Story
Meet Rex an 17 month old 20 pound poodle guy:)!  Background: Rex was adopted as a puppy and loved dearly but his family had to move out of country and could not take him with them.  Personality: I am a slightly reserved guy until I get to know and trust you. I love car rides, walks and playing fetch with a ball. If you tire no worries I will get my toys to play with. I am independent but I do love to run and play as I love every dog I meet! I really will do best in a pretty stable environment...I do love kids and people who honor my need to meet you and trust you at my pace:) My foster mom says I am a treasure AND I need a fairly stable environment. He does need a confident person as he will check in and need behavior checks. His foster mom will be very happy to talk with you about what works for Rex and what does not work! Health: Rex is up to date on all shots,  he is neutered and microchipped. Training: Rex is housetrained and walks well on a leash. He does know some commands and is a super fast learner! He is very gentle with other dogs and children. He loves adults once he gets to know and trust them but he needs structure and patience. He does need a confident person as he will check in and need behavior checks. His foster mom will be very happy to talk with you about what works for Rex and what does not work! Ideal Home: My perfect, forever home would be with some one who loves to play fetch, go for walks and has another dog for me to play with.  Can you commit to continuing my basic training and providing me with a lifetime home for the next 12+ years?  If so, please complete an application at the rescue's website,  www.helpadogsmile.org  and my foster family will be glad to give you a call to see if we might be a perfect match.  Thank you and woof woof!  Adoption Requirements: Rex has an adoption fee is $350. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think he could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up. January 6, 2026, 11:53 pm
