Story
Cosmo is a handsome 2-year old male Treeing Walker Coonhound who was brought to the HSOV on March 25, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Cats Creek Road in the Lowell Ohio area. Cosmo was accompanied by another male Treeing Walker Coonhound (George) who is most likely his brother. George was wearing a collar but, unfortunately, there was neither an id tag nor a dog tag on his collar ... And neither of the boys were microchipped. This beautiful boy has a white/black/tan short smooth coat, rather long legs, a long tail, and a classic symmetrically-marked tan/white Coonhound face with dark brown eyes, a black button nose, a slender muzzle, and extra-large floppy ears. The left side of Cosmos' body is entirely white and the right side is tricolored ... So depending upon which side you are viewing Cosmo from, he appears to be two different dogs! Cosmo appears to be the more quiet of the pair, but he also has a fine melodious Coonhound voice which he sometimes displays. On the other hand (uh.. paw), his brother George is a good conversationalist who is always willing to challenge other dogs to a barking contest. These pictures of Cosmo were taken on the afternoon of March 28th when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied him outdoors for his photo session. Cosmo posed like a 'pro' in nearly all of his glamour pictures and seemed to enjoy the paparazzi experience. Neither Cosmo nor George accept cats in their friendship circles and do NOT get along with felines. Cosmo weighs approximately 65 lbs and is a little better with his walking-on-a-leash skills (and as energetic). In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Cosmowas held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came look for Cosmo (or George), so they are technically available for adoption. Both Cosmo and George will be neutered before being officially adopted. They could be fostered-to-adopt while they are awaiting their neuter procedures with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

George was accompanied by another male Treeing Walker Coonhound (Cosmo) who is most likely his brother. This magnificent boy has a white/black/brown short smooth coat, rather long legs, a long tail, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked Coonhound face with classic features including extra-large floppy ears which frame his beautiful face. George is a good conversationalist who is always willing to challenge other dogs to a barking contest. His brother Cosmo is usually the more quiet one but he also has a fine melodious Coonhound voice (smile). These pictures of George were taken on the afternoon of March 28th when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied him outdoors for his photo session. George gave us several professional poses as though he were competing in a Westminster Dog Show and also demonstrated his mischievous stances when he noticed one of our shelter mascot kitties in the distance. Neither George nor Cosmo accept cats in their friendship circles and do NOT get along with felines. George weighs approximately 70 lbs and is very strong/enthusiastic on a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, George was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came look for George (or Cosmo), so they are technically available for adoption. Both George and Cosmo will be neutered before being officially adopted. Story
Cuddles is a beautiful 1-1/2 year old female Beagle/Chihuahua mix who was brought to the HSOV on February 10, 2026 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden along her housemate Luna and two other tiny friends. These little girls/boy have been on safekeeping status and have been kept together. Their owner made the difficult decision to surrender Cuddles and Luna on June 24th, so both are now available for foster/foster-to-adopt while they await their spay procedures. Cuddles has a lovely white-and-gray coat, a long tail, and an adorable gray/white/tan face with expressive brown eyes, a gray/blue nose, a slender muzzle, and large floppy ears. This little dollbaby has a sweet, easygoing personality and loves attention (and to play with her tiny housemates). These photos of Cuddles were taken on June 28th when HSOV Volunteer Angel Grosklos accompanied her for outdoor glamour photos on a hot, steamy June afternoon. Angel and Cuddles enjoyed some one-on-one time together under a cool shade tree while they watched Luna posing for her photo session in the green grass with HSOV Volunteer Jennie Sherrard Cuddles had the most serene-looking expressions on her beautiful face while she was showered with attention by Angel. Cuddles was rather quiet/docile while she was outdoors and Angel knew that was 'out of character' since Cuddles was usually very playful (especially with one of her tiny housemates) .. Sure enough, when Cuddles was back in the lobby with the teeny male housemate, she was definitely in play mode. Cuddles weighed 32.7 lbs when she entered our shelter on February 10th 2026. This little sweetheart will be spayed in the near future and will be ready to find a home of her very own with a special someone to cuddle up with (pun intended) (smile). Cuddles could be fostered-to-adopt while she awaits her spay procedure with an approved HSOV adoption application.

Story
Brownie (aka Bubba) is a cute 6-year old male Miniature Pinscher/Beagle mix who was surrendered to the HSOV on March 6, 2026 for a heartbreaking reason since his owner has been hospitalized and is no longer able to care for his beloved pet. Brownie may look familiar to many of our HSOV volunteers and Facebook fans since he was adopted from HSOV in December 2021. Brownie has enjoyed 4-years and four months with his adoptive owner and surely misses being in a loving home with the person who adored him. Brownie has a black-and-brown short smooth coat with a smidgeon of white on his chest, a long tail, and an adorable (rather mischievous-looking) face with a tan mask, a slender muzzle, and magnificent large floppy ears which frame his face. This little guy is full of playful puppy-like energy. Brownie adores his adult people friends, but he doesn't do well with other dogs, cats, or young children. Brownie has been kept indoors. Brownie weighs approximately 21 lbs and walks fairly well on leash. He has already been neutered. These photos were taken on March 6, 2026 when HSOV Shelter Manager Tracy Lynn Moore helped Brownie with his 'big boy' outdoor pictures and gave him extra attention while telling him what a good boy he was. Since Brownie has already been neutered, he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application. We'd love to see him back in a home environment instead of in a small shelter floor crate. Update:: Brownie went home with a foster family on March 20, 2026 who plans to adopt him if all goes well. Brownie was returned at closing time on March 20, 2026 because he was nipping/growling at a grandchild in his foster family's home. Brownie is NOT good with other dogs, cats, or children and prefers to be an 'only child/dog' in his adult family's home. Update: Brownie went home with a foster family on April 11, 2026 who plans to adopt him if all goes well. Brownie was returned by his foster family on April 14, 2026 because he wouldn't eat for some reason.

Story
Kansas is a beautiful 1-1/2 year old female Hound/Beagle mix who was brought to the HSOV on June 1, 2026 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden after she was found on Congress Road in the Belpre Ohio area. Kansas was not wearing a collar, and she was not microchipped. This little beauty has a tricolor short-haired coat, a long tail, and a pretty tan-and-white face with dark brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and large floppy ears. These updated photos of Kansas were taken on June 3rd 2026 when HSOV Volunteer Miley Kiggans accompanied her for outdoor glamour pictures. Kansas gave us her best poses and quick smiles for the camera. This sweet girl has a friendly, rather demure, personality, and she loves attention. Kansas weighs 50 lbs. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Kansas was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Surprisingly, as of June 8th nobody had called or came looking for Kansas. If you recognize this beautiful girl or know who her owner might be, please leave a comment here or call our shelter (740.373.5959).
