Story
Bonnie is a 9 pound Bichon that was used for breeding in a puppy mill.  We were told that she was 9 years old but our vet thinks she’s younger based on the physical evaluation. Bonnie is a very sweet calm little girl whose tail is constantly wagging.  She is having a bit of a hard time trusting people but you can tell she is really eager to engage with her foster mom.  She has learned to use the deck stairs and travels well in the car.  She will need leash training for walks and on going house training support.  She is a very good eater and will try to push her way into another dog’s dinner if not supervised. Bonnie has adjusted well to life in her foster home with 3 other small breed dogs.  She has not yet barked and doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in her body. She will be going in for a spay and dentistry soon.  We will be accepting applications but Bonnie may not be ready for adoption until the first or second week of February. If you think you would like to adopt Bonnie, please fill in our application for our assessment. Thank you. January 26, 2026, 10:27 am

Story
Cruise is a 9 year old male Bichon Frise weighing just 8 pounds, and this sweet little gentleman is ready to start the very best chapter of his life. As a puppymill survivor, he may have missed out on the comforts of a loving home early on, but you would never know it from his gentle heart and hopeful spirit. Cruise has embraced foster life with quiet bravery and is blossoming more each day. He is incredibly sweet and friendly, with a soft, affectionate nature that makes people instantly fall for him. Cruise is almost fully housetrained, and rides nicely in the car. He knows "come", "up", "outside" and of course when it is time for "treats"! He gets along beautifully with other dogs and truly enjoys their company. While he has not met cats in foster care, his calm and gentle temperament suggests he would likely do well with respectful feline friends too. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and happily leans into affection once he feels safe. Because he is a small senior boy, he would do best in a home with older children or kids who understand the importance of giving him space when he needs it. Like many dogs who are discovering the world later in life, he simply thrives with kindness, reassurance, and a predictable routine. He is just getting used to the leash and walking but is very well mannered on short walks. Here's what his foster has to say about him - "Cruise is a mellow, gentle boy who craves love and affection and loves being petted and comes to me for this. He gives kisses freely and is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever known. He sleeps quietly at night and waits patiently to be fed at breakfast and dinner. He is a gem!" Cruise would love a calm, loving home where he can enjoy cozy beds, gentle walks, and lots of affection. Whether as a companion to another friendly dog or as your one and only little shadow, he is ready to give his whole heart to a family who will cherish him. After everything he has been through, Cruise deserves a soft landing and a lifetime of love. Our adoption fees cover all up to date veterinary needs, including but not limited to: full veterinary examination, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal test and parasite prevention, wellness bloodwork, spay or neuter, and microchip. All dogs will be started on a 6 week trial of pet insurance after adoption. Local adopters can take advantage of 50% off a training course at Ruff Haus in Barrie (www.ruffhaus.ca) and all adopters will also be signed up for Petcademy to offer 30 days of free text-based behavioural support. Please visit our website www.preciouspawsrescue.ca to submit an adoption application.

Story
Bentley is a sweet, gentle soul with a heart full of love. At 15 years young, he was surrendered due to medical needs, but despite his challenges, he remains a joyful and resilient companion. Bentley has a heart murmur, but after a visit to a cardiologist, he was diagnosed with degenerative valvular disease, which requires no treatment — a relief for Bentley and his future family! In addition to his heart, Bentley’s eyes are in need of some care. He is blind in both eyes and struggles with dry eye and cherry eye, but he’s not letting that slow him down. He recently saw an ophthalmologist, and with the right medication, he’s living life to the fullest. Bentley is incredibly patient when it comes to his daily eye treatments, and his future family will need to be comfortable administering them. Bentley is on the lookout for a warm, loving home where he can enjoy slow, peaceful walks and snuggle up in a cozy bed. If you're ready to offer Bentley the care and love he deserves, he’s ready to bring endless affection into your life.

Story
Romeo, Romeo, where art thou, Romeo? If you're searching for a handsome little guy to steal your heart, look no further! Romeo is a neutered male Shih Tzu with a sweet disposition to match his charming name. Romeo has a few health needs that require special care. He has allergies, which are managed with daily medication and a vegetarian diet. Since starting this routine, his skin has greatly improved, and we've even been able to reduce the frequency of his medicated baths. Romeo also has dry eye and will need daily eye drops long-term to keep him comfortable. This sweet boy enjoys walks, making friends with calm dogs, and sharing quality cuddle time. Once he's had his exercise, Romeo's ideal afternoon involves lounging on the couch next to his favorite human. Romeo needs a patient adopter who understands that building trust takes time. He requires a muzzle for applying topical medications until a bond of trust is established. With consistent, gentle care, Romeo will flourish into the loving companion he's meant to be. Romeo is looking for a dedicated and peaceful home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by love and comfort. Could that be with you? Romeo has a few health needs that require special care.
