Story
Meet Lizzy – Brainy, Bouncy, and Full of Spark ?Lizzy is a smart and spirited Border Collie mix who brings big personality wherever she goes. She’s playful, affectionate, and always ready to engage—whether that’s chasing toys, learning new games, or soaking up attention from her favorite people. Lizzy knows sit, takes treats enthusiastically, enjoys car rides, and has a soft side that comes out once she settles—snuggles included.True to her herding-dog roots, Lizzy has lots of energy and opinions. She can be reactive to other dogs, especially behind barriers, and does best with slow introductions and a small, carefully chosen dog circle—or as an only dog. Impulse control and leash manners are works in progress, but she’s highly food- and toy-motivated, making her a great candidate for positive-reinforcement training. In the yard, she loves to zoom, explore, and then cool off (sometimes literally—she’s been known to take a dip when tired!).Lizzy also has some orthopedic considerations: she has an abnormal gait with patellar issues and arthritis in her hind legs. Surgery is the gold standard, but if that’s not an option, she’ll need a couch-potato lifestyle, joint supplements, and pain management under veterinary guidance. Think mental enrichment over marathon hikes—puzzle toys, training games, and structured play will be her jam.If you’re looking for a clever, loving dog with a big heart and a bigger personality, Lizzy might just be your girl. She’s ready for someone who sees her not as “too much,” but as just right.

Story
Naomi is an adorable, herding-type girl whose energy, intelligence, and enthusiasm are very typical of this breed category. She recently enjoyed a lunch outing with staff and showed just how fun and engaging she can be.She loaded easily into the car and was clearly excited for the adventure. While she did some happy wiggling and exploring at first, she settled in well with only occasional vocalizing. At the café, Naomi walked politely, sat calmly while ordering, and relaxed beautifully once food arrived, soaking up the sunshine and downtime.Naomi truly shines when she gets to move. She loved zooming around on a long line, splashing in the water, and rolling in the grass. She appears well-suited for an active home and may excel in dog sports or other structured activities that give her both physical and mental outlets. She is very treat-motivated and already knows cues such as sit, speak, and paw. She is eager to learn, with down still being a work in progress. During play, Naomi can become overstimulated and may jump up or grab at arms with some pressure while vocalizing, which is common in herding-type dogs. She responds well to redirection and slows easily with treats, and continued training will help her build appropriate play skills.Despite her high energy, Naomi also knows how to settle and relax during quieter moments, happily recharging when given the chance.Naomi is ready to go and would thrive with an adopter who understands herding breeds and is excited to continue her training, provide structure, and embrace an active lifestyle.

Story
Scout is a two-year-old purebred border collie born on December 9, 2023. Unfortunately, due to my work slowing down, I have been unable to provide him with a new environment with adequate space for him to run around. The ideal owner will have fenced in land. Scout is well trained but not trained as a herding dog. Scout loves playing with other dogs, but one thing to note is that larger dogs - without proper introductions - can intimidate Scout. For example, he snipped at my girlfriends Doberman the first time they met, but after a short walk and throwing the ball around they were inseparable for the rest of the day. The only other thing worth noting is that Scout is fairly anxious and very emotionally receptive, for this reason Scout responds best to women - softer voices more specifically. He is not generally anxious throughout the day, however certain things can set him off such as physical contact with others like wrestling or play fighting as well as fighting on the TV.
