RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Meet Patty Melt! Patty Melt is about 7 years old and a 50 pound female Catahoula mix. She is blind but learns to navigate her surroundings very well. Patty Melt loves her people. She can be slow to warm up to strangers and needs a good sniff first, but once you’re approved she’s all love and belly rubs. She is content to hang out all day and sleep, snore, and play with toys. She happily sleeps in her crate, and does not cause any trouble left alone in the house out of the crate. Patty Melt is currently being fostered in Columbus, Ohio. She would do best in a home without young children or fur siblings. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventions. I am looking for a home that will help me continue my confidence-building journey. I know I am super smart, at least that is what everyone tells me, and would excel at all types of training and activities. I am so smart I even know when it’s time for me to go outside, or if it’s getting close to breakfast and dinner time. I will even bring my food bowl to you, so you won’t forget.
