Story
Meet Mikey, an adorable 9 month-old Bichon/Yorkie mix with a big personality, tons of puppy energy, and a heart just waiting to blossom. Born on January 16, 2026, Mikey currently weighs around 10 pounds. He came to the shelter as an owner surrender because his previous owner had a long work schedule. Now, this little guy is ready to find a family with plenty of time for playtime, adventures, snuggles, and a lifetime of love.Let’s get one thing straight: Mikey is a fetch-playing, fast-running, fun-loving little guy. If you’re looking for a walking buddy, a playmate, or a four-legged sidekick to keep you on your toes, Mikey might just be your guy. He absolutely loves playing fetch and running at top speed. He also has a serious weakness for socks and baseball hats. Consider yourself warned: if you leave them lying around, they might become his new favorite toys. The shelter can be a pretty scary place for this little guy, and he’s feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the sights and sounds. Vacuum cleaners and other loud noises? YIKES! Mikey may bark to let those scary monsters know he’s onto them. But we believe that once he’s settled into a loving home, his confidence will grow and his sweet, playful personality will really shine. Mikey enjoys the company of other dogs around his size, so if you have a canine companion at home, a meet-and-greet will be required to make sure everyone gets along. Cats, however, are a different story. Mikey just can’t resist the urge to chase them, so a cat-free home is best. He hasn’t been exposed to children yet, but respectful, dog-savvy kids may be a good fit.His previous owner reports that Mikey is crate trained and housetrained. Since he’s still a puppy, he’ll need patience, consistency, and a little help keeping those good habits going. He’s also a high-energy boy who will thrive with a family ready to provide daily exercise, playtime, training, and plenty of attention. And that gorgeous fluffy coat? It needs regular professional grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. Looking handsome is a full-time job.Mikey may be a little nervous in the shelter right now, but we know there’s a confident, happy, playful pup waiting to shine once he feels safe and loved. He could be a wonderful addition to many types of households as long as his family is committed to helping him grow into the best dog he can be.Mikey is available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program. This means you can welcome him into your home while he completes his veterinary care, including his neuter, vaccinations, and microchipping. It’s a wonderful way to start building a bond while he finishes checking off his medical to-do list!Mikey has his bags packed and his toys ready for his next big adventure. This adorable little guy is a total doll and probably won’t be waiting long for his forever family. Could that family be yours? To meet Mikey, please email **dogadoptions@parmashelter.org** and complete a dog adoption application online. Mikey`s adoption fee is $200. Mikey has the zoomies, the toys, and all the love in the world to give. All he’s missing is his forever family. Will you be his happily-ever-after?
