Story
Border Collie mix puppy, maleMeet Manny, Moe, and Jack; a trio of 14 week old Border Collie mix pups. They have huge paws, and could be Pyrenees mixes. No rear dew claws, but they have the look.  The boys, along with their mom, Belle. They were found locked in a cemetery in Taft and were rescued by a large, organized, grass roots group, and we were tracked down to take them. The boys are just great! They are soft and sweet. totally confident and outgoing. Not all claws and teeth either, they have soft dispositions, except with each other! They play hard!  They are learning to coexist with a lot of other well-balanced dogs. Manny is chipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations.   Manny is in Templeton, CA. Story
Border Collie, femaleWelcome Haiku from a small rural shelter in Taft, CA. We don’t know anything about her backstory other than she was found as a stray and wound up behind bars. Haiku is a diamond in the rough (coat), slated to become poetry in motion. She arrived filthy and covered in hundreds of ticks, some the size of grapes. We’re still picking, but one thing remains true…she’s got a heart bigger than the entire universe. She even gives hugs. Forget Velcro, this girl is the strongest form of superglue on the market. Anyone that will give her the time of day, she will attempt to morph into their body and become one. She’s also great with other dogs - very congenial and appropriate. Cats, critters, livestock unknown at this time but the girl is biddable and aims to please, so probably workable. Haiku is young - probably not more than a year and knows nothing of domestic life so she’ll need a training-focused person or family to help get her up to speed with leash walking, potty training, basic obedience, and manners (she’s a big time jumper, leg diver, and love you to death kinda gal). She’s proven resilient, eager to learn, treat motivated, intelligent, adaptable, all the things so it should be a breeze but she’s not quite plug and play yet. Again, her heart is absolutely in the right place so with a training savvy handler, she will shine in no time. Haiku is a border collie through and through. If you know, you know - all the mannerisms and intensity. Breed experience required. She will need adequate mental and physical stimulation to stay fulfilled and flying right. She is 40lbs full grown, spayed, and UTD on vaccines. Haiku is Arroyo Grande, CA More photos and updates:  https://www.facebook.com/www.cchdrescue.org/  search in posts and photo albums. Story
Border Collie maleWelcome Piccolo from Stanislaus Animal Services!  Piccolo was listed by the shelter as 2 years of age, but our trusty foster who happens to be a veterinarian thinks he’s quite a bit younger. He’s 60lbs. Piccolo is ready for a home…one that is training focused and can handle the equivalent of a bull in a china shop. This guy is big, bouncy, and jovial. His vibe, love you to death. He’s dog social and a big time player so resident dogs buckle up. Cats, critters, livestock unknown at this time. He did sleep soundly in a crate overnight, not a peep. Piccolo is microchipped, neutered, and UTD on vaccines. Piccolo is in Reedley, CA (south of Fresno) for a few days and then he’s headed to the Central Coast of CA. Story
Border Collie/Cattle dog mix, femaleSofi is a 1.5 Y, 35lb, cattle dog / border collie mix.  Sofi could no longer be with her past owner, through no fault of her own, and the shelters are packed to the brim. Fortunately, a foster stepped up and she is now decompressing as a CCHDR dog.   Her foster has this to say: Despite her obvious fear of being in a new place without her previous person, we see glimmers of awesome in Sofi already. You can tell she is a good girl and will be a 100% velcro dog with her new humans. She didn't even have a collar on her when she showed up, and her previous owner showed no concern she would run away. She will adapt and overcome, but she will need, patient and experienced people for her new owners so she doesn’t have to go through this all again.  Sofi treat motivated, sleeps well in her crate overnight, and is very intelligent. She seems to have the beginnings of great recall, and has been completely non-reactive with our cats . She is dog friendly and according to her former person excellent with young kids. Sofi is going to be someone’s best friend so long as they allow her time and space to learn how to love and trust again. Sofi is spayed, chipped, and up to date on vaccinations.  Sofi is in Templeton, CA More photos and updates:  https://www.facebook.com/www.cchdrescue.org/  search in posts and photo albums.
