Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Meet Darcy, a charming 7 year old guy with a heart as big as his personality. Darcy's sweet nature is immediately apparent; he's the type of cat who will greet you with a friendly meow and a purr. His loyalty knows no bounds, and he's always there to offer comfort and companionship. If you are looking for a tall, dark, and handsome guy that wakes you up at 3am for attention, Mr. Darcy will consider your adoption proposal. His nonchalance quickly evaporates around mealtimes, and he will gladly cuddle with a warm blanket and a good book. Mr. Darcy requires a large space for brooding and a single-pet household because he would love to be the center of all your attention. He's a vocal kitty, communicating his thoughts and feelings openly. His delightful personality makes him a joy to be around. He is not super playful but will bat the occasional toy mice around when the mood strikes him. He loves to get daily pets from his humans and enjoys snuggling up at night with them in bed. Black cats are often overlooked at the shelter, but they have proven to have the absolute best personalities, and Darcy certainly does. He is a fabulous boy. Adopt Mr. Darcy and gain a friend for life. He has been neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, flea treated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150.August 27, 2025, 11:35 pm

One starry night, while exploring an ancient library, he accidentally knocked over a magical tome, which opened a portal right beneath his paws! Salem found himself at our safehouse, much to his surprise. Our vet says he is about 3 years old and while being in his foster home we have realized he would probably do best as the only cat in the house. He wants to be the only feline energy in his forever home. However, he could easily join a home with a cat savvy dog or kids. Despite his unexpected journey, Salem remains a sweet, friendly, and independent soul who loves to cuddle and share his warmth. Adopt Salem and let his magical presence bring joy and mystery into your home! He has been neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, flea treated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150.February 4, 2026, 11:21 pm

Littermates Estella, Gabriela, Carmela Adopt Estella (bold & purry), Carmela (snuggly sweetheart), and Gabriela (playful with a dash of sass)! Born on 6/14/25, these three sweet sisters were found with their stray homeless mama as tiny kittens. They have blossomed into lovely little ladies who are used to the energy and sounds of a busy home — including very loud children! They would love to be adopted together or separately with another vibrant cat(s). Estella (female, black tabby): A truly stellar kitten in every way. She has main-character energy, is endlessly curious, and a total purr machine. Her stripes may be faint, but her personality is radiant. Carmela (female, caramel torbie): A gentle sweetheart. She may act shy at first, but she melts in your arms and loves to cuddle. Gabriela (female, grey tabby): The most reserved of the trio, but also playful and outspoken. She knows exactly what she wants — whether that’s more playtime, hands on love, or extra treats — and isn’t afraid to ask for it! They’ve grown up in a lively house with kids, so they’re ready for any kind of family life. You can meet these sweeties every Sunday 1-4pm at our adoption event at 1250h Newell Ave, Walnut Creek, CA. They have been passed over week after week simply because they’re shy at busy adoption events — but in a home they're pure affection, cuddles, and love. Don’t let their reserved first impression fool you. If you are interested in providing Estella, Carmela, and Gabriela with a loving forever home, contact sponsor Marilyn at marileealong@comcast.net and foster Nicole at 925-980-8126. Adopt one… or make it double… or triple! They are vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped, and are located in Contra Costa County, CA. Story
Affectionate, people-loving cat who enjoys long cuddles but also gives you space when you need it. He has an excellent temperament — calm, gentle, and easygoing — and truly enjoys being around people. Born March 2023, neutered, and indoor-only. He has no behavioral issues, is litter-box trained, healthy, and well cared for. An easy companion who fits naturally into daily life and would do especially well in a home looking for a relaxed, social cat.

Story
Cheeto is a sweet and affectionate 4-year-old cat who absolutely loves being around people. He has a gentle nature, especially with children, and is incredibly patient and well-behaved around our toddler. We also have an older cat and recently welcomed a newborn into our family. With two young kids and full-time jobs we’ve found it increasingly difficult to give both cats the attention and care they truly deserve. As much as it breaks our hearts, we’re hoping to find a warm, loving home for Cheeto where he’ll be cherished and well cared for. He’s a wonderful companion and would thrive in a home where he can be part of the family and receive lots of love. If you think you could be that home, we’d love to hear from you! P.S. Cheeto is also quite the little hunter. He’s always on the lookout and won’t let a single fly get past him!

Story
Trent is a seven year-old male cat. He was previously surrendered by another owner who had to move away. I adopted him without thinking and and when I adopted him, they told me he was able to eat kibble and that’s what he was eating, but when I give him kibble, he doesn’t eat it, and then when one of the volunteers said his previous owner before they surrendered him. He only ate wet food and he lost a lot of weight. He needs to be in a home because he is seven or someone is there probably a majority of the time and that can give him all the care for him and just watch over him without any distractions and stuff. He just needs someone that can trust. He’s a very sweet cat very outgoing and very social slowed alarm. I’m just looking for someone that is able to give him a good home.
