Story
Naomi is an adorable herding-type girl whose intelligence, enthusiasm, and playful spirit are exactly what you’d expect from this active breed group. She recently joined staff for a lunch outing and showed just how fun she can be. Naomi loaded easily into the car and, after some excited wiggling at the start of the adventure, settled in nicely for the ride. At the café she walked politely, sat calmly while food was ordered, and relaxed in the sunshine once everyone was seated. Naomi truly shines when she gets to move—she loved zooming around on a long line, splashing in the water, and rolling in the grass. She’s highly treat-motivated and already knows cues like sit, speak, and paw, with down still being a work in progress. Like many herding dogs, she can get a little overstimulated during play and may jump up or grab at arms while vocalizing, but she responds well to redirection and is eager to learn. Now living in a foster home, Naomi is thriving and showing what a wonderful companion she can be. She rides well in the car, is house trained, and does well when left home alone. She enjoys playdates with a friend’s dog and gets along great with her canine buddy. While she hasn’t yet been around cats or children in the foster home, she has been a fantastic houseguest and continues to show her happy, affectionate personality. Naomi would do best in an active home that can give her the exercise, mental stimulation, and continued training that her smart herding brain craves. In return, she’ll reward her adopter with endless fun, loyalty, and the joy of sharing life with a truly special dog.

Story
We adopted Hatchet when he was 6 months old about 4 years ago. Hatchet loves to cuddle with myself and my Husband until another animal He came to our home which had 1 dog and a cat. Hatchet played well with both the dog and cat for about 2 years. We moved to a new home 2 years ago and once we moved Hatchet became aggressive towards the Dog and Cat in our home as well as aggressive behavior towards other animals. We had him in Dog obedience which he became aggressive towards the others dogs. We have talked to the Vet to see how to help him and they recommended a walking treadmill, he refuses to use the treadmill. We do have a mussel that we use when we bring him out. The last visit at the Vet Hatchet snapped at the Vet as they were trying to complete their daily check up on him. He would benefit from a home that he can be the only animal and have a space to run and get exercise. He protects our house and loves to cuddle and be the center of attention.

Story
This is Diego. He's an 11 month old Aussie mix that needs a foster home. He was a "free dog" online and the original owners did not represent him honestly with the new owners. Things are not working out and he needs to be properly placed (after full vetting). He is scheduled dor neuter on Tuesday. We hope to have a foster in place by then. He's great with his people and FEMALE dogs. His behavior around cats is unknown because the family does not have cats. There was a pretty bad fight between Diego and the senior male dog in this family. Since the fight the family has been distrusting of his behavior around the four-year-old as well so to be safe they have kept them separate. This is why he has to go. For this reason, we do not want him fostered with male dogs until he has been vetted and properly evaluated. We also do not feel that he should be placed in a home with young children until vetting and evaluation. He's a beautiful boy and deserves a happily ever after. We can help him find it!! It may well be he just needs his testosterone to be taken care of. Many dogs settle down after neuter and it's never fair to these animals when the original owners do not divulge all the information to the new owners. We feel this is a combination of situations that has just worked against Diego. Foster application can be filled out through this link: https://petstablished.com/foster_form/31711/generic If you fill out a foster application please give our director a heads up as we do not have a volunteer readily responding to applications at this time. It helps us to know that one has been submitted. You may text Aspen at 352-843-6858 ##1357659##

Story
Hi there! I'm Orca. I was originally found as a stray by the county shelter. The shelter environment there was starting to stress me out, so my VOCAL friends thought a change in scenery might help me out! I'm an energetic boy who loves to play. I'm super sweet, but I definitely need a good outlet for my energy! I love to play and be rowdy with other dogs. Give me some long walks and playtime and I'll be a happy guy!
