Story
Meet Dylan This handsome hound mix has stolen quite a few hearts at our shelter. He is so gentle and timid, but we feel certain once he knows he’s safe we’ll start to see his personality shine. We pulled Dylan from a high kill shelter. We have no idea what his life was before we got him, we can only observe his reactions and personality to try and discern what may have gone on. Dylan was shut down at the high kill shelter. He plastered himself to the back of the kennel. He was scared to walk and fell to shaking. But that is his past. Dylan is moving forward and is beginning to relax into the world of our no-kill shelter, where he has all the time he needs to decompress and heal. Our team has been showing him love and kindness. He’s feeling safe and in time he’ll lean into this and shine. Dylan loves going into our play yards. He enjoys playing and is eagerly welcoming all the pets and attention he can get. His tail is wagging more and he’s running around with joy. Dylan is dog friendly and he likes to meet up with the other dogs in the yards next to him. Dylan is fine with cats. He seems afraid of them. We have noticed that Dylan does frighten easily. If you clap your hands, run at him or reach over his head, he thinks he’s in trouble and will pancake on the ground. It’s heartbreaking to see this and is most likely a result of his past. But he never lashes out, he goes inward and we’re learning that we just have to move a little slower with him and he’s fine. Dylan is about two years old. He weighs 51 lbs. He has a handsome face, a pretty brown coat, he’s long, lean and athletic. He is very good on a leash. He even seems to be potty-trained. His manners are wonderful. He’s trying so hard to be brave, to fit in. We think Dylan is going to be a wonderful companion to any family with his warmth, charm, and friendliness. He just needs a little TLC, some confidence building, a safe place (with a fenced yard) and consistency. Dylan is a gem and deserves a loving home. He’ll be neutered in March. If interested in welcoming Dylan to your heart and home, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please use the downloadable application found on our homepage. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.

Story
Hi all, I’m Pumpkin! I’m a 2-year-old pup with a heart even bigger than my big ol’ noggin! I’m a classic Velcro Dog, and my number one goal in life is to be wherever my people are. I’m happy to follow you out into the yard for a game of Catch (we’re working on Fetch), and you will absolutely adore my butt-scoot zoomies—where my back end tries to outrun my front! Just as easily, I’ll happily curl up with my person for a lazy afternoon. I make an excellent work-from-home buddy and am a big fan of couch time.I can be a little wary of strangers at first, and I’ll let you know it with a bark that *sounds* very serious—but don’t be fooled. With a little time, patience, and love, you’ll discover that under my big, scary-sounding facade is a sensitive sweetheart who just wants to feel safe and loved.I need to be the **ONLY pet** in your home, but let’s be real: I’m a princess who wants and deserves all of your attention. I’d do great with a yard to get my occasional zoomies out, but since I’m a diva, I’m not interested in dog parks or hanging out with other dogs. I also might bowl over smaller people in my enthusiasm, so a home with older children would be better than one with toddlers.I’m a smart girl who takes direction and correction well, learns quickly, and is eager to please. You’ll soon recognize my signature wrinkled forehead paired with the classic “Am I a good dog?” look. And if my other signature expression is Resting Judgy Face, it’s only because every minute you’re taking pictures of me could also be spent giving me cuddles.Take me home today, and you’ll have a best friend for life. Currently, I am available for adoption. If you’re interested in meeting me, please fill out an application or call the Humane Society of Forsyth County at 770-887-6480. Adoption hours are Tuesday–Thursday 11–5 and Friday & Saturday 1–5.All my love and endless tail wags, Pumpkin.

Story
Meet Georgia – A Sweet Southern Belle in Need of a Patient Home Georgia is a beautiful Cur mix just over a year old, with a gentle spirit and a heart full of love—once she gets to know you. She can be shy at first and takes a little time to warm up, but once she does, her affectionate and loyal personality truly shines. Georgia would do best in a quieter home without young children, as she needs a calm, understanding environment to feel safe. She can be selective with other dogs, so slow introductions are a must. If you're patient and willing to earn her trust, Georgia will reward you with a lifetime of love, cuddles, and devotion. Come meet this soulful girl and see if she’s the missing piece of your heart.

Story
Roman is a young Pitbull/Mix in immediate need of a foster or adopter to get him out of boarding! He is estimated to be around 1-2yr old, and weighs 55lbs. Roman has a sweet and friendly personality - he is good with people and dogs, and would likely be kid friendly too! He is smart and already knows a few basic commands (sit and shake). He is very trainable, and is also good on leash with a proper collar. Roman enjoys being around people, and would be a great companion for a person or family who wants to take their dog on fun outings! Roman has a medium energy level, and is playful and loving. BarkVille Dog Rescue would love for Roman to land a foster or forever home where he will receive the love and attention he deserves. Roman is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. If you&#39re interested in adopting or fostering this sweet boy, please email us at info@barkvilledogrescue.org or submit an application at https://www.barkvilledogrescue.org/applications. BarkVille is located in Roswell, GA and our dogs are available for foster/adoption in the Greater Atlanta area. Applicants in surrounding states could potentially adopt a BarkVille dog if their application is approved, they live within 2-3 hours of the Greater Atlanta area, and they are able to pick up their dog from the foster home.March 8, 2026, 12:40 am
