Meet Doug — Your Next Adventure Buddy! 🐾 Doug is a 3-year-old Black Mouth Cur with a tan coat, a big heart, and even bigger zest for life. This sweet, energetic boy has been loved since puppyhood and is now looking for a new home where he can shine. Doug is happiest when he has something to do — fetching tennis balls, exploring on walks, or joining you for any fun the day brings. He loves fetch (though he’s still learning that the game works best when he actually brings the ball back). The two-ball method is his current favorite hack! Doug is social, affectionate, and well-mannered with people. He’s lived with toddlers and handled household chaos with patience and gentle enthusiasm. When guests arrive, he may greet them with excited jumps, but it’s all love — he just hasn’t learned that not everyone wants a pogo-stick hello. He’s also house-trained, crate-trained, great on walks, and a perfect gentleman in the car. Doug is smart, eager to please, and settles in beautifully once he gets his initial excitement out. Doug has lived peacefully with another dog and generally enjoys canine company, though he can have a “big personality” around confident or senior dogs who may not appreciate his playful energy. During staff testing, he and another dominant male had a brief disagreement, but both boys rebounded quickly — Doug showed he can coexist and even become a good playmate once everyone settles in. Slow introductions are key for him, especially with older or more reserved dogs. He is cat-friendly, which is a wonderful bonus! Doug thrives with: ✔️ An active family or person ✔️ Structure, exercise, and play ✔️ Someone who enjoys training and enrichment ✔️ A home that gives him slow intros to new dog friends Doug is a smart, loving, athletic companion who will be your go-to buddy for walks, adventures, games of fetch, car rides, and couch snuggles. Story
Sweet, loving, 6 yr old black mouth cur/pit mix. House training is impeccable and she isn’t a barker until it comes to spotting a neighbor dog through the fence. She does well in her kennel and is trained to sit, stay, go to her dog bed or kennel and loves learning new tricks too. Her zoomies are adorable and when they happen it’s best to put her in the yard as she’ll want to run several laps until she’s panting. She loves going on walks, especially when she gets to spot a rabbit. She’s trustworthy enough to be left home alone outside of her kennel and she’s not an escape artist, so no digging under or jumping over fences. She’s great at meeting new people, no jumping or barking, and warms up to newcomers immediately. In a past home, she lived with an aggressive mini Australian shepherd so she now has a vendetta against small dogs which is why we need to rehome. She also isn’t great with cats so for these reasons she would do best as a single pet in a home
