Story
Hi my name is Hickory! I was rescued with several other dogs from a property where our owner was no longer physically able to care for us. Thankfully Guardians of Florida Animal Rescue took us and provided the general and medical care we needed to be ready for forever homes! While I am still a little shy, I warm up very quickly once I know you- especially if you have some good treats! I am estimated at 7 months old and look like a black mouth/shepherd mix. I have been friendly with other dogs here. I’ve only met cats a few times, but they seem okay, too. Due to my background before being rescued, I am looking for someone who will understand my shyness and help me become more confident. I would love it if we could take some classes together so I can learn how to be the best dog possible! My $350 adoption fee includes vet check, up-to-date vaccinations, heaertworm test (negative), neuter, microchip and deworming. If you want to make me part of your family please go to www.gofar.dog and complete a free, non-binding adoption application. If you encounter any issues with our website, please email adoptions@gofar.dog.If you have questions, email my rescue at adoptions@gofar.dog. If you'd like to experience all the love I have, and want to make me part of your family, please complete the adoption application by pasting this link into your browser: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=sm2546&method=online_form_html&formid=21

Story
Meet Ooby! 💛🐾 Ooby is a 38-pound Black Mouth Cur mix who has had a rough start and is understandably feeling very scared in the shelter. The busy, noisy environment has been overwhelming for him, but beneath that fear is a truly gentle and kind-hearted dog just waiting for the chance to feel safe again. When given patience and calm reassurance, you can see glimpses of the sweet soul he really is. Ooby does have some skin issues that may need ongoing care or monitoring, but with love, consistency, and proper attention, he has so much potential to thrive. He’s also dog friendly, which can be a wonderful confidence booster for him—having a calm canine companion may help him feel more secure and settled. This sensitive, handsome boy would do best in a quiet, patient home where he can decompress, build trust at his own pace, and learn that people are kind and the world isn’t so scary. Ooby doesn’t ask for much—just understanding, gentle care, and a warm place to finally feel at peace. He’s ready for his second chance and a forever home where he can truly blossom. 💕

Story
Meet Daisy Duke — Serious Inquiries Only 🐾🤍 Daisy Duke is a 3-year-7-month-old, 50ish-lb sweetheart who has had a very hard start in life and is still learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and cared for. She is deeply sensitive, very curious, and also very afraid of the world—new noises, new places, new people… it’s all still overwhelming for her. But with time, patience, and gentle understanding, Daisy Duke begins to show her true heart: a soft, sweet, loyal girl who wants to trust and wants to belong. She’s wonderful with other dogs and feels more confident with a friendly canine companion by her side. Absolutely no children for Daisy Duke—she needs a calm, predictable, adults-only home that understands trauma and is committed to helping her blossom at her own pace. This precious girl isn’t for everyone. She needs someone who truly sees her: a patient, experienced adopter who will help her continue learning how to be a dog, celebrate her small victories, and give her the quiet, steady love she’s never had. If you believe in gentle hearts, slow progress, and the beauty of earning a fearful dog’s trust, Daisy Duke may be your once-in-a-lifetime companion. 🤍

Story
What we’re witnessing is nothing short of a miracle. This beautiful soul, once left to suffer in neglect, has blossomed into the joyful, loving, and resilient pup we see today. Whitney’s journey is a testament to the power of love and care, and it fills our hearts to see her thriving after all she's been through. From being a stray with no hope to becoming a sweet, affectionate companion, Whitney has proven that even the toughest beginnings can't stop the power of a second chance. Her foster parents say “Whitney has adapted to an indoor home life like a champ in very short time. She bonded quickly and greets us with smiles and wagging tail when we get home and follows us around the house. She loves taking long walks, sleeping on her dog beds, romping in the grass and lounging in her crate. She is friendly with everyone she meets. She is learning what toys are. Given her history, she is not fond of other dogs but she has enough love to fill any household all by herself.” Whitney's resilience is nothing short of inspiring, and we know she will continue to shine bright in the loving arms of her new family.
