Meet Asteroid Asteroid was only 8 weeks old with a severe upper respiratory infection when he was found in someone’s yard. Unfortunately his finder couldn’t care for him, so he was surrendered to rescue. When he got here, he was terrified and very convinced that he was going to be hurt. Even gentle touches made him melt into a frozen puddle of terror. Asteroid has come a long way, but definitely has farther to go. He’s comfortable in the house, fully litterbox trained, loves playing with the other kittens, but he’s still very concerned about people getting close to him. He wants to love, sneaking into bed at night for secret snuggles and accepting gentle pets, but he’s still scared of being cornered. We don’t know what he went through before he was found, but with his level of fear, you always worry about the worst. Asteroid needs a quiet home to learn that people are actually nice and that snuggles are freely offered and don’t have to be secret! The first step is to complete the cat adoption application below. Here’s Sparky’s info: This tiny tot joined our foster crew a few weeks ago from a feral colony out past Emporia, where a TNR effort was taking place. He’s about 12 weeks old (as of 7/28/26) and has the most beautiful black and grey, swirly tabby coat! He started off super shy, but once he was out of quarantine and he got to hang out with the other foster kittens, his true personality began to shine thru and he is absolutely adorable!! He adores playing and wrestling with the other kittens and while he doesn’t go out of his way to seek out human attention, he is far more relaxed now when being picked up. Once he settles in for a cuddle and a shoulder scritch, his sweet purr tells us how much he enjoys it. At Sparky’s young age and with him being a little shy, he must go home with another kitten if you do not already have a young, playful cat or kitten for him to grow up with.
