Story
Scout is a two-year-old purebred border collie born on December 9, 2023. Unfortunately, due to my work slowing down, I have been unable to provide him with a new environment with adequate space for him to run around. The ideal owner will have fenced in land. Scout is well trained but not trained as a herding dog. Scout loves playing with other dogs, but one thing to note is that larger dogs - without proper introductions - can intimidate Scout. For example, he snipped at my girlfriends Doberman the first time they met, but after a short walk and throwing the ball around they were inseparable for the rest of the day. The only other thing worth noting is that Scout is fairly anxious and very emotionally receptive, for this reason Scout responds best to women - softer voices more specifically. He is not generally anxious throughout the day, however certain things can set him off such as physical contact with others like wrestling or play fighting as well as fighting on the TV.

Story
Naomi is an adorable herding-type girl whose intelligence, enthusiasm, and playful spirit are exactly what you’d expect from this active breed group. She recently joined staff for a lunch outing and showed just how fun she can be. Naomi loaded easily into the car and, after some excited wiggling at the start of the adventure, settled in nicely for the ride. At the café she walked politely, sat calmly while food was ordered, and relaxed in the sunshine once everyone was seated. Naomi truly shines when she gets to move—she loved zooming around on a long line, splashing in the water, and rolling in the grass. She’s highly treat-motivated and already knows cues like sit, speak, and paw, with down still being a work in progress. Like many herding dogs, she can get a little overstimulated during play and may jump up or grab at arms while vocalizing, but she responds well to redirection and is eager to learn. Now living in a foster home, Naomi is thriving and showing what a wonderful companion she can be. She rides well in the car, is house trained, and does well when left home alone. She enjoys playdates with a friend’s dog and gets along great with her canine buddy. While she hasn’t yet been around cats or children in the foster home, she has been a fantastic houseguest and continues to show her happy, affectionate personality. Naomi would do best in an active home that can give her the exercise, mental stimulation, and continued training that her smart herding brain craves. In return, she’ll reward her adopter with endless fun, loyalty, and the joy of sharing life with a truly special dog.

Story
When the sun shine, we shine together, told you I`ll be here forever, said I`ll always be your friend...you should adopt Ella, Ella, eh, eh, eh. Whoops, didn`t see you standing there! I`m Ella, and I`m about to SHOWER you with soooo many kisses! I`m a spritely, border collie-esque girl who can be timid at first, but I warm up quickly and will slither into your lap in no time. As you might guess, I`m also quite intelligent, so much so that I can be a bit of an escape artist if left unattended, so leashed walks or a secure yard with supervised outside time would be most ideal for me. I`ve been very friendly with other dogs but would likely do best without kitties. Get to see this adorable face up close - ask to meet me!

Story
This is Diego. He's an 11 month old Aussie mix that needs a foster home. He was a "free dog" online and the original owners did not represent him honestly with the new owners. Things are not working out and he needs to be properly placed (after full vetting). He is scheduled dor neuter on Tuesday. We hope to have a foster in place by then. He's great with his people and FEMALE dogs. His behavior around cats is unknown because the family does not have cats. There was a pretty bad fight between Diego and the senior male dog in this family. Since the fight the family has been distrusting of his behavior around the four-year-old as well so to be safe they have kept them separate. This is why he has to go. For this reason, we do not want him fostered with male dogs until he has been vetted and properly evaluated. We also do not feel that he should be placed in a home with young children until vetting and evaluation. He's a beautiful boy and deserves a happily ever after. We can help him find it!! It may well be he just needs his testosterone to be taken care of. Many dogs settle down after neuter and it's never fair to these animals when the original owners do not divulge all the information to the new owners. We feel this is a combination of situations that has just worked against Diego. Foster application can be filled out through this link: https://petstablished.com/foster_form/31711/generic If you fill out a foster application please give our director a heads up as we do not have a volunteer readily responding to applications at this time. It helps us to know that one has been submitted. You may text Aspen at 352-843-6858 ##1357659##

Story
Meet Appa!Appa has been on quite the journey since arriving as a stray on 11/13, and he’s more than ready to find his perfect match! He’s house-trained, great with kids, and has even done well around horses—making him a fun and versatile companion.Appa is a smart, treat-motivated boy who loves being out and about. Once he’s out of his kennel, he settles nicely and shows off his calmer, affectionate side. He would thrive in an active home that can give him the space, structure, and attention he deserves. He prefers to be the star of the show or have thoughtfully managed dog interactions, and he’ll do best in a home that doesn’t rely on crating. With the right setup, Appa is a loyal, loving companion just waiting to shine.
