Story
George is a majestic 2-year old male Treeing Walker Coonhound who was brought to the HSOV on March 25, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Cats Creek Road in the Lowell Ohio area. George was accompanied by another male Treeing Walker Coonhound (Cosmo) who is most likely his brother. George was wearing a collar but, unfortunately, there was neither an id tag nor a dog tag on his collar ... And neither of the boys were microchipped. This magnificent boy has a white/black/brown short smooth coat, rather long legs, a long tail, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked Coonhound face with classic features including extra-large floppy ears which frame his beautiful face. George is a good conversationalist who is always willing to challenge other dogs to a barking contest. His brother Cosmo is usually the more quiet one but he also has a fine melodious Coonhound voice (smile). These pictures of George were taken on the afternoon of March 28th when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied him outdoors for his photo session. George gave us several professional poses as though he were competing in a Westminster Dog Show and also demonstrated his mischievous stances when he noticed one of our shelter mascot kitties in the distance. Neither George nor Cosmo accept cats in their friendship circles and do NOT get along with felines. George weighs approximately 70 lbs and is very strong/enthusiastic on a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, George was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came look for George (or Cosmo), so they are technically available for adoption. Both George and Cosmo will be neutered before being officially adopted. They could be fostered-to-adopt while they are awaiting their neuter procedures with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

Story
Chuck is an adorable one-year old male Beagle/Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on August 7th 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him at a gasoline/service station in Bartlett Ohio. Chuck was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. This little sweetheart has a dark tan-and brown shorthaired coat with a patch of white on his chest, rather short legs, a long body, a long curled tail, and a cute Terrier face with a splash of white on his tiny muzzle, and short floppy ears. Chuck has a 'cherry condition' in both of his eyes and will eventually require a surgical procedure. This young man has a super sweet disposition and loves attention from his people friends. These photos of Chuck were taken on the afternoon of August 8th when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied him for outdoor pictures. Chuck enjoyed the opportunity to stretch his legs and scamper around in the green grass. Chuck weighs 20.6 lbs and walked well on a leash for Emily. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Chuck was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly, nobody called or came looking for this sweet boy. Since he was not reclaimed, Chuck is now available as a foster-to-adopt with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application. Chuck will be neutered (and will undergo his cherry eye surgery) before his adoption is finalized.

Story
Brownie (aka Bubba) is a cute 6-year old male Miniature Pinscher/Beagle mix who was surrendered to the HSOV on March 6, 2026 for a heartbreaking reason since his owner has been hospitalized and is no longer able to care for his beloved pet. Brownie may look familiar to many of our HSOV volunteers and Facebook fans since he was adopted from HSOV in December 2021. Brownie has enjoyed 4-years and four months with his adoptive owner and surely misses being in a loving home with the person who adored him. Brownie has a black-and-brown short smooth coat with a smidgeon of white on his chest, a long tail, and an adorable (rather mischievous-looking) face with a tan mask, a slender muzzle, and magnificent large floppy ears which frame his face. This little guy is full of playful puppy-like energy. Brownie adores his adult people friends, but he doesn't do well with other dogs, cats, or young children. Brownie has been kept indoors. Brownie weighs approximately 21 lbs and walks fairly well on leash. He has already been neutered. These photos were taken on March 6, 2026 when HSOV Shelter Manager Tracy Lynn Moore helped Brownie with his 'big boy' outdoor pictures and gave him extra attention while telling him what a good boy he was. Since Brownie has already been neutered, he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application. We'd love to see him back in a home environment instead of in a small shelter floor crate. Update:: Brownie went home with a foster family on March 20, 2026 who plans to adopt him if all goes well. Brownie was returned at closing time on March 20, 2026 because he was nipping/growling at a grandchild in his foster family's home. Brownie is NOT good with other dogs, cats, or children and prefers to be an 'only child/dog' in his adult family's home. Update: Brownie went home with a foster family on April 11, 2026 who plans to adopt him if all goes well. Brownie was returned by his foster family on April 14, 2026 because he wouldn't eat for some reason.

Story
Banshee is a handsome male Hound/Beagle mix who was surrendered by his owner to the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden on February 26, 2025. Banshee was 2-years old at the time. Banshee has a black-and-brown shorthaired coat with a large patch of white on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable Beagle/Hound face with soft brown eyes, a black button nose, a slender muzzle, and large floppy ears. We had taken Banshee's original photos shortly after his arrival on February 26th 2025. Banshee had a super sweet, friendly disposition and an outgoing personality from day one. He has always been a pushover for attention, playful and loves to have a good time. One of Banshee's memorable pictures that day was when he demonstrated his 'downward facing dog Yoga pose' when he saw dogs being walked in the distance by volunteers. As cute as his photos were 'back then', the winter weather was rather gloomy since there was no sunshine, and the grass/fallen leaves were drab/brown .. Not an ideal background to show off Banshee's good looks. Banshee spent a few days with a foster family in late July/early August 2025. Banshee was great with his foster dad and mom, but he didn't appear to be accustomed to sharing a home with young children .. and the children were a little intimidated by Banshee. So the family felt Banshee would be better suited in a home that he didn't share with small/young children. So Banshee's freedom of being in a real home environment didn't last long, and he has now been in our shelter for one-year waiting for someone to offer him a forever home. Banshee was neutered on September 22, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. He weighs approximately 50 lbs. These updated photos of Banshee were taken on August 6th when HSOV Volunteer Miley Kiggans spent time with Banshee on a bright sunny afternoon .. And his beautiful coat was highlighted in the green grass and sunshine. Banshee is still a pushover for attention and loves his adult people friends, and he stayed close to Miley so that he could hear what a 'good boy' he was and to be petted. Banshee was a natural for the camera lens and displayed many of his cute facial expressions (and responded to whistling and the 'here kitty kitty' conversations with some awesome head tilts) (smile). Banshee is good with other dogs and has done well when he participated in off-site social events with volunteers, and he loves his adult people friends. He is not a fan of cats, and he is not good with small/young children .. so he is looking for a home with no cats or young children. Thanks to Cone & Shake At The Oasis (Marietta Ohio) for sponsoring Banshee's adoption fee.
