Story
Meet Remi! At 2.5 years old, Remi is a sweet soul looking for a family to call his own. He’s happiest when he’s outside, whether it’s strolling around on a walk or running with glee in a yard. Remi has an active spirit, and his joy is contagious when he’s out and about enjoying the fresh air. Remi has shown a special comfort around women and can be a hesitant with men. But with a patience and understanding (and a few tasty treats!), he is trying to learn that men aren’t so scary. He’s treat-motivated and already knows how to “sit,” showing he's not just adorable, but smart too. This active boy absolutely lives for his time outdoors. Whether he's going for a walk, exploring the yard, or zooming around just for the fun of it, Remi’s happiest when he’s moving. He walks well on leash, though he may pull a bit now and then—he’s a strong guy with a big zest for life! Remi is looking for a home where he can feel safe, go on adventures, and be loved for the sweet boy he is!  Personality: Sweet, active, and affectionate Leash Manners: Walks well on leash, some occasional pulling Favorite Activities: Loves walks and exploring outdoors Training: Knows some basic commands like “sit”   Volunteer Notes: “Loves to sniff and run around, super sweet! “Very sweet! Great walker and treat motivated” “Such a good boy!”   *Just a heads up, the way dogs behave here at the shelter might not be exactly how they act in a home environment. Dog behavior can change once they find their forever family. These are just our observations from their time at the SPCA of SWMI.* ##2353767##

Story
Name: Rocky Breed Guess: Border Collie Age: 2 years old Gender: Male Weight: Approximately 50 pounds Children: 5 + Cats: Yes, will sometimes herd them Dogs: Yes, Meet and Greet Required Adoption fee: $395 Hi there, I'm Rocky! I might be a little shy when we first meet, but give me a bit of time and you'll see just how sweet I really am. I'm a Border Collie, so I've got a smart brain and a gentle heart. I like quiet moments, gentle pets, and slowly building trust with my people. Once I feel safe, I'm all yours, ready to be your loyal companion through it all. I've been at the ARP since 4/14/25 and an currently in foster. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Max would love to be your furry best friend. Max is around 10 1/2 years old. He is a sweet boy who loves belly rubs. He can be active or a couch potato as long as he is with you then he is happy. He doesn't do well with other dogs, cats or children. He would do best with an individual or a couple of any age. if you or someone you know is looking for a loyal and affectionate dog, please reach out. It breaks my heart to have to rehome him and I want to make sure he is going to a home where he will be well cared for.

Story
Meet Darcy & Molly: A Perfect Pair Looking for Their Forever Home Some bonds are unbreakable—just like the one between Darcy and Molly. These two lifelong companions lost their home when their beloved owner had to enter a nursing home, and now they’re looking for a new family to love them just as much as they love each other. They may be opposites in energy, but together, they’re the perfect balance. Darcy, a 10-year-old Great Pyrenees, is the wise and gentle protector, while Molly, a Border Collie mix of the same age, is the playful and spirited one. Their differences make them a truly special pair, and we’re committed to finding them a home where they can stay together—because that’s all they’ve ever known. Meet Darcy: The Gentle Guardian 🐾 ✨ Calm, affectionate, and dignified ✨ A true gentle giant who adores people (including children!) ✨ Housebroken, well-mannered, and cooperative for vet visits ✨ Enjoys leisurely strolls, lounging in the yard, and soaking up attention ✨ Has arthritis and some age related spinal issues but is still happy and mobile ✨ Good with small dogs, cats, and even chickens! Meet Molly: The Free-Spirited Sidekick 🎾 ✨ Lively, playful, and full of personality ✨ Loves zooming around the yard and playing with toys ✨ Draws comfort and confidence from Darcy’s calm presence ✨ Well-behaved but thrives with daily activity and mental stimulation ✨ Good with small dogs, cats, and chickens Their Ideal Home 🏡 Only dogs or small dog companions: They do best without large, high-energy dogs. 🐾 A family who understands Darcy’s grooming needs: Great Pyrenees require regular brushing to stay comfortable. 🚶 Daily walks and space to play: While Darcy enjoys a relaxed lifestyle, Molly still has bursts of energy and loves outdoor time. 💛 A loving home that will cherish them both: These two are inseparable, and their future family should embrace their unique dynamic. Health & Care ✔ Spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped ✔ Comprehensive senior wellness exams, including bloodwork ✔ Recently professionally groomed ✔ Happy and healthy, ready for their next adventure! 💌 Ready to Meet Them? We know adopting two big dogs—especially ones with different energy levels—isn’t for everyone. But for the right family, Darcy and Molly will be the most rewarding companions. If you think you’re the perfect match, email us at tysonsplacerescue@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application here: https://tysonsplacerescue.org/cat-and-dog-adoptions/#adopt 🐾 Could you be the happy ending Darcy & Molly are waiting for? 🐾

Meet Fox! Fox is a 1-year-old bundle of love and energy who’s always up for a good time. She’s happiest when she’s playing with her favorite toys or spending time outside exploring. With her playful personality and endless enthusiasm, Fox is the kind of dog who turns everyday moments into fun-filled adventures. Fox is a bright and curious girl who loves to learn. She already has "sit" mastered and is picking up other commands like "down" and "shake" quickly. She enjoys having something to focus on and thrives when she’s given a chance to use her brain. Walks are one of her favorite activities, though she’s a strong girl on leash and sometimes likes to play tug with it when she gets excited! Her curiosity and enthusiasm make every outing feel like an adventure. With her fun-loving nature and sharp mind, Fox is sure to bring joy, laughter, and fun to the lucky family who welcomes her home.   Personality: Playful, sweet, energetic Leash Manners: Enjoys walks, though strong on leash and may play tug when excited Favorite Activities: Loves playing with toys and being outside Training: Smart and eager to learn—knows “sit,” working on “down” and “shake   Volunteer Notes: “Very playful, polite, sweet & soft!” “”very fun girl, knows sit very well!” “So sweet, lots of energy and loves belly rubs!”   *Just a heads up, the way dogs behave here at the shelter might not be exactly how they act in a home environment.
