Meet Dolly – A Resilient Little Lady Looking for Her Soft Landing
Sweet little Dolly is searching for a loving home where she can finally relax and be cherished. She came into foster care from a local shelter in rough shape, but with plenty of TLC she has truly begun to blossom.
When Dolly first arrived at her foster home, she was extremely underweight and limping on her left hind leg. A veterinary exam estimated her to be a 7–10 year old poodle mix and revealed that she had previously suffered a broken hip and broken foot. Despite everything she had been through, Dolly’s gentle spirit never faded.
With time, love, and good nutrition, Dolly has made wonderful progress. She now weighs a healthy 11 pounds and is able to walk on her leg. And when she gets excited—yes, she even runs!—she may still lift it a little, but it certainly doesn’t stop her from enjoying life. She would require a one story home or someone that can pick her up.
Dolly is a calm, easygoing little girl. She gets especially excited when her people come home and right before mealtime (her favorite time of day!). If she wants to be picked up, she’ll politely scratch at your leg or “chat” with you to let you know.
She’s a people-loving pup who prefers cuddling with her humans over playing with other dogs (though occasionally she’ll try to join the fun). Dolly isn’t much of a toy player, but she absolutely loves relaxing next to you on the couch—and at bedtime, she happily claims the prime spot between her foster parents’ pillows.
Dolly is house trained and generally very quiet. One of her favorite daily activities is soaking up the sunshine while lounging on her elevated dog bed.
Because she is still recovering from her hip injury, she has not yet been taken on walks. She has done well around young children, though her experience with cats is unknown. Dolly rides nicely in the car and is cooperative for grooming and bathing.
She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, protected with ProHeart 12 (12-month heartworm prevention), and recently had a dental cleaning.
Dolly has overcome a lot and deserves a home filled with love, comfort, and gentle companionship. If you’re looking for a sweet little fluffy companion who will shower you with affection—and even give hugs in return—Dolly might be the perfect match for you.
