Story
Meet Shep Shep is a great young dog. He’s about 1.6 years old and is ready to find his own family. We think Shep is a border collie/ lab mix. This boy will make your heart sing and your family complete. Shep is high energy, friendly, smart, affectionate, outgoing, happy, gentle, and fun-loving. He loves people and dogs. Another energetic dog in the home will do wonders for Shep. He loves playing. Shep is house- and crate-trained. He has incredible manners and knows how to transition easily into a home. He will make for a wonderful all-around companion. He loves hiking and walking. He loves to play, run and chase. He is extremely smart and learns quickly. He likes to travel in a car and go places. He’s confident and embraces new experiences. He loves being with people and will do well with older kids; he could be a little too enthusiastic for toddlers or young kids unsteady on their feet. Shep is a small/medium sized dog. He looks bigger in his pictures, due to his big and happy personality. He just shines like the brightest star! As a working/ herding dog, Shep will chase cats and other small animals. He’ll benefit from consistent and gentle training to redirect his attention. Shep will need a containment fence to keep him safe. He will also benefit from treats and toys that keep his mind engaged. Shep is a lovebug. He is an absolute gem that will make for a loyal and loving companion. If interested in Shep, please submit an application online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Story
Meet Misty Beautiful Misty and her gorgeous sisters Dazzle and Hermione are safe with us. These puppies have lived a very rough life until now. The damage done to them is heartbreaking, but they are on the mend. Misty was starved as a young pup and the sisters were left to fend for themselves. Tiny and alone, they experienced no love, or safety and protection. And there has been no explanation as to where their mama was. Misty is very shy and clings to her sisters in their kennel. She wants so badly to be brave, but it’s going to take some time. Misty is very sweet, just uncertain. She intently watches her sister Dazzle, the bravest of the girls, and is learning from her to trust hoomans, ever so slightly. Misty is thought by our vet to be a cattle dog mix based on her size and her very unique look with one bright blue eye. She is about six months old. Her eyes reflect sadness and uncertainty. We’re trying so hard to erase her past and show her it’s blue skies ahead. Misty has put on weight, taking advantage of having food at the ready, but she is expected to remain small, most likely under 35 lbs. Misty has a very sweet temperament. She is calm and quiet. She seems to like other dogs, and loves being with her sisters. She may enjoy being adopted with one of her sisters or having another confident, calm and friendly dog in the home to show her the ropes. She’ll need a fenced yard to run and play safely. She walks well on a leash. Misty will do well with a patient and gentle family. She may do better with older children, not because she’ll bite or knock them down, but because she needs time to feel comfortable. She can get scared easily with things she doesn’t understand. Misty is going to be a great dog and being in a home where she feels safe and loved will be so wonderful for her. Perhaps you’ll be the one to undue her past and help her into her loving future. If interested in Misty, please submit an application online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. Miles is Male and Lola is female. They are great dogs I love them so much.. it’s just getting really hard now that I have a nine month old and a baby on the way. They deserve a nice loving home that will be able to play with him more and cuddle with them or possibly let them sleep in the room with them they used to sleep in the bed with me until I had my daughter. Lola is a little over a year and miles im not sure his age exactly He’s around four or five I would say.

Story
"Introducing Acorn, the two-year-old pup with the soul of a wise old lady. Despite her youth, Acorn exudes the calm and disciplined demeanor of a dog who's seen it all, especially since she's rocking the one-eyed look with grace due to a cherry eye condition. But don't let her mature attitude fool you-Acorn has a silly side that shines through, especially on car rides or when she's joyfully rolling in the grass. She's a people-pooch through and through, always ready for a cuddle or a playful moment with her human friends. While she might not be a fan of feline companions, Acorn's heart is big enough for everyone else. If you're looking for a loyal friend who can bring both tranquility and laughter to your life, Acorn could be your perfect match! she'd be a wonderful addition to a loving home
