Story

"Beans" is a rescue from Laredo, but we adopted him in San Antonio. (We call him "Beans" because he reminds us of the color of cocoa and coffee beans.) We've had him about 1.5 years, and we think he's 2 or 2.5 years old. He's energetic and LOVES walks. He really likes to play with other dogs and cows. Our work schedules have changed drastically, and we're unable to him give the attention he needs. He looks forward to his "num-nums" of peanut butter on bread with garlic and brewers yeast tablets (this has helped keep his coat nice and shinny, and helps keep fleas away). He likes to be around his people to get pets and scratches. He DOES NOT beg for table food as we have never given him food from the table. He's house broken, kennel trained, and does not get on furniture either. If you become his best friend, he gives you goo-goo eyes. He's a big ham when we're cooking in the kitchen and he thinks we'll give him scraps (he just stares and stares at you.)

We found Luna on the streets and decided to take her in. She was found wondering with her mother who’s a blue heeler and her dad who looked like he was half pit and half lab. She’s a super sweet dog but she is afraid of little kids. We have 2 other dogs they are all dominant females which leads them to be aggressive towards one another. Luna is very fast at learning new tricks as long as there is a reward of treats. She’s territorial so she does not get along with other dogs at all especially through a fence. Luna loves to cuddle and keep someone around. She has separation anxiety especially after getting close with someone. At night she prefers to sleep underneath a bed frame , I’m not sure why but it’s also just to be close to someone. She has a hard time getting into a bath but once she’s in she won’t even try to escape, she accepts her fate. She’s a little short but she has a high jump. Luna loves toys and loves to play with deflated soccer balls or tough toys with squeaker in them

Are you ready to be the center of attention? With me and my stunning grey-blue coat by your side, all eyes will be on us as we walk down the street together.I’m an active boy and a little frustrated sitting in a kennel all day. I want to be out there, with you, my best friend, doing ALL the things! Once I’m out of my kennel and on a walk, I’m an excellent loose leash walker and extremely well mannered. I know commands like “sit” and if there are treats involved, I’m sure to be a very good boy.I love the yard and will zoom around to get my energy out, chasing each and every toy. Don’t worry though! Even though I might have a burst of energy, I don’t get too jumpy or out of control. I simply like to play, play, play. You know what else I like? Scratches, especially booty scratches!I’ve made some fence line friends here at the Center and I do enjoy the company of dogs, especially my gal pals. I’d like to meet any puppers you might have just to make sure we can be best buddies before I go home with you.My playful, sweet side really shines through when I’m with my person or my family. The Center volunteers adore me and I help out as a demo dog for volunteer training sessions. I sure do love the part when I get to eat treats and demonstrate how to sit or stay.The volunteers say I “have been wonderful to work with,” and I know my forever family, when they finally come to the shelter to meet me, will think I`m just as wonderful.

Hi! I’m Bruno, an intelligent young dog and a quick learner.I get a little nervous with new people but if you give me a chance to warm up to you, I will turn into a happy, bouncy pup. Once you’re in my circle of trust, I will love on ya’ like there’s no tomorrow.I’ve lived with children before but I do prefer older ones. Little kids are cute and all, but they can be somewhat unpredictable and that scares me. I’m not too rough when I play, so I can be a perfect playmate for your older kiddos.My favorite games include fetch and tug of war but please only use rubber toys. The threading on cloth toys is delicious but it makes my belly ache. I really like walks, especially in quiet neighborhoods. Parks aren’t my favorite place. Too many new people and dogs. I walk pretty well on a leash and I`m always happy to stretch my legs.I’m playful with dogs I know but just like new people, new dogs can be scary so I need slow intros. I had a cat BFF in my last home that I loved to play with and wouldn’t mind another feline buddy.I’m pretty serious about my sleep and naptime and like for those to be uninterrupted in my crate. Petting me while I’m asleep can scare me, but when I’m awake and active, I’m all about the cuddle.I love my humans and get some separation anxiety when they leave me for a long time. I tend to bark a bit when anxious, so my ideal home would be a stand-alone home where the neighbors are far enough away that my occasional barking doesn’t bother them. Apartments and condos are a little difficult for me.I do love my food and I’m a good boy who sits for treats. I’m really excited to meet my new forever family and finally go home and get some snuggles.
