Story
Meet Darrin!Needs a dog friend in the home. This handsome little boy came to us from our shelter partner in Mississippi! He`s an adorable southern boy that looks like a hound mix. He`s a pup that is taking his time to adjust to life here in the northeast. He`s sweet, shy and reserve but if you see him with other dogs he sprouts like a flower and navigates his world with their help. He`s warming up to people especially when delicious treats are involved. So, if your dog is interested in being an emotional support dog to Darrin he may be the one for you! We know he`ll come around once he has a chance to settle into your home and will become the fun loving pup you were looking for!Check out his video: Darrin is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Darrin or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Story
Now it’s Ophelia’s turn. All of Ophelia’s puppies have found their forever homes and after months of being the very best mama, it’s finally her time to be chosen. Currently fostered in our rescue partner Sarah's home, Ophelia has truly been “a friend to all the dogs and people” who’ve come through their home. Sara says it best (and often): “Ophelia is a great, great dog!” Ophelia is a big, dopey, sweet gal with a medium energy level and a heart of gold. She still has a little puppy-ness left in her—mostly in the way she’s learning how to just be a dog in a home full of people who love her. The sad part is, that kind of safety and affection is new to her, but her sweet and attentive personality shines through always! She's extremely dog friendly with dogs of all sizes too!  She’s the kind of dog who will quietly steal your heart—soft, soulful, and so deserving of a forever home that will continue showing her how good life can be. Ophelia is ready. Who’s ready for her? 4-5 yo/63 lb hound mix very dog friendly- daycare candidate  medium energy, dopey sweet  completed Heartworm treatment altered, micro chipped, vaccinated Ready for Adoption 3/19 -apply now and Get approved to bring her home from Amesbury, MA!  *Please note: We're an all-volunteer organization, and incomplete applications cannot be processed.* If you're interested in adopting a GBP rescue PAL, please submit an application through the link below. Story
adoption donation : $699 weight 40 lbs Age 8 months dob. 1/10/25      Jade is an adorable mixed breed pup who seems to be some kind of black mouth cur mix. . She is a gentle and sweet and loving girl who is just a delight.  Jade and her sisters Josie and Journey  were part of a group of puppies that were sadly being given away for free at a local Walmart in Mississippi. The woman who runs the rescue Wags of Monroe County couldn’t bear to see these puppies going to people with no vetting and so she scooped up the remaining three girls.     Since then, the puppies have thrived, they love to run and play with all the dogs at the rescue and then cuddle up together in a puppy pile to nap. They have all been spayed and have their vaccinations and are all healthy happy girls.    Jaden and her sisters are still in Mississippi, but ready to come up to the northeast in mid October on the transport truck that leaves every Friday from Tupelo. We know these girls will all make wonderful family dogs, but are fine to consider a foster to adopt. Jade is such a gentle, calm girl, we know she will be a loving member of the family.   Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter. Most of our dogs are in Mississippi and come up by Transport, dogs are listed along the Transport route or in an area where we may have volunteers who can help transport the dogs. We do have some of our dogs in foster homes in the northeast, we always need foster homes! Story
This is a dog who was named perfectly! Happy is just that, happy! This sweet, joyful girl will bring a grin to your face and fill your home with love. Happy would love a doggy playmate and if possible fenced in yard to romp in, or perhaps doggy daycare as she is a medium - medium/high energy girl. She learns fast, but could use a little leash manners brush up! Happy is a snuggly girl who loves to hang out with people, she'd love to run errands or go on hikes with you. And her beautiful brindle coat shines as bright as her personality! Happy is about a year old, 50lbs, housebroken and crate trained, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vetting. If you would like to make this happy girl a member of your family, please email bigyellowgoose018@gmail.com for an application.

Story
adoption donation : $499 weight 50 lbs Age  3 years        Layne is a beautiful 3-year-old, 50 lb golden pup who came to us pretty timid and scared of the world but has since gained a lot of confidence. She wants to be loved and give love in return. Layne lives with other dogs, kids and a baby. She is a sweetheart and a quiet girl—she is the only dog in the house who does not bark at the mailman!    Layne loves to run in the yard and watch the birds fly by so a fenced yard is preferred. She adores loves playing fetch and treat time. She loves romping around the yard with her four-legged foster brothers and would love a canine companion! Layne does well with senior dogs as well.      Layne also has a foster brother, Puddles, who is her very best buddy so if an adopter  was potentially looking for two dogs they would be a perfect pair!       Layne is the quintessential family dog, she is gentle and loving and will make a wonderful member of the family.     For more information on adopting Layne please email   ramellakwolek@gmail.com    June 22, 2025, 7:29 am

Story
Joe is a stunning 8 year old black mouth cur mix that is ready to find his forever family❤️ Sweet Joe has a strong desire to be near his people, always. He’s a cuddle bug and loves being where his family is! He is good at being a companion dog, he plays well with puppies & is a protector of his people! He will bark when strangers come to the door but once he knows they’re cool, he will be their new best friend🐾 This handsome boy can be an adventure pup or a couch potato. He loves to go for hikes and runs, but he is also happy cuddling up on a couch with his humans! He likes other dogs, but prefers pup friends with laid-back personalities so he can be the “big dog in the house,” or he would be okay as an only dog! 🐶 Joe has a strong case of FOMO, so he always wants to know what you are doing and where you are going. He likes to follow his people around the house and get into the things they are getting into. He really just wants to be near his humans & doing whatever they’re doing.❤️ Joe needs an adult-only household, or one with older children. Poor buddy is scared of little kids and deserves a home where he doesn’t have to be separated from little ones, and can roam his home as he pleases. He is kennel trained, but doesn’t need to be kept in one because he isn’t destructive & he is house trained! Joe is a good boy that deserves a soft place to land after his family dynamic has changed. If you have an older, established household, please consider adding Joe to your family!🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!
