Story
We have had Dash since he was 8 weeks. He is very loved. He is almost 6 years and in the last six months he has become increasingly aggressive towards our female. He is very territorial and growls and snaps at her. He becomes aggressive with us if we try to correct him. We are heartbroken to re-home him but with small children who visit often we are concerned. He will be best with no children and no other pets. He loves to fetch a ball or frisbee he will sit, stay (sort of) lie down, shake and loves affection. Loud noises seem to stress him out like whistles from a game on tv or gunfire on a tv show. He likes a soft bed in a den or kennel some small space he can get into to feel better. He enjoys car rides. He is a little wary of men but typically adjusts if you let him get comfortable. We want a loving home for him and feel helpless at this point having tried medication and behavior therapy.

Story
Huckleberry was dumped near our property (July 2024) and since we were unable to make contact with his owners and he got along well with our dogs, we kept him. Our 3 cats were raised with dogs, so they didn’t seem to mind him being so high energy. He needs a great deal of attention and struggles at times with having accidents in the house, though he is house trained and does understand that he needs to go outside. Due to his breed, he has a tendency to nip. This summer we had a baby and since then I have started babysitting other kids. We have discovered that he nips at small children and doesn’t seem to understand why he can’t do that given that he is a herding dog. He is very affectionate, friendly, and sweet, but we cannot risk him harming our child or someone else’s. We are heartbroken that he can’t stay and would love to find him the perfect home with an owner who is prepared to entertain him. Preferably if he can have other furry playmates.
