Story
Norman is a super special senior! He was picked up from the shelter by a wonderful vet that got his much needed medical care completed. He got a full dental, heartworm treatment, physical therapy for some old injuries, and some much needed weight on him. He was completed emaciated when she picked him up. He is a beautiful, happy boy now! He can be a bit dog selective and does better with females. He will need to be in a home without young children because of his food issues. He needs to continue his socialization to make sure he doesn't get overprotective of the home he is in. He loves to play and is still very active for his age!! If you would be interested in giving this sweet boy a forever home to live out his golden years please contact us!!

Adalida was found on the highway down in Texas standing in the middle of the road. A wonderful passerby stopped and put her in her car. She is a very sweet old girl that LOVES her naps!! She gets along great with her fosters Basset hounds and loves to cuddle. She is a very quiet girl and is content just to sleep or stroll around the yard. She would be great in a quiet home that would let her enjoy long naps! Please let us know if you would be interested in being her forever family!

Story
Ranger's owner passed away and he was in desperate need of a home. We have him in foster care currently and he is doing great. He loves being with his people and can tend to get a bit anxious when left alone. He is getting better daily with his confidence of being left alone. He loves soft beds and treats. He would be an amazing companion to someone that is home most of the time. He would not do well being left alone for extended periods of time yet. He is a super sweet boy that loves to talk and is learning a new world, so he will need someone with patience to help him with this journey.

Story
Nova is an adorable one-year old female (possible) Plott Hound/Shepherd mix who was surrendered by her family on July 17, 2025 because they were no longer able to take care of her. Nova was accompanied by her three male companions (Bo, Bumble Bee, and Marshall) who had also shared her home. Nova has a brown/brindle short smooth coat with a small patch of white on her chest, white toes on her paws, a long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes, black shading on her muzzle, and tiny 'folded-over' ears. These photos of Nova were taken on July 19th in her large floor crate in the shelter garage since she wasn't quite ready to venture out with a stranger that she didn't realize was in love with her already. This little sweetheart is a very frightened young lady being in an unfamiliar place with people that she doesn't know (and so many other dogs nearby). Our compassionate shelter staff and kennel techs are giving Nova extra TLC (and our Executive Director Amy Rogers was taking Nova under her 'angel wings' when we saw Nova snuggled up next to Amy on the sofa in the lobby of our shelter). Nova is a petite young lady who weighs just 26 lbs. Update: Nova went home with a wonderful foster family on July 22nd who opened up her home and heart to this scared overgrown puppy ... And planned to shower her with love in order to help Nova overcome her fears and help her with social skills in order to find the perfect home. The foster family's dog was apparently doing her part to make Nova feel welcome and pushed open the door to show Nova where they could go outside for an adventure .. The family dog came back, but Nova was new to the area and couldn't find her way back home. Many compassionate folks have been searching for Nova but, as of July 25th, Nova has not been found. HSOV and MOV Drone Workz along with many volunteers have been looking for this tiny dog (and a trap has been set in hopes of bringing her to the safety). Nova is missing in the Silver Globe Road area in Washington County Ohio. If you have seen Nova or know her whereabouts, please contact the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, 90 Mt Tom Road, Marietta Ohio by calling (740) 373-5959. Nova will be spayed before being officially adopted by her new family.
