Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an online application at www.dpsrescue.org.    Pride. Prejudice. Purring. Meet Mr. Darcy. Some gentlemen make an entrance. Mr. Darcy simply assumes you'll come to him. And honestly... You probably will. Mr. Darcy is a 7 year old distinguished gentleman with striking good looks, impeccable manners (most of the time), and enough charm to convince you that your schedule should naturally revolve around his. He's affectionate, loyal, wonderfully talkative, and has perfected the art of making people feel like they've been personally chosen by royalty. If you're searching for a tall, dark, and handsome companion... Your proposal has officially been received. Whether it is accepted depends largely on your willingness to provide regular meals, cozy blankets, and quality ear scratches. Mr. Darcy has standards. One of those standards includes acknowledging that 3:00 a.m. is a perfectly reasonable hour to remind you he exists. After all... How else would you know he loves you? Fortunately, he makes up for these occasional midnight meetings by being one of the sweetest companions you could ever hope to meet. He'll happily curl beside you while you read a book, settle in for movie night, or spend a quiet afternoon supervising your work from the comfort of a nearby blanket. He's the kind of cat who believes companionship doesn't require constant activity. Just shared space. And maybe a snack. Especially a snack. Mr. Darcy's dignified personality tends to disappear completely around mealtime. Suddenly the composed gentleman who was quietly surveying the room transforms into an enthusiastic food critic eager to discuss the evening's menu. He has opinions. Important opinions. And he's not shy about sharing them. In fact, Mr. Darcy is wonderfully vocal. He enjoys carrying on conversations with his people and believes communication is the foundation of every successful relationship. Whether he's greeting you when you come home, reminding you dinner is approximately thirty-seven seconds late, or simply commenting on the day's events, life with Mr. Darcy is rarely quiet. When it comes to playtime, Mr. Darcy prefers quality over quantity. He's long since graduated from the nonstop chaos of kittenhood. Every now and then, however, a toy mouse makes the mistake of crossing his path... ...and suddenly it's game on. A few enthusiastic swats later, balance has been restored to the universe, and Mr. Darcy can return to his regularly scheduled lounging. His ideal home? One where he can be the undisputed king of the castle. Mr. Darcy would prefer to be your one and only pet, allowing him to devote all of his considerable affection—and receive all of yours in return. Give him plenty of room to stretch out dramatically, a few sunny windows for neighborhood observations, soft blankets worthy of afternoon naps, and humans who appreciate quiet companionship, and he'll consider life nearly perfect. There's something especially wonderful about black cats. Despite being overlooked far too often, people who share their homes with them will tell you the same thing: They're unforgettable. Mr. Darcy certainly is. He has the kind of personality that sneaks up on you. At first you'll admire his handsome face. Then you'll laugh at one of his dramatic conversations. Before long you'll realize your favorite part of every day is hearing his little greeting when you walk through the door. Imagine ending your evening with a good book, a warm blanket, and one distinguished gentleman purring contentedly beside you. Imagine waking up—perhaps a little earlier than expected—to discover Mr. Darcy has decided your most important appointment of the day is giving him attention. Imagine spending years with a loyal companion whose greatest ambition is simply being close to the person he loves. Some love stories begin with grand gestures. This one begins with a polite meow...and may occasionally continue at 3:00 in the morning. Mr. Darcy has been neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, dewormed, flea treated, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150. If you're ready to share your home with a handsome gentleman who has impeccable taste, excellent conversation skills, and just the right amount of charming drama, Mr. Darcy is ready to accept your proposal.  July 21, 2026, 3:40 am

Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an online application at www.dpsrescue.org.    Reach for the Stars... Orion Is Waiting. Some cats dream of climbing to the top of the cat tree. Orion assumes that's where he belongs. Named after one of the most recognizable constellations in the night sky, Orion is a 1 year old Bombay mix who seems determined to spend as much time as possible up where the stars live. If there's a bookshelf to conquer, a high windowsill to supervise from, or the very top perch of a cat tree available, you'll probably find Orion there—looking down at his kingdom like the handsome little king he is. But don't let his lofty ambitions fool you. This boy is equal parts athlete, comedian, and cuddle bug. If you've never witnessed feline parkour, Orion would be delighted to provide a live demonstration. One minute he's quietly watching a toy... The next he's launching into the air, bouncing off furniture with Olympic-level precision, twisting, turning, and somehow landing perfectly every single time. We're honestly considering submitting his audition for the next action movie. His favorite prey? Wand toys. Springs. The occasional bug that accidentally wandered into the house and immediately regretted its life choices. Nothing escapes Orion's attention when he's in hunting mode. Of course, every superhero needs downtime. After a busy day of acrobatics, Orion transforms into an affectionate sweetheart who loves being with his people. One of his favorite little quirks is burrowing under blankets, where he creates his own cozy hideaway before drifting off to sleep. If you ever can't find him, don't panic. Check under the covers. There's a very good chance you'll discover one happy little cat tucked in like a burrito. Orion is wonderfully social and has the kind of easygoing personality that fits beautifully into many different homes.  He would also do well with another friendly cat, a cat-savvy dog, or respectful children. Orion approaches life with confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love for being part of the family. If Orion could write his own wish list, it would be refreshingly simple: A tall cat tree. Very tall. Maybe taller. A basket full of wand toys and springs. A few soft blankets for his famous burrowing sessions. A sunny window where he can keep an eye on the birds. And people who occasionally applaud his athletic performances. (Trust us...they're impressive.) Imagine laughing as Orion launches into another gravity-defying leap after a feather wand. Imagine finding a mysterious lump under your comforter, only to discover it's your favorite little blanket-loving buddy. Imagine looking up at the highest shelf in the room and realizing, once again, Orion somehow got there before you even noticed. Some cats fill your lap. Orion fills your home with adventure, laughter, and just a little bit of stardust. Orion has been neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, dewormed, flea treated, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150. If you're looking for a cat who's equal parts acrobat, explorer, comedian, and cuddle companion, Orion is ready to become the brightest star in your home.  July 21, 2026, 3:40 am
