Story
Meet Simmba! Simmba is a thriving, loving, loyal, and affectionate boy who truly shines when he’s with his person. Sadly, he was surrendered to us the day after Christmas after spending much of his life confined to a yard where, as the children grew older, he received less and less attention. Since arriving at Shelter Hope, Simmba got a fresh start with a grooming makeover and lots of care. Though the physical and emotional neglect he endured has left its mark, Simmba’s spirit is strong. He can sometimes guard people and may lash out if he feels cornered, so he would do best in a home committed to helping him work through these behaviors with patience, consistency, and plenty of exercise. If you’re ready to give Simmba the loving guidance and active lifestyle he needs, you’ll find in him a devoted companion who will reward you with endless affection and loyalty. ------ Looking to Adopt? Story
This girl is on fire! Meet Leasha Keys (AKA Alicia Keays), the tender terripoo who is ready for her second chance. This 1.5-year-old and 16lb sweetheart came to us as an owner surrender from Taft after her family moved into a home that didn't allow pets. All four of their dogs were surrendered to Shelter Hope. Leasha is a soulful girl who loves quiet moments and gentle pets. Even when she is feeling nervous, she’ll lean in for snuggles and return the love with little small kisses. She does great with other calm dogs. She walks well on a leash and likes car rides! She's a pro at using the doggie door and appears to be housebroken. Her foster tells us that she is such a love, and that they enjoy her every day! Right now, Leasha is being treated for an eye injury that has caused some swelling. She’s safe, comfortable, and getting lots of love in her foster home as she rests and heals. We’ve started her on a new eye drop to help with inflammation, and it’s possible she may need ongoing medication unless the eye is removed. That decision will be made at her 8-week checkup. If you’re looking for a gentle, snuggly best friend, Leasha Keys is your match! She’s spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to be "Fallin'" in love with a forever home! —----- Looking to Adopt? Story
Hendrix is an 8-year-old Papillon mix with two beautiful, mismatched eyes. His world was turned upside down when his family moved to Canada and, sadly, left him behind in their backyard. We don’t know how long he was out there, but it looked like he got tangled in his harness, leaving his shoulder sensitive. Thankfully, Shelter Hope heard his story and took him in. We’re not sure why his family couldn’t bring him along, but when he arrived, it was clear his teeth were in rough shape and he needed urgent dental care. Shelter Hope got him the treatment and now he is feeling much more comfortable. Hendrix is a quiet, curious, and independent little dog who enjoys his cozy bed, watching the world go by, and exploring his surroundings. He’s not quite ready for physical affection from new people and prefers to be left alone as he settles in, but he does appreciate having peaceful company nearby. With time, patience, and kindness, Hendrix is slowly learning to trust again. Once he feels comfortable, he’ll come up for soft pets and will even show off his obedient side. He knows the “sit” command, seems potty trained, and loves soaking up the sun. He loves to go on walks and explore. He’s gentle, good with other dogs, and continues to make progress every day. Hendrix would do best with a calm, understanding family who will let him come out of his shell at his own pace. If you’re looking for a peaceful, loyal companion who will quietly fill your home with love once he learns to trust, Hendrix is your perfect match! More from his foster: Hendrix takes a little time to adjust, after one week he has fit in with our two small pups. He loves attention and follows us around the house always ready for pats and attention. He walks well on a leash and is not aggressive to other dogs we meet. He has had no "accidents" and sleeps through the night on his bed in our bedroom along with our two ----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers.
