living with his people in Carbondale, CO, but can be transported to the Boulder area if needed. For more info and/or to apply to adopt Chamba, send us an email at summitdogrescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.

Story
Oh so warm in her wintry white coat, 1.5-year-old K’La has bloomed in her foster home. Despite her initial shyness around strangers, she’s not only the undisputed queen of snuggles and cuddles, she’s LOVING paws-onified! As much as she loves the attention of her fosters, she also LOVES playing with her doggy foster friends, whether it’s running circles around the backyard while one of them chases her or playing games of tug-o-war with them. Happiest when active, she burns off her excess energy by going for one long walk a day, playing fetch and tug-o-war with her fosters, chewing on bones and playing with toys, especially mini tennis balls which she loves chasing, chewing on and ultimately destroying. Not to mention the fact that she enjoys chasing her tail. Responding to “come” with a handclap, K’La releases a toy after a bout of tug-o-war when told to “drop it,” and will “sit” politely for treats. Especially fond of cheese, apple chicken treats and mini milk bones, she’s motivated by food, toys and love, is never crated and is almost fully house-trained. Now what this most loyal and loving companion needs are patient adopters who will win her trust, complete her training, including her commands, and keep her adored and active fur-ever. After DNA testing, we know she's equal parts poodle, chihuahua, and cattle dog! See additional photos of K'La here.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order they're submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If your home sounds like a good match for you and the pet, we will connect you with our dogs' foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a "meet and greet" is set up. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to finalize the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375.  Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email  dogs@arrcolorado.org  for more information, as we can't accept calls at this time.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
