At 6 years old and 80 pounds, Joy is everything people adore about Bernese Mountain Dogs — sweet, gentle, loyal, and just the right amount of goofy. She has that classic “Berner heart” that leans into you for pets, follows you from room to room, and looks at you like you personally invented sunshine. Joy is calm and affectionate, but don’t let that fool you — she absolutely has her silly moments. The famous “Bernese bounce” makes regular appearances, usually when she’s excited to see you or when she remembers she has legs and should use them. She’s wonderful with other dogs and friendly with everyone she meets. Truly, she’s a social butterfly wrapped in 80 pounds of fluff. And let’s talk about her love language: brushing. Spa day? Best day. Brushing session? Yes please. Extra brushing session? Also yes. She will happily stand (or lean dramatically) while you brush her and tell her how beautiful she is. She agrees, by the way. Because of her size and joyful enthusiasm, we’d recommend a home without very little kids. She would never mean to, but during one of her happy-go-lucky moments she could accidentally knock over a tiny human. Older kids who understand “big fluffy dog incoming!” would be just fine. House trained. Gets along with other dogs but is possessive with toys and food so he would do best in a home with no other pets.. Bernard is a big boy, approximately 75 lbs, who thinks he is a lap dog. Please help us make room to save more homeless pets!!! Adopting from Hope Rescues saves the life of two.. the one you adopt and the one your adoption makes room for. We are a Rescue which means we physically go and save lives. Story

We adopted Odin in March 2022, when he was estimated to be about one year old. Odin is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves being outside, playing with balls, and getting belly rubs. He enjoys companionship and is very loving with people he trusts. When Odin joined our family, we already had a small dog and two cats, and he has always gotten along well with them. He does, however, have some behavioral challenges. Odin can be timid and anxious, especially around unfamiliar people and animals. He struggles with new people entering his space too quickly and may react defensively when overwhelmed, though he is not aggressive by nature. Odin has some resource-guarding tendencies too, mainly with food, which we manage by feeding him in his crate. He can also be possessive of attention around other animals. With the recent addition of a toddler to our home, there have been a few close-call situations, and we feel it is in Odin’s best interest to be rehomed.
