Story
Star is an absolutely adorable little fluff ball—a female Bichon mix puppy who came to us from Ozarks Pet Rescue. Her story begins with her mama, who was part of a group of small dogs tragically dumped in the woods and humanely trapped over the course of several weeks. Unbeknownst to everyone at the time, mom was pregnant and gave birth shortly after—on Christmas Eve—making Star and her siblings true holiday miracles. Star is as sweet and snuggly as they come. She loves everyone she meets and greets people with a happy, wagging tail. She’s a typical playful, curious puppy who enjoys exploring her surroundings, romping around with her littermates, and soaking up affection. Star will do best in a home committed to continuing her puppy training so she can grow into a confident, well-mannered adult dog. Because of her fluffy coat, she’ll also need a family dedicated to lifelong grooming and coat maintenance to keep her healthy and comfortable. Important notes: Star is currently available as foster-to-adopt only to a home within 30 minutes of our shelter while we complete her medical care. We do not adopt puppies to households with another dog under 6 months old due to the risk of littermate syndrome. If you’re ready for a lifetime of snuggles, puppy antics, and unconditional love, Star is ready to shine in her forever home. 🌟🐾 All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at https://www.sftsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs

We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS February 9, 2026, 7:38 pm

Story
About Me: Name: Yvette  Breed (or best guess): Bichon  Approximate Age: 10 years  Gender: Female  Approximate Weight: 15 lbs  Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: fenced in yard, another dog in home  Why In Rescue: retired breeder/ puppy mill surrender  Profile:  Yvette has been in a foster home for quite some time and is really ready to have a home of her own. Here is what her foster has to say about her:   Miss Yvette has learned how to be a real dog these past several months. She loves to cuddle in bed with me, munch on carrots for treats, and follow around my own woofs. She is really sweet and is ready to find her forever home. Yvette came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding or was not able to sell her to a broker or pet store.  Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. About Me: Name: Sasha (Iaolani) Breed (or best guess): Bichon Approximate Age: 10 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 18 lb Adoption Fee: $495 ($740 for Sasha and Betty if adopted together) Requirements: Fenced yard, patient adopter, another small dog Why In Rescue: Owner Surrender (puppy mill survivor) Profile:  Sasha was adopted into a loving home but she wasn't a fan of the human male of the household, so is now hoping for a female only living situation.  She did well in her home otherwise, learning to use the doggy door to go potty and play outside.  She is good in the car and in her crate at home.  She doesn't walk on a leash however.  She was good with the other dogs in the family and just avoided children if they visited.  We believe she would be happiest in a family with other dogs and only female humans.  She doesn't bark at the males that come into the shelter, but she was stressed and barked at the human in her adoptive home.  If interested in Sasha please fill out the pre-adoption application. If you have the ability to adopt a pair of dogs, Sasha has become best fur friends with Betty, so if adopted together, they have a reduced fee of $740 for the pair. Iaolani came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  Iaolani is a happy girl who is progressing nicely past her puppy mill days.  She is a very sweet girl who wants attention.  She will need work on walking on a leash, so a fenced yard or potty area is best.  She will need help with housetraining.  She would be happiest if she is adopted into a home with another small social dog, or adopted with one of her friends.  If interested please fill out the adoption application. Story
Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
