Story
Meet Simmba! Simmba is a thriving, loving, loyal, and affectionate boy who truly shines when he’s with his person. Sadly, he was surrendered to us the day after Christmas after spending much of his life confined to a yard where, as the children grew older, he received less and less attention. Since arriving at Shelter Hope, Simmba got a fresh start with a grooming makeover and lots of care. Though the physical and emotional neglect he endured has left its mark, Simmba’s spirit is strong. He can sometimes guard people and may lash out if he feels cornered, so he would do best in a home committed to helping him work through these behaviors with patience, consistency, and plenty of exercise. If you’re ready to give Simmba the loving guidance and active lifestyle he needs, you’ll find in him a devoted companion who will reward you with endless affection and loyalty. ------ Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Be Ready: If your application is selected, our rescue counselor will be in touch for a phone interview. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. Please Keep in Mind: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!

Story
This girl is on fire! Meet Leasha Keys (AKA Alicia Keays), the tender terripoo who is ready for her second chance. This 1.5-year-old and 16lb sweetheart came to us as an owner surrender from Taft after her family moved into a home that didn't allow pets. All four of their dogs were surrendered to Shelter Hope. Leasha is a soulful girl who loves quiet moments and gentle pets. Even when she is feeling nervous, she’ll lean in for snuggles and return the love with little small kisses. She does great with other calm dogs. She walks well on a leash and likes car rides! She's a pro at using the doggie door and appears to be housebroken. Her foster tells us that she is such a love, and that they enjoy her every day! Right now, Leasha is being treated for an eye injury that has caused some swelling. She’s safe, comfortable, and getting lots of love in her foster home as she rests and heals. We’ve started her on a new eye drop to help with inflammation, and it’s possible she may need ongoing medication unless the eye is removed. That decision will be made at her 8-week checkup. If you’re looking for a gentle, snuggly best friend, Leasha Keys is your match! She’s spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to be "Fallin'" in love with a forever home! —----- Looking to Adopt? Story
Oreo is a female Poodle mix, 11 years old and weighs 8 lbs. The previous owners took her to the shelter because they apparently could not take financial care of a ‘visually impaired’ dog. Oreo was terrified being in the shelter and missed her family and was going to be euthanized for space due to her age and limited vision. One of our volunteers rescued her shortly before this could happen. Oreo can see shadows so is not completely blind and able to get around her Foster Dad’s house without any issues. She needs a calm, quiet household where she can live out her retirement and be loved. Oreo is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. If you are interested in her, please complete the application on our website: amrdog.org. LOCAL AREA ADOPTION

Story
Sylvester Pawllone (AKA Sylvester Stallone) (AKA Sully) is a sweet 1.5 year old and 14 lb Bichon Frise/Maltese mix who had a bit of a “Rocky” start. He was found as a stray on the streets of San Bernardino. With no collar, tag, or microchip, and not neutered, Sylvester came to us through kind-hearted rescuers who wanted to give him a second chance. Sylvester is a friendly and affectionate little boy. He loves to run in the backyard and play, especially with squeaky toys and balls. He adores his walks and does great on the leash. Sully is great with other dogs, enjoys pets, and is quite the cuddler! His foster family also says he seems house-trained / pad trained, and is comfortable in his crate. Now fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, Sully is ready to star in his next big role, as the new member of the wonderful forever family he deserves! More from his foster: Looking for the paw-fect dog? Say hello to Sully!!, a sweet little boy with the best personality and a growing confidence. After arriving into our foster care, Sully quickly showed his sweet character — from wanting to snuggle on your lap to going on walks, he is really good on a leash. He also loves car rides and meeting new people. Oh, and he’s housebroken too!! In the home, Sully is calm, gentle and affectionate. We are currently working on basic training such as “sit” which he’s picking up fast!! Sully has done wonderfully well with our young Grandchildren, and loves to have his belly rubbed and ears tickled. He’s very gentle at taking treats from your hand, and he loves to sit right next to you on the couch and doze off!! We don’t hear a peep from him at night and he’s always so happy and joyful when he wakes up. Sully's energy level is relaxed and calm. He’s just happy to be in your company. We have been amazed how quickly he has become part of the family. He really is no trouble at all and will make someone the perfect pet. ----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire!
