Story
When Mulberry was captured by urban management, he was not in pretty shape - he had a cataract in his eye, his fur was matted, long, and dirty. We suspect he was abandoned by his owner due to his old age and eye problem. One day Mulberry couldn't get up from his crate, he was immediately taken to the vet and we found out he had pancreatitis. After his care ended, someone said they would adopt Mulberry so our rescuer fought to get him out of the urban management shelter. Unfortunately, they backed out. Now, Mulberry lives with many other dogs at the rescuer's own sanctuary, but we hope someone kind can bring him home and give him the life he deserves. This poor boy had been through so much, yet still so kind and friendly. Mulberry is currently in China, and available to fly to you in the coming months. Please send us an email if you are interested in learning more about him and our adoption process!

Story
FOR ADOPTION in southern Ontario: Hi… my name is Bea. I’m only 3 years old, I weigh just 5 pounds, and if I’m being honest… I don’t understand why I’m still waiting. I don’t know what diabetes is. I don’t know why some people see that word and decide I’m too much. I only know that I love people with my whole heart. When I arrived at my foster home, I didn’t waste any time. Within an hour, I had found a lap, curled into a tiny little ball, and fallen asleep. That night, I climbed into bed like I’d always belonged there. Because that’s who I am. I don’t believe strangers stay strangers for very long. I believe every lap is meant to be shared, every blanket is meant to be burrowed under, and every person I meet could be my forever family. I love racing you to the couch before you can sit down (I usually win). I disappear under blankets until all you can see is a tiny lump. My foster family says I’m like a teddy bear that came to life because all I really want is to be as close to my people as possible. I’m wonderful with kids—even the tiny humans! I’m currently living with a 2-year old, and we’re doing great. I can go from joyful zoomies to peaceful cuddles in seconds. I’ll proudly let you know when someone comes to the door, and I give leash walks my very best effort, even if my little legs think they’re much bigger than they really are. There is one thing you should know about me. Every day, I need insulin. I don’t like the needles, but I trust the people who love me, so I stand still, take a deep breath, and let them help me. That’s what brave little girls do. My diabetes is something I live with but it isn’t who I am. I’m still happy. I still get excited for breakfast. I still love to play. I still love to snuggle under the blankets. And I still have so much love left to give. Maybe you’re the person who will look past my diagnosis and see me for who I really am, a tiny little dog with a giant heart who just wants a family to call her own. All I want is a home where I never have to wonder if I’ll be loved tomorrow and someone who can provide for my medical needs. I may need a little extra care, but I promise I’ll spend every single day showing you that I’m worth it. If you’re willing to open your heart to a little dog who will love you with everything she has, I’m waiting… and I can’t wait to finally come home. Love, Bea PS: adoption applications are here: https://teamdogrescue.ca/you-can-help/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
*Note: Benny is currently in Korea but will be arriving in Toronto once he is adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please visit our website.BackgroundBenny’s story began on the streets. After being taken to a high-kill shelter, his name appeared on the euthanasia list but fate had other plans. He was saved just in time, and today Benny lives happily alongside other dogs at a boarding house, waiting for the forever home he so deserves.Personality and SocializationBenny is a gentle, sweet, and wonderfully social boy with a medium energy level that makes him an easy, adaptable companion. He loves the company of other dogs, especially those around his own size. He plays well with them and genuinely thrives in their company. With people, Benny is an absolute cuddle bug. He’s warm and affectionate, loves attention, and has no fear of men. Whether it’s snuggle time on the sofa or simply being near his people, Benny is happiest when he feels connected.BehaviourBenny is a well-mannered, easy-going boy in day-to-day life. He walks beautifully on a leash and loves his outdoor time. He is calm and comfortable in the car, and is equally patient and well-behaved during baths, nail clipping, and grooming sessions. For potty, he prefers to go outdoors but will use indoor pee pads when needed. He currently shows no separation anxiety when in the company of other dogs.Health and DietBenny is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped, and receives monthly parasite prevention. He eats dry food twice a day and has shown no signs of food allergies. Benny has recently developed nuclear sclerosis, a natural age-related change to the lens of the eye that causes a mild hazy appearance. It is a common symptom associated with aging.Benny was diagnosed with Stage B2 heart disease and requires daily heart medication. Benny, however, met an angel who has generously offered to cover the cost of his heart surgery. He is now scheduled to undergo surgery in the third week of July 2026. We are all hoping for a successful surgery and a smooth recovery so Benny can enjoy many more happy, healthy years with his loving family.Ideal HomeBenny doesn’t ask for much. He just wants to be loved. His ideal family is someone who can give him plenty of time and companionship. A work-from-home professional or retiree would be a wonderful match. Most importantly, his new family should be comfortable managing his heart medication and attending routine vet check-ups. In return, Benny will give you everything he has: unconditional love, endless loyalty, and all the cuddles you could ever want. Could you be the one he’s been waiting for?
