Riley Roscoe, born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat collie/border collie mix. He is a very smart boy and has had extensive training over the years. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Riley has some obvious border collie traits and the second adopter did not have the experience required to channel these traits in to positive qualities, so after a year he was again returned to us. He gets along well with the dogs in his foster home but can act aggressively toward a strange dog he does not know. He is not good with cats. He has now caught his second skunk. The first time he took the live skunk to his adopter’s back door for her. The second time, at his foster home, he caught one but another dog probably killed it and a third dog was carrying it around the yard. He was the one that got sprayed though. Riley weighs about 55 pounds. He is quite smart, wants to please and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and enjoys walking on a leash but does like to pull and will behave aggressively towards dogs he meets while out on the walk. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. If you would like to foster or adopt Riley, please complete the first step in the adoption process by filling out an online adoption application. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember our organization is staffed completely by volunteers. Please Note: All applications are processed in the order received, but an adoption is made to the best application received for each of our animals. All applicants must provide a vet reference on the adoption application. If you are adopting a dog from ARFA, a fenced in yard for the dog will be required. Home visits often occur with each adoption. ARFA has the right to deny adoption to any applicant for any reason without explanation. Please remember that the adoption donation is not for the purchase of the dog, but rather to help cover the medical costs of all dogs in our care. THE FINE PRINT 1. Animal Rescue Fund Arkansas reserves the right to deny any application, for any reason without explanation to the applicant. 2. You understand that we often take many applications on the same animal and that they are processed in the order that they come in. An application is in no way a reservation for any animal or a guarantee that you will be selected to adopt the animal. 3. If your application Is approved, you will be asked to sign a separate adoption contract. 4. Once the trial period is over, usually 1 week unless there are special circumstances, the adoption donation cannot be returned to you for any reason. It will have been used to help rescue another homeless animal and is no longer available therefore, if you return the dog to us for any reason, you will not be refunded your donation. Please remember that if you no longer want the dog, it must be returned to A.R.F.A. 5. If the animal you want to adopt is placed in another home, you can transfer your application to another A.R.F.A. animal without completing additional paperwork. 6. You understand that this is a rescued pet. We rarely have any information about their past life circumstances. We have all animals examined by a vet, brought up to date on shots, given their rabies vaccine, spayed/neutered (If old enough), wormed and checked for heartworms and if positive begin treatment. We do our best to ensure that we are placing healthy pets but can make no guarantee to the health or temperament of this pet, and vet expenses are the responsibility of the adoptive family from the date of the adoption. We require that you take the pet to a vet within one week of adoption for a check-up and to allow your vet to get a baseline for your new pet’s health

Hi there! My name is Willow, and I’m on a quest to find my forever home. You see, I started my journey as a stray and ended up in the shelter. The volunteers all loved me and all wanted to take me for walks so that made my time there happy. But, the reality was I had been there for six weeks and it was getting close to the time I was going to be euthanized. Shelters aren’t bad places & in fact I was at least off the street. I didn’t have to feel stressed searching for a safe place to sleep at night & I no longer had to search for food and water. Shelters only have so much space. They do the best that they can. I am so thankful for a volunteer who had the rescue give me a foster family to live with instead. I wish more families would foster because when the rescue took me out that meant it made space for another dog, and kept one from being euthanized. So, if you’re reading my bio, please consider fostering so some more dogs can be saved. I know the pictures of me are a little unusual because I had another bump of hardship in foster care. I had the best foster parents ever. The problem was that after three weeks of living with them that in my excitement to play with the neighbor dogs, I had a lapse of judgment and jumped over a low part of my foster's fence into the neighbor’s yard. I was horrified when one of the dogs I had just been playing with attacked me. Let’s just say I’m blessed to be here after that incident. After it was all over and done and they knew I was going to be ok, everyone laughed about the fact my amazing foster dad rushed me to the vet without even putting on a shirt! I am not even sure he had shoes on either. How sweet is that? Despite my adventure, I bounced back quickly! I’m a strong, happy girl who loves every dog I meet, big or small, young or old. I’ve got a quirky personality and a heart full of love to give. The volunteer and the rescue people all say the same thing that there’s something about my eyes. They say that when I look at them, it’s like I can see into them with my eyes as if I’m trying to communicate with them. I’m great on a leash —I never pull! I don’t jump and I am very gentle so I would be great with any family. I would be great with a young family with kids, I would be great for someone young that loves to hike or run and I would also be great for someone that is older that needs someone easy on a leash. This sweet guy is still adjusting to life in a shelter, but he does not let that dull the love he has for everyone! Hi my name is Vanilla! Like a vanilla latte, a vanilla cookie, a vanilla soda, or vanilla ice cream! All of these are great names for me, because I'm also a sweet little treat who will add a pop of sunshine to your day! I'm a goofy little girl with some quirks, I love to sit and stare at my foster mom and "chirp" at her until she gives me pets! I also love to remind her that she's not petting me enough by trying to pet her! I love to get my belly scratched and snuggle up with a great blanket. Don't worry if you don't know exactly where the blankets should go, I'll rearrange them to my liking! Sometimes, I even like to burrow into them for a nap or pile them all up and make myself a blanket throne in a sun spot. My life wasn't always so sweet, a rescue lady found me sitting in a ditch out in the country. My pelvis was broken and x rays showed that I have some bbs in my hind quarters too! My pelvis is still healing, so I can't go on long hikes or runs. That's fine though, because you can grab a latte, and a blanket and we can SNUGGLE UP. I immediately brought out my sweet side and was happy to sit in her car and start my journey to forever! All of my teeth were broken as well, so I only kept my top canines and my molars, but that doesn't slow me down AT ALL. I love snackies, I just drool a little extra and my tongue is a little floppier than you might expect. I'm 35 pounds of SWEET SNUGGLE BUG and I'm looking for my forever family (and couch). I get along with the other dogs in my foster house but I don't really like to be crowded. I have an 85 pound foster brother who tries to play with me, I'm still warming up to him and don't like it when he plays too rough but he listens well when I set my boundaries. No cats please! I like to chase them too much. Foster Notes: Vanilla is a great little girl who gets along really well with my senior dogs, she is about 35 pounds and 2 years old. She likes to hang out in the crates sometimes but I do not crate her at night or when I'm not home. In new houses she'll tend to mark, but she stops after one or two days and hasn't had any accidents since. ADOPT VANILLA!!!
