You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website - not through a 3rd party service.**   Meet Peaches!  Peaches is an approximately 2 years old, 55lb Black mouth cur mix. (We do not DNA test).  This poor girl found herself in a shelter down south when her owner went to jail.  Lucky for her some kind people saw her and brought her into rescue and she found her way up north to HWM.  Peaches is crate trained and house broken.  Her foster mom says she walks great on her harness and might even make a great jogging buddy for someone.  While Peaches doesn’t necessarily need a fenced in yard, she is high energy, so she will need lots of exercise, and walks.  Her potential adopters must be very committed to this.    Peaches is described by her foster momma as eager to please, food motivated and very affectionate.  This sweet girl has done well with other dogs in the foster home, as well as adults, but has not yet been exposed to cats or small humans.    Peaches is heartworm positive, but don't let that deter you.   She will be receiving treatment that is covered by the rescue.  Potential adopters will speak to a member of our medical team prior to any meet and greet, so they can fully understand the treatment and what it entails.     Peaches’ Adoption fee is  $350.00.  This includes age appropriate vaccines, completed wellness exam, and microchip.  *HWMAR presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications. Story
Scared to death….All I had was my sister and people were probably either non-existent in my life prior to Save-A-Pet or even possibly not very nice. Everything was new. What’s a leash? What about toys? Why do they make funny noises? Why do people talk to us in “puppy” talk? The Canine Care staff was persistent and every day they made sure to help me get adjusted and show me what fun could be. I discovered plush toys, I even started “booping” a squeaky toy and then getting a treat. They took me in a little play yard and I got to run around, discovering a new feeling: happiness. I am discovering the world, one puppy step at the time. I also enjoy romping around with other doggies. Who knew life could be so different. I still have a lot to learn and experience and while I’m still cautious with new people, I am excited for my next adventure with a kind, compassionate and loving family.

Story
Cautious doesn’t even begin to describe all the feelings I was experiencing when I first got to Save-A-Pet. After all, the only constant in my life was my sister and people most probably didn’t play much of a role or may even have not been too nice to us. Being here made me realize that there were so many things to discover and that was overwhelming and can still be scary at times. The first time I heard the sound of a squeaky toy, I jumped back, unsure of whether this thing was dangerous or what it was for. The Canine Care staff didn’t give up on me and every day they helped me discover what life was all about. I wasn’t even too sure about treats but they didn’t give up and found out that I really love sliced cheese. I get to play with other doggies and in special moments I feel carefree. Who knew life could be so much better, being loved at my own speed. . I still have a lot to learn and experience and while I’m still cautious with new people, I am excited for my next adventure with a kind, compassionate and loving family.

Hi, I'm Keaton! Thanks for checking me out! I know my cute face is hard to resist, but here's the scoop: I'll need a lot of your time and attention as I grow up into the amazing adult dog I'm destined to be! I'm looking for a forever family that will help me with socialization, training (yes, that includes house training!), and plenty of exercise. And let's not forget the chewing and teething-I'm still learning what's okay (and what's definitely not okay) to put in my mouth. So, be ready for some puppy-proofing! Don't forget those vet visits! I'll need to stay up to date on my boosters and vaccines, which means a few trips to see my favorite vet in the first few months. But trust me, all that effort will be worth it when you experience the endless love, puppy kisses, and pure joy I'll bring into your life. Frances is the total opposite of rowdy. Frances never met a stranger & thinks everyone is or should be her friend :) She jumps up on people for hugs. Walks well on leash & is crate trained. She has been through alot in the past 6 months and has finally been ready for her own family. Frances is going to be a great addition to any home. She'd love a yard & kids / dog to play but would also would do well as only dog getting all the attention! She is flexible like that. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Zelie’s past is a mystery, like so many dogs who find their way to rescue, but what we do know is that she’s a gentle, loving girl with a heart ready to bloom. She can be a little shy at first, but once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines through. Zelie adores her person and will happily follow you everywhere — she might even step on the backs of your feet just to stay close! She would thrive in a calm, patient home that can help her continue building confidence, and she’d love a confident doggy friend to learn from. She is crate trained and often uses her crate when things get a bit too busy. Zelie is good with other dogs and is just now learning how to be a dog herself — playing, exploring, and enjoying the fun of having canine friends. She’s also good with cats; she’s curious but respectful and leaves them alone. Zelie is looking for a family who will continue to help her grow, gain confidence, and discover the joy of being a beloved dog. She’s ready to find her forever. This is Jade! This darling girl would love to enjoy the comforts of home and leave our rescue in Arkansas. She is 2-3 years old. Jade has a high prey drive, so she can’t cohabitate with cats. She is good with puppies, but really prefers to be by herself. She is ok with male dogs, but would really just like to be left alone to watch the squirrels. She is very sweet.
