1-year-old male (Oct 2025) AKC purebred Bernese Mountain Dog, ~88 lbs now, expected ~100 lbs. Super friendly, social, great with kids (newborn to teens) and good with other dogs; not a big barker. House-, crate- and leash-trained; knows sit, come, place, leave it, down, paw. Still young with some; selective hearing; so he needs consistent training and structure and an owner comfortable with a large, strong dog. Story
Meet Maisie 💛 Maisie is a 6-year-old, 30 pound Mini Bernedoodle with the softest eyes and the gentlest soul. After spending her life as a puppy mill mama, she’s finally getting the chance to discover what it means to just be a dog — and she’s ready to find the loving family she has always deserved. Maisie is shy and a bit skittish at first, but don’t let that fool you. Give her a little time and patience, and she’ll greet you with the sweetest smile, a happily wagging tail, and soft little kisses. Watching her learn to trust is truly something special. Once she starts to gain trust, she loves to cuddle with you on the couch. She finds so much comfort in her furry foster siblings — both dogs and cats — and would thrive in a home with another gentle pet to help her feel safe. More than anything, Maisie just wants to know someone is nearby. She doesn’t ask for much — just a calm presence in the room and a reassuring heart beside her. We’re currently working on potty training, and she’s making progress as she settles into home life. With consistency and encouragement, she’ll continue to blossom. Maisie is incredibly gentle, tender-hearted, and sweet. She’s looking for a furever home that will give her the patience, kindness, and unconditional love she’s been missing — a home where she can spend the rest of her days feeling safe, cherished, and never alone again. If you’re ready to open your heart to a quiet, loyal companion who will reward your love with the purest devotion, Maisie is waiting for you. 💕 Maisie is currently being fostered in Clark, NJ. Her adoption fee is $600. Maisie is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Hello from Texas! I am a pretty 6-month-old, 40-pound Bernese Mountain Dog/Labrador Retriever mix puppy named Bella, and I am looking for a forever home. My mama was a pregnant stray when she was found in the Rio Grande Valley (see her picture). She had 2 beautiful puppies on 8/18/25, my brother Scooby and I, and we have all been living in a foster home ever since. I am now spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find a wonderful East Coast family! I am a very sweet and friendly girl with lots of playful energy, and I make friends easily with all people, young and old, and other dogs. I enjoy all the standard dog games like tug-o-war, chasing balls, romping and running with Scooby and my doggy friends, and chewing on doggy toys. I am very affectionate and snuggly, and I don't mind sharing kisses and getting some cuddle-time in, curled up on your lap like a lap dog, or snuggled next to my new senior doggy friend! I am just a wonderfully sweet girl, already housetrained, and just need some practice with leash walking. My foster dad says I am a sweet and obedient puppy who will make a wonderful addition to any family! Inquire about me today! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Story
Meet Oreo! Oreo is a bernedoodle looking for his loving forever home. Oreo’s original owners decided they didn’t want him anyone and gave him away to another family. Within a few hours, he was out on the street and was hit by a car! Neither the original nor the new owners wanted him after he got injured, so the old owners picked him up and brought him to different veterinary hospitals trying to euthanize him. Thankfully, one of the vets called Husky House, so he was able to survive. Oreo arrived to Husky House in terrible condition, terrified, matted, and caked in feces. He also suffered a broken pelvis, blunt force trauma to the heart, and a pneumothorax (holes in the lung) from the car accident. Thankfully, Oreo is recovering well from his injuries and his heart and lungs have fully healed ! However, he is still on crate rest while his pelvis finishes healing. Despite his history, Oreo is a gentle, friendly dog who loves spending time with volunteers. He hasn’t been tested with other dogs yet due to his injury, but he appears dog friendly. Interested in adopting Oreo? Please visit www.huskyhouse.org today to fill out an application.February 21, 2026, 8:33 pm

Story
Bear Foster/Home Needed – Long Island, NY area Meet Bear. This sweet, social, 12-year-old gentleman is looking for the perfect home to spend his golden years. Bear is a large mixed breed weighing approx. 50lbs. He was surrendered by his people because they were moving, and Bear was not welcomed to move with them ☹ He is slightly underweight and originally showed signs of neglect. Thankfully we were able to find a wonderful, temporary home for him, but he needs a place and people to call his own. Bear has no idea he is 12 and we are not telling him. He loves to play and run around; enjoys his walks but he also loves a movie and to nap with his stuffed animals. He loves puzzle toys and treats 😊. This guy really just loves life. He has really come out of his shell, now that he’s safe and well cared for. He’s good with kids, good with cats and friendly with familiar dogs. We'd love to see Bear spend his final years in a comfy and calm environment. Ivan has that calm, dignified vibe—right up until you realize he’s also a total lovebug who will lean in for snuggles as if it’s the most important appointment on his schedule. Born around December 2020, Ivan is laid back, wonderfully mannered, and so easy on a leash that walking him feels like strolling with an old friend. Treat time? He sits politely like he’s at a fancy restaurant waiting for the bread basket, and he accepts snacks with the kind of grace that makes you question your own table manners. He’s affectionate in the sweetest way and truly embodies “gentle giant” to a T. While he's a magnet for people of all ages, kiddos included, he’s also a social guy who lights up around other dogs. He will need a dog companion in his forever home, because life is simply better with a trusty sidekick to help patrol the yard and report any suspicious leaf activity. Adopt Ivan and you’ll get a handsome, gentle-hearted companion who will happily supervise your life, approve your snack choices, and be the best decision you've made all year.
