Story
My name is Winnie and I am a loving 7 year old, 50 pound girl that is a beautiful Hound breed called a Tree Walker.   I was found as a stray in the middle of a rural highway and I am such a soft and gentle girl that loves to lay around and sleep and just be an easy couch potato friend. I am housebroken, love a good tummy rub, pretty nice to all other dogs that I meet and I would be a great companion to a senior, retired person or couple who are looking for an easy dog to love.  I am healthy and spayed and microchipped and I am told that I am pretty, too.  Would you like to have a sweet companion for the next 7-8 years.  I will be happy to make your life so much more special if you invite me home.  Critter Cavalry Rescue is ready to help you adopt me if you write to them at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 1, 2024, 5:15 pm

Story
Meet Pippin, an adorable five-month-old, 30 lb. Treeing Walker Coonhound/Retriever mix. With one blue and one brown eye, there’s possibly some husky in there too. We expect him to be 60-70 lbs. once fully grown. This sweet baby was found dumped beside the road in rural North Carolina. His rescuer saw him while she was driving by and stopped to investigate. To her surprise, Pippin did not run away from her but instead kept going forward, looking back at her as he walked. Finally, he stopped and sat down in a pool of murky, muddy water and looked up at her with those big sad eyes. Tears were falling down her face as she scooped Pippin up and took him back to her car. He was so grateful to be in a safe place that he even fell asleep on the drive to her home. Pippin is such a sweetheart and wants nothing more than to be by your side. Considering his young age, he is an exceptionally well-behaved puppy and loves getting any type of attention – whether it be in pets, belly rubs, or treats. Pippin has such a gentle personality and is so eager to please. He is great with other dogs and adores people of all ages, kids included. He is, however, a bit too curious about cats and wants to chase them. The foster says he is perfect! He is a very good boy who is crate trained, house trained, but also capable of using the doggie door. Pippin’s ideal home would be one with a fenced yard because he's going to be a big boy and it would be nice for him to have a confined area in which he can run and play. His adoption fee is $450 and Pippin is vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. He is currently located in NC and will be transported up north upon approval of an application. Story
Our Jed is that exceptional, all around family dog that is rare in rescue. He loves everybody and has not flinched at all during a rescue process that leaves lesser dogs rattled.  We've been trying to piece together Jed’s backstory, and here's what we know for sure: he was found as a stray in North Carolina, and Animal Control Officers handled him with ease when they brought him to the County shelter. Jed looked weary and malnourished when he arrived at the rural Shelter, but his luck improved when the shelter transferred him to our Connecticut Rescue last month so that we could find him a forever home.  Throughout the chaotic rescue process, Jed has been a gentle sweetheart. He is full of life and personality, and at just one year old, he still has a bit of puppy mojo. He can be shy when meeting new people, but after five minutes, he warms up and is like a kid in a candy shop, soaking up new experiences with sheer glee. Jed is a super dog that would do well in any type of environment. Jed appears to be a Treeing Walker Coonhound, and he lives up to their lovable reputation. He is a large dog, at a lean weight of 55 pounds. His short, flat tri-colored coat is largely black and tan, with white markings. He has a million dollar profile! Jed is a very gentle boy and would be a great addition to an active family with older, dog savvy kids. He is friendly and will give everyone in the family equal attention. Jed is not one to play favorites, and he is very stranger friendly.  Jed could also join an active single or couple, who can provide at least one to two leisurely leash walks, so that he can meander and stop to smell the "roses." Scent hounds are extremely easy to manage because the leisurely walk that engages their senses, provides much needed mental and physical exercise. Jed has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He has been neutered, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. If you are interested in Jed, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
Meet Sammy! This sweet and beautiful blue eyed girl came into the shelter pregnant. She had one baby, which Fetching Hearts Rescue had also rescued. Sammy had to stay back in Mississippi to complete her heartworm treatment. Now she is ready to go!!! Sammy enjoys hanging out with her humans and other doggie friends. She gets playful, but also will be a chill out girl. Sammy definitely would love a fenced yard, so she can explore the outside and use her nose. Bring her for walks and let her explore the world!!! Sammy is a very sweet girl with a lot of love to share. She’s a smart pup with a lot of potential, and loves people of all ages. Give Sammy the love she deserves and you’ll be the apple of her differently-colored eyes! Think Sammy would make a great family member? Apply now!
