To help streamline the adoption process and ensure we have the necessary information about potential adopters, please follow these steps:1. Understand the Difference: Submitting an inquiry or application on Adopt-A-Pet is not the same as applying for the dog or cat. Inquiries provide us with minimal information about the potential adopter, making it challenging for us to evaluate suitability.2. Submit an Application: We kindly ask that you submit an adoption application on our website to be considered for adoption. Please choose the appropriate application link below based on whether you are interested in adopting a dog or cat:~ Apply here (DOG): https://davincisdream.org/dog-adoption/~ Apply here (CAT): https://davincisdream.org/cat-adoption/3. Be Patient: Keep in mind that we are a volunteer-based organization, and we receive a high number of inquiries and applications. Due to these constraints, we may not be able to respond to every inquiry individually. However, submitting an application provides us with the necessary information to consider you as a potential adopter.**TRANSPORTS**We are based in Columbia, KY, and extend our services to other locations through our transport program. To ensure the safe and responsible transport of our animals, we currently only transport to these destinations: Greenwood, IN, Wilmington, OH, Washington, PA, and Lake City, FL.To be eligible for transport, dogs/cats must meet specific criteria:1. Approved Application: You will need to submit an adoption application for the animal and receive approval. Please also note that clicking the "I'm Interested" button on PetFinder is not an application. To start the adoption process, you need to fill out an application on our website.2. Deposit Paid: A deposit must be paid as part of the adoption process.3. Transport Contract Signed: The potential adopter must sign a transport contract, indicating their commitment to meet the dog on the designated date. The "Transport" label next to each animal's name signifies that this animal is available for transport, but please remember that this transport service is exclusively for dogs that meet the above criteria. This ensures the safety and well-being of the animals throughout the journey. For more information about our transport process, please visit our website here: https://davincisdream.org/transport/READ ABOUT OUR ADOPTION FEES: https://davincisdream.org/adoption-fees/**ADOPTION FEES**To view the adoption fees for our animals, please go to the "Dogs" or "Cats" tab and select "Available Dogs" or "Available Cats." Then, click on the profile of the animal you are interested in. The adoption fee for each animal is listed on their individual profile page. Please note that the adoption fees listed on our website are for in-state adoptions within Kentucky. Out-of-state adoptions will incur additional fees, which must be paid upfront as deposits.Additionally, the adoption fee listed on Petfinder includes the total fee, including transport. You may notice a lower fee on our website when viewing the animal's profile; this fee is for in-state adoptions only. For more information about our adoption fees, please visit: davincisdream.org/adoption-fees/.**FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS) FOR OUR DOG LISTINGS**Before reaching out to us, please take a moment to review these frequently asked questions. We strive to provide you with all the information you need right here. Please understand that due to the high volume of inquiries, we may not be able to respond to questions covered in this FAQ section.1. Are your dogs potty trained?Unless the dog's bio specifically states that they are potty trained, you can assume they are not. Many of our rescue dogs come from challenging circumstances and may not have been exposed to housetraining. Housetraining is typically the responsibility of the adopter.2. Do you transport to other locations?Currently, we transport to Wilmington, Ohio, Greenwood, Indiana, Washington, PA, and Lake City, FL.3. Is this cat/dog still available? If the cat or dog is listed on Adopt-A-Pet and does not have an "adoption pending" tag on the website, we are still accepting applications. However, please be aware that we often receive multiple applications for each animal.4. How long does it take to hear back about my application? It can take up to 10 days to receive a response from us. If you do not hear back within this timeframe, please understand that we may have chosen not to move forward with your application. We are a volunteer-based organization and, while we read every application, we may not be able to respond to each one individually.Thank you for your interest in adopting one of our fur babies and for taking the time to review these FAQs. Your support and understanding of our processes are greatly appreciated as we work tirelessly to find loving homes for our rescue animals.

Story
URGENT: SPECIAL MEDICAL FOSTER OR ADOPTIVE FAMILY NEEDED! Lucie Bee is a 2 year, 7 month old female Golden Retriever (about 68 lbs) and her BFF Buddy is a 3 year, 8 month old Border Collie/Akita mix (about 50lbs) and they are the kind of pair who just belong together! These two came to GRRAND after their family experienced a heartbreaking loss, and through all of the change in their world, they’ve held tightly to the one thing that has remained constant: each other. They are wonderfully bonded, deeply connected, and, as one person lovingly described them, “like peanut butter and jelly.” Buddy Bee is the black-and-white charmer of the pair — friendly, social, and full of love. He doesn’t know a stranger and seems to believe every person he meets is simply a friend he hasn’t said hello to yet. He’s the more outgoing half of this duo and brings a happy, easy warmth wherever he goes. Lucie Bee is Buddy’s beautiful golden sidekick. She’s a little softer and more sensitive at first, but once she settles in, she does just fine. If Buddy is the social butterfly, Lucie is the sweet soul who takes a minute to look around, make sure all is well, and then quietly let her lovely personality shine. She’s a good girl who seems to draw comfort from having Buddy close by... And Buddy is very happy to oblige! She is also able to clear a 4 FT high fence, so a privacy fenced yard or professionally installed invisible fence would be best to keep them contained. These two truly seem to balance each other in the best way — Buddy bringing the confidence, Lucie bringing the gentle heart, and both of them bringing a whole lot of sweetness to the table. They are curious, affectionate, fun and pretty calm dogs. They are an awesome pair. Lucie is also facing a medical hurdle right now. After arriving at GRRAND not wanting to bear weight on one of her back legs, she was evaluated by our vet and diagnosed with a torn CCL, which means she will need surgery. Because of that, GRRAND will be looking for a medical foster for Lucie while she recovers. Our hope, of course, is to find a foster willing and able to take both Buddy and Lucie together, because they are so very close. We also understand that fostering a dog recovering from orthopedic surgery while also taking on a bonded pair is a big ask. If needed, they may have to be temporarily separated during Lucie’s recovery, but only if absolutely necessary. Buddy Bee and Lucie Bee are looking for a soft place to land, a family who will appreciate the sweetness of a bonded pair, and a home where they can continue the next chapter of life together. They’ve already been through a great deal, but they still have so much love to give to a loving new family. If your heart has room for two very special best friends, Buddy Bee and Lucie Bee would love to meet you, so please fill out an app at GRRAND.org and we can make this meet and greet happen! ##2778287##
