Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Mack Mack is a 2-year-old Bluetick Coonhound looking for his forever home. Despite not having the most stable start to life and being bounced around between a couple of homes, Mack hasn’t let it dim his spirit. He’s a sweet, affectionate boy just waiting for the right person to give him the love and stability he deserves. Mack is great with other dogs and is currently living with 3 other coonhounds in his foster home. He does need a home without children, and he would do best with someone who understands hounds and is willing to give him patience, consistency, and time to settle in. This handsome guy LOVES going for walks and will absolutely let you know when he spots deer or other critters He’s proud of his beautiful hound voice, so a house would likely be a better fit for him than an apartment. Mack is crate trained and likes sleeping in his crate with his blanket. He’s also a big fan of attention — he’ll lean right into you for pets or flop over for belly rubs whenever he gets the chance. Mack may have a few quirks that make him a little harder to place, but underneath it all he’s a loving, loyal dog who simply needs his special person. If you’re hound-savvy and looking for a companion with lots of personality and love to give, Mack could be your perfect match ❤️  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All animal breeds and ages are a best estimate August 22, 2026, 11:04 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Scout – Your Loyal Packmate! Breed: Blue Tick Coonhound / Great Pyrenees Mix Age: 1 year old Scout is a gentle, laid-back soul with a playful streak and a heart full of loyalty. He’s excellent with other dogs, cats, chickens, and people of all ages. A true pack animal, Scout thrives in the company of other dogs and  must  be placed in a home with at least one canine companion. Separation from his pack makes him anxious, so he’s looking for a family that understands his need for togetherness. Personality & Skills: Calm, affectionate, and easygoing Loves to track and chase deer—his hound instincts shine! Curious and clever (yes, he’s an escape artist!) Walks well on leash with a gentle trot, though he can be a little fussy about it Dislikes car rides but is working on it Special Notes: Scheduled to be neutered this month (we hope this helps with his wanderlust!) Currently underweight due to being picky about food, but he’s on a weight-gain journey and doing great Must live in a country setting with plenty of space to roam Best suited for an experienced hound owner who understands his instincts and energy If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will bring joy and adventure to your life, Scout might be your perfect match!   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Say helllooooooo to Alabama! Alabama is an adorable Beagle/Bluetick Coonhound mix who recently came to FDHS as a surrender through no fault of her own. And true to her hound dog roots, this girl has a LOT to say! Alabama has the classic hound howl and, boy, does she love to sing. Alabama came from a multi dog household and does well with other dogs. She hasn't had a ton of exposure to our shelter cats yet, but she was certainly curious about them and enjoyed checking them out through the screened catio. This sweet girl could use a little brushing up on her basic manners, but she's very treat motivated and eager to learn. She's still figuring out this whole leash walking thing and has recently discovered that comfy beds are, in fact, pretty fantastic. She's catching on quickly!Alabama may need a little help learning the ropes, but she's a sweet, lovable girl who is going to make someone an absolutely awesome canine companion. Alabama is officially accepting adoption applications to find her forever family!
