Story
Our beloved Oakley is a red-tri mini Aussie. She's a high-energy, ball-loving, face-kissing, vocal, smart-as-a-whip girl who requires a very active lifestyle. Though timid at first, she loves people, adults and older children especially. She does not do well with other dogs or other animals in general. Young children, especially little boys, make her feel anxious, which is the primary reason we have chosen to re-home her. Oakley would thrive as the sole pet in a house where at least one adult was present for most of the day, who could take her on plenty of walks or hikes, and/or play ball with her in a fully fenced in yard. She thrives off of learning new tricks, loves routine, and is the fluffiest, sweetest shadow. She loves to snuggle at the foot of the bed at night, and beg for cheese as your making dinner. She has some minor dental concerns that require yearly treatment. Like all high-energy pups, she has a mischievous side, but so much love to give!

Monty is a great name for a great dog like me ;) I have the Monty Python kind of humor... goofy and sweet! But, don't mess with my crate! That really is my only "pet: peeve!! I was found on the streets 2 years ago and was adopted as a pup... however, I became the boss in the house and didn't like anyone entering the house that I didn't know :( SO..... Back to the rescue, because they won't give up on me!! So here I am and I have really adjusted to the environment and new people meeting me and treats and lots of love. AND the crew here basically has determined that I need a family/adopters that will be in charge of the house. Someone I can trust to protect me so I don't have to!! I am vocal in my crate, so my crate needs to be away from the common areas so I can relax and not meet everyone that stops by. Once I settle into my new home I will follow your lead! I am a gorgeous boy, with caramel and milk chocolate highlights in my soft fur. I want to please my family and go on all kinds of adventures! I am awesome out and about, meeting new people and new friends :D I hope you will look into my eyes, the windows to my soul, and see the HOPE I have to find my own home again! The rescue is great because I got a second chance, but I REALLY want a home!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

Nebula, a truly beautiful dog. While her past holds some hardship – she was found living on the streets with her seven puppies – her spirit shines through. Nebula is a sweet and beautiful girl, possessing a gentle nature that will blossom with the right amount of patience and understanding. Nebula's intelligence is evident in her quick grasp of commands. She's already house-trained and crate-trained, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt. She enjoys walks immensely, exhibiting a calm and easy-going temperament. What Nebula truly desires is a loving home where she can finally feel safe and secure. While her street life has made her initially cautious around new people, once she builds trust, her playful puppy-like energy resurfaces. It's a beautiful transformation to witness. We believe Nebula would thrive in a quiet and patient home, ideally with someone experienced in working with dogs who have experienced trauma. With the right care, she'll become the most loyal and loving companion imaginable. If you're interested in learning more about Nebula and potentially offering her a loving forever home, please don't hesitate to contact us. $200 In State Adoption Fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State Fee (includes Transportation to your area) $50 Temporary fuel surcharge.

Story
Mali (pronounced Molly) came to Out of the Woods after coming up to a home in a rural area. She was in good shape except she had lots of ticks. We looked for her owner with no success.Mali appears to be an Australian Shepherd mix and weighs 33 pounds. She's a young dog, probably around 8 months old at the time of this post (May 4, 2025). Mali is basically solid black, but she has a small white patch on her chest and some white on her toes on all four feet. Her front legs are brindle in color and she has little brown eyebrows. Her ears stand up and tip over at the ends. Her fur is the softest you've ever felt! It's just so silky. Mali has plenty of energy and so far has been extremely loving to everyone she's met! Crate trained, house trained to a doggie door and learning how to work on a leash, Mali is a well-behaved girl. Mali rides exceptional in a car with no drooling or vomiting (even after her spay surgery!) She also knows some basic commands such as "sit" and will sit before being given her meals. She is a quick learner and minds extremely well so we feel she had a family at one point who taught her some good manners. . The traits of an Aussie are intelligence, an above-average energy level (but not off the charts), great with small children, affectionate and good with other dogs (we don't know about cats). Aussie's are know for their herding ability, but so far we have not seen her attempt to herd anything. Mali would make a fantastic agility dog and is going to be a very nice size when full grown as she will probably stay under 40 pounds. We definitely recommend a fenced yard for Mali and another younger, playful dog would be a big plus for her! She just LOVES the other dogs in her foster home. She's the sweetest little girl that is looking for her forever family. Is it yours? To make the best possible match for you and the pet, please follow the link below to complete the Adoption Application. Once your application has been processed, we'll be in contact. We cannot schedule a meet and greet without a completed application. Please go to http://ootwrescue.org/adoption to fill out an application or review our Adoption Process.Cat adoption fee is $100. Dog adoption fee is $150, unless otherwise specified.

Luna is a tri-colored Border Collie mix who was brought to our shelter because her previous owners could not take her with them for their move. She is a sweet and friendly pup who loves people and getting to run around the yard. Story
Meet Kage, the ultimate good boy who's just so darn cute! This gentleman is a pro at house living, fully potty trained, and a master at walking on a leash and harness. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and loving those backyard playdates with his pals. Kage is a stunning mix of Lab and Border Collie, the perfect blend of intelligence and family-friendliness. He's just the right size, like a mini Lab or a slightly larger Border Collie. When you find two fantastic things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, you celebrate! Kage is that winning combo, and now you can celebrate by making him a cherished member of your family. His temperament is pure gold - sweet as honey with everyone he meets. Now, here's the scoop: Kage is a special needs pup, and he's looking for someone who can be with him about 90 percent of the time. Storms, rain, and loud noises send him into severe panic attacks, and he's been known to chew through walls when anxiety strikes. Crates aren't his jam because of past storm-related trauma. He's also dealing with seizures, so he's on medication for that. Kage would thrive in a local adoption, and he's best as a single dog with no cats or small animals around. He's a wonderful companion for older kids, and he loves nothing more than cuddles and long walks. He's got the whole house training thing down too. His foster mom adores him and has prepared him for his forever family as best she can. Now, the ball is in your court. Remember, when you adopt Kage, you're not just bringing home a good boy; you're giving him the loving, understanding home he deserves. Don't shop, adopt, because Kage's life depends on it! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Lilo Layla may be a complex name for a simply happy puppy but it helps describe who I am :) i AM a happy/hoppy puppy, my foster mom says i have very high energy- which interprets as..... I need kids and other dogs to wear me out :) See?? Not so hard to interpret!! I am also called: sweet, stubborn, and finally ALL PUPPY!!! That likely doesn't need an explanation :D We believe I am part Heeler and Border Collie. I have serious puppy teeth so older kids better for my puppy teeth :) I am afraid of Cats, even though I want to chase other small animals, I got RESPECT for the kitties! I am crate trained, learning to walk on a harness and leash. She goes from 0 to 100- ALL PUPPY!!! So there you have it! I am the total package! 1) PUPPY, 2) very CUTE, 3) SMART, 4) GOOD WITH EVERYONE (except squirrrels, lol) and AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)
