Story
Meet Shep This handsome puppy is amazing. Shep is a six month old border collie mix. Shep is incredibly handsome. He has the warmest brown eyes, the cutest of ears and a gorgeous shiny black and white coat. He weighs 30 lbs. He may grow a bit more, but will be in the medium range. He is super sweet and affectionate. He is gentle and loving. And, he’s whip smart. Shep is energetic, like all puppies, but he learns quickly. Shep is athletic and loves to run and romp. He will make for a wonderful hiking, biking. running and travel buddy. He loves being with his people. He is most likely house- trained but might need more gentle guidance. Shep seems to like other dogs but will chase animals. Shep has working dog in him, and will benefit from consistent and gentle guidance. Shep will need a containment fence to keep him safe. He will also benefit from treats and toys that keep his mind engaged. Shep is a love. He is an absolute gem that will make for a loyal and loving companion. If interested in Shep, please submit an application online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Emma was born March 2, 2015. We adopted her in July of 2018 as a rescue. She loves to play catch and loves attention. She gets along with our cat and she has never been aggressive to another dog however she is territorial and protective. She seems to have a fear of men and people of color. If she thinks a man is threatening or approaching her people, she will bark, run after them and nip at them. She will also attempt to herd by nipping at ankles on bikes or four wheelers. She is super smart and easily trainable. We can let her out and she will not run off and will listen well. We are moving to a very small home. We feel she needs a single female home or a home with a large yard to run.
