Story
Carol has a huge loving heart and she is ready to find a family of her own to share it with. She loves to hug, tumble, wrestle and give kisses first thing in the morning. She likes to play with other dogs but also enjoys playing on her own with rope toys and entertaining herself with chew bones. She knows sit, stay and come and is working on other commands. Carol is crate trained and sleeps there all night and is mostly housetrained. We are unsure of Carol's breed mix, but she is a stunning girl with long legs and a beautiful ginger coat. Border Collie, spaniel, Australian Shepherd mix are all possibilities but whatever she is, it works! Carol is full grown at just under 1-1/2 years old, and she is a perfect medium size of 48 pounds. You can apply on line at www.hsvawl.org by completing the Adoption Application on the home page.October 3, 2023, 7:30 am

Story
Rocket, Mr. Personality, just found his way into the OOTW program, coming from a situation where we are almost positive he was dumped. Living at a campsite in the southern part of the state, a kind woman was going to feed him every few days, but she was unable to take him home. Then more help arrived and Rocket was loaded up and brought to Little Rock and OOTW was waiting with just what he needed. The rescuers are fostering Rocket and getting him house trained and crate trained. He's doing exceptional because he's a smart boy ... a young border collie mix, probably about a year old. Not only handsome, this boy is super smart. He is a tri color pup with the hair and looks of a border collie and honestly, even his personality border collie, sweet as sugar!. He's a very nice boy and allowed the OOTW volunteer to give him his shots and oral medications with zero issues. He actually SMILED (yes, SMILED!) when she came in the door. Rocket also works just fine on leash. Other dogs and a cat live in his foster home where Rocket and there have been zero problems there. So other dogs or even cats in his new home will be just fine with him. This boy is truly a special boy who is loving and very grateful to have his belly full every night when he beds down. Honestly, he just seems so relieved to be getting the help he needed. If you would like to adopt this sweet boy, start with the Adoption Application ... the link is just below. Adoption fee is $150.To make the best possible match for you and the pet, please follow the link below to complete the Adoption Application. Good with dogs,
Story
Tulsi Sleeping: She is used to dog beds, a nice furry rug but has never slept in a human bed. She is free roam day/night. She chooses dog beds in primary room or living room. Vehicles: She is used to riding in a pick-up's back seat (never the open bed of a pickup). Has been car sick on winding roads. House trained: Tulsi is fully potty and house trained. She has had no accidents since a young puppy. She will walk to the back door and sit/stand to alert she needs out. Tulsi does not need a crate when you are out of the house. She's never been in a crate during the time she was in her adopoter's home or current foster mom's home. She is not a counter surfer or a chewer. Treats/Toys: Tulsi enjoys bully sticks, furry stuffed animals with squeakers. She takes treats softly with a gentle mouth. Doggie companions at home: Tulsi has lived with dogs her whole life. She's never been a single dog. She's lived with small dogs and large dogs of both genders. She does not care for cats. She has a strong prey drive for squirrels and is VERY fast and strong when she's got her mind on catching that squirrel. This would likely go for cats too. Tulsi does enjoy playing with her pack mates but is almost more content being inside with her people. Best home environment: Tulsi's best home environment would be with a calm confident doggie pack mate so she has a playmate. BUT honestly she'd do just fine being a single dog with an active person. She seems to want the attention of people over the attention of dogs. She is a velcro dog and wants to be everywhere her person/people are. She would even do well as a small home/apartment dog because she is quiet, not destructive and very body aware. She doesn't knock things over. Tulsi would also make a great waking, running pr hiking partner. Personality: Tulsi is a very loving dog and loves to be pet. She loves to raise up on her back legs and give hugs as well we receive. She has good recall with "TULSI COME" and appreciates a treat as a reward when she comes. She doesn't jump on people as if she has no boundaries, but has been taught to ask for hugs and scratches this way. She is a big soft gentle girl that loves baby talk. She is an excellent companion. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
"Reya" and "Tig" are brother and sister, found wandering by themselves. This is their after bath photo. We are guessing they have some Border Collie in them and are around 3 months old. Tig has the larger white patch in his chin and chest. Raya is mostly black except for the smaller white patch in her chin. They will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated by Friends of Horseshoe Bend Animals. Meet Reya or Tig by calling 870-670-4474. Adopt for $30! Disclaimer: All dogs are marked as housebroken so that they are more likely to be seen. The truth of the matter is that we just can't know for sure.
