Story
Jennie has recently just won the award for best hugs. She puts her front legs around you and if for some reason she can’t give you a full on hug, she will just wrap her little paws around your arm, looking deeply into your eyes. Don’t believe us? Guess you will just have to find out for yourself when you come to meet her! Jennie is dog friendly, cat tolerant, and most of all a people lover, kids included! People are just her favorite! She is very timid and loves a calm environment so we could see her in a quiet home with a solid everyday routine! Jennie is even cat friendly! Are you ready to meet Jennie (Huggie)? Here she is! Meet Jennie here: https://youtu.be/odtLFfKUIJ0?si=qslLtgsCLKDyKhrE Jennie is a goofy girl who loves to bounce bounce bounce from one person to the next, looking for her next hug. She has been around kids as young as 4 years old to 11 years old and you guessed it, she was a huggie girl with them too. She definitely gravitated toward the Elijah, the 11 year old and was so happy sitting next to him, giving him sweet kisses, and inching herself closer for hugs. Even for snuggles on the floor, she loved being snuggled by Elijah and really enjoyed being around his calm energy. She did great with Kobe, the 4 year old too, she just definitely had a favorite. It didn't bother her when Kobe was jumping around, tossing toys, making loud noises or even moving fast unexpectedly, she just sat next to Elijah, watched him, and then went out of her way to go give Kobe a little kiss. Jennie would be a great companion for a family with 1-2 kids, and would be happiest with both kids little bit older or similar to Elijah and Kobe's age difference. She appreciates the way older kids give her a little space to open up and even more so when even smaller humans are around, you know to teach them the ropes sorta thing. She let them dress her up, put silly bunny ears on her, and headbands. One thing that was super cute and she kept on doing, was she kept coming back to Elijah and laying her head on the pillow right next to him! It was so sweet! This girl is definitely ready for movie nights! Her gentle approach with younger kids can even be said with other doggy pals, so we can see her with a more calm sibling that keeps to themselves or maybe even being your one and only! She has formally requested a house with a yard, so if you’re selling a spot in your family, Jennie’s buying! Jennie kept to herself when meeting Biggie the kitty, so he told us she gets the feline friendly stamp of approval! Yay Jennie! She is also amazing in the car, going from window to window just soaking it all in! You will definitely will brownie points with this one if you stop for a pup cup on the way home. We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Story
Scout is a neutered male hound/weimaraner mix (see his DNA results), weighing about 40-45 lbs! He is a sweet, special boy who has had a rough past and really needs an angel to step up and save his life. His estimated age is 5-6 years old, however he has graying on his muzzle which makes him look older than he is. He also has scars on his ears and face.   This boy has definitely experienced trauma and he is slow to trust people, but deep down he just wants to love and be loved.  He is misunderstood and has had people let him down too many times. Scout bonds closely to one person and once he trusts you, you will feel the love and adoration every time he looks into your eyes!  He is a lazy couch potato who loves to nap on the couch next to you and will follow you around the house like your shadow.  Once you’ve really earned his love, he will steal your slippers or other little trinkets that smell like you and take them onto the couch to keep close to him.  He won’t chew them, he just wants to keep a piece of you with him always.   Scout has been adopted and returned once due to fearful aggressive behavior towards men and children. He has been in his current foster home for over a year now and has not had any adopt interest. He is a good boy, but he requires a very specific type of home to do well, and we have not had any luck finding the right home for him   His current foster mom loves him and has worked hard to help him be the best boy he can be, but there is a man in the home and Scout just cannot comfortably coexist with a man. He (the man) understands that Scout’s aggression towards him comes from a place of fear and he has tried hard to earn Scout’s trust, but we feel that Scout would do best in a home with NO men.  Scout’s ideal home: A female only home, no men, children, or cats.  Scout does very well with other dogs and likes to be near them, he also has bursts of playful enjoy and will happily romp around for a play session! A friendly, confident doggo friend would help him to feel safe and to trust, although he would also do just fine as an only dog.  A quiet, calm home environment is best for Scout. He is lower energy and is happy to nap on the couch all day, but he does also love walks (he is strong and tends to pull, so he needs someone strong enough to handle him).   He needs a home that will commit to crating him in a separate room when they have visitors over, as he is not good with new people and when Scout is fearful, he relies on aggression to keep him safe and to keep the “scary” thing away.  Scout needs someone to love him for who he is, warts and all, who will set him up for success and advocate for him. Scout is currently being fostered in CT. If you think you might be a good fit for Scout, please consider applying to foster or adopt him!   Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##1778132##
