Story
Meet Victoryl! He is the sweetest boyl! He is a 5 year old that was rescued from a breeding farm before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Victory and some of his family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app January 19, 2026, 9:11 pm

JENNY--Help needed JENNY is in need of sponsorship in our sponsorship program to pay for the remainder of her extensive veterinary costs. We are raising funds for all of her diagnostic procedures--Xrays, Ultrasounds, CBC, Urinalysis--for her extensive dental work, and extraction and suturing of six very bad removed teeth, and for her bladder stone removal surgery, JENNY is a Maltipoo, a Maltese/Poodle cross. Jenny is 7 years old and weighs about 15 pounds. She is a cream and white color, and she is also hypoallergenic! JENNY is very intelligent and inquisitive. She is housetrained, sweet, gentle, playful, loving, affectionate, a lot of fun to be with, and not destructive. Dogs like JENNY also require regular ongoing grooming maintenance to prevent dangerous matts and tangles in the fur which can cause serious skin damage. To learn more about additional help we need for JENNY'S veterinary care, please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal email address for sponsorships and donations).

Story
Noel was found outside a 7-Eleven in Inglewood with no microchip, alone, scared, and covered in fleas. A Good Samaritan took her in and searched for an owner. After her 10-day stray hold was complete, it had become clear that Noel had been dumped. Shelter Hope heard her story and welcomed her with open arms. Thanks to the Peewee Fund, founded by a generous donor in honor of senior dogs, Shelter Hope was able to take her in and fund any medical she needed. After her vet visit and a much needed grooming, Noel is feeling much more comfortable! This tiny 8-year-old Shih Tzu mix weighs only 8 lbs. She’s a sweet, affectionate girl who finds comfort being close to her person and would love to be someone’s quiet little shadow. Noel enjoys pets, cuddles, and cozy lap time, though she’s a bit sensitive about being lifted off the ground. She does well with other dogs and is good on a leash too! Noel has an eye ulcer and will need daily eye medication in both eyes for life. Now fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, Noel is ready for a patient, loving home where she can relax, feel safe, and be adored just as she deserves! More from her foster: Day one of fostering Noel made herself right at home. She is sweet, calm and loves to cuddle every chance she gets. She is great around other dogs. She loves long walks. She kinda just does her own thing and watches from a distance when my two dogs play with each other. Nothing startles her other than when somebody coughs, and she’ll just get up and walk away. Applying her eye drops is easy, she is laidback and doesn’t fight. Noel is the perfect dog for somebody who wants a calm and cuddly companion! ------ Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Story
James Bone 007 is on a mission, not to save the world, but to find his forever home! This dashing 9-year-old, 13 lb Maltese-Pom mix was found wandering the streets of Compton after an ICE raid, likely separated from his owner. With no microchip and no way to trace his family, James spent a month in foster care while neighbors searched for his owner. Then, he was brought to us at Shelter Hope in the hopes of finding him a wonderful new home. Since moving in with his foster family, James has proven himself to be a true gentleman. His foster says he seems house-trained (not a single accident!) and will politely sniff at the door when he needs to go out. He walks beautifully on a leash, enjoys leisurely strolls in the park, and, like any alert little secret agent, keeps an eye on the world around him, sometimes barking at other dogs or out the window. James is a wonderful companion with excellent manners. He adores children, warms up easily to adults, and loves being near his humans, though he’s also independent enough to settle quietly on his own. He enjoys snuggles and pets but isn’t overly clingy, and he’ll happily follow you from room to room, waiting patiently by your side. Though his foster noticed that his hearing may not be the best, James doesn’t let it slow him down one bit. He’s thriving, happy, and ready to share his sweet, steady presence with a family who will love him. James Bone 007 is ready for his greatest adventure yet, finding a forever family to call his own! ------- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers.
