Story
Meet Breezy Breezy is an approximately 2-year-old Border Collie mix with a sweet personality, a curious mind, and a story that shows just how resilient she really is. Before arriving at the shelter, Breezy spent nearly three winter months roaming north of Marshalltown. A kind homeowner had been feeding her every day and slowly working to gain her trust, but Breezy just wasn’t quite ready to be caught. When progress stalled, he reached out to Paws of Hope Animal Rescue for help, and thankfully, Breezy was safely brought into our care. Once she knew she was safe, Breezy started to blossom. She warmed up to people quickly and now loves attention, scratches, and time spent running in our large play yard. She is smart, inquisitive, and has that wonderful Border Collie brain that wants to observe, learn, and be part of what’s going on. Breezy was recently returned from an adoption because she and the other dog in the home were not the right match. Breezy knows her manners and loves people, but she seemed unsure of how to interact with the resident dog and was uncomfortable with that dog’s play style. We are still assessing Breezy with other dogs so we can better understand what type of home will help her feel most confident. For now, we know Breezy needs a patient adopter who will let her settle in at her own pace and help her continue building trust. She may do well with a calm, respectful dog after proper introductions, or she may prefer to be the only dog in the home. Breezy is affectionate, smart, playful, and full of potential. After everything she has been through, she deserves a home that sees her for who she is: a sensitive, loving dog who is ready for a fresh start. Breezy’s adoption fee includes her vaccines, spay, microchip, and health testing.
