Meet Your New Adventure Partner: Wilson If you’re looking for a dog with a "job," a brilliant mind, and endless energy, look no further. This handsome Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix is the quintessential working dog, currently looking for a wide-open space to call his own. 🎾 The Basics Activity Level: Olympic Athlete. Whether it’s a high-speed game of fetch, a long hike, or zoomies in the yard, he is always ready to move. Social Life: He is a true gentleman with cats. When it comes to dogs, he is a "ladies' man" who thrives with female companions. He takes a bit longer to warm up to other males, but he’s a fast learner. The "Work" Ethic: True to his heritage, he has a strong drive to herd. While he occasionally tries to organize his canine friends, he responds beautifully to corrections and is currently be fostered with a trainer to polish his social skills and play style. 🏡 The Ideal Home Because of his breed’s protective instincts, he has previously struggled with guarding his home and has a bite history involving a stranger. He isn’t a "city dog" or a social butterfly for crowded parks. Instead, he needs: A Rural or Farm Setting: He flourishes when he has room to roam and a quiet environment. A Savvy Handler: Someone who understands herding breeds and can continue his training journey. A Secure Perimeter: A place where he can feel safe without the stress of constant foot traffic from strangers. 🎓 Current Training & Progress He is currently fostered with a professional trainer, working hard on his social etiquette. He is making great strides in learning how to play appropriately and look to his human for guidance. Ready to give this working boy the life he was bred for? If you have a farm, a love for the herding-dog spirit, and a quiet lifestyle, he might just be your perfect match. Wilson's adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. Story
Meet Lou! This guy is a three-year-old, 52-pound Australian Shepherd mix who`s a total catch! Lou was originally found as a stray and transferred to us from another shelter, so while we don’t know a lot about his history, we’re so excited to help him find his forever home.Lou is a super sweet, energetic, and smart boy. He absolutely loves to be petted and his favorite thing is wandering around outside while his people keep him company! He is already fully potty trained and knows quite a few commands! He`s happy to sit, lay down, shake, and stay! He also loves other pups, so he would do well with canine siblings.Lou is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. You can visit him at The Babinski Foundation Animal Shelter Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or Sundays from 12:00 to 5:00 PM.

Story
Meet Ranger: The Aussie Boss Ranger is an Aussie through and through—meaning he's smart, spirited, and loves to be in charge! This handsome boy is looking for an experienced partner who understands the drive and nuance of herding breeds like Australian Shepherds and Heelers. 🧠 Working Dog Traits & Energy Ranger has a very, very high movement drive and would absolutely thrive with a working job to do. He loves being outside and engaging his brilliant mind. If you're looking for a dog to train in agility, herding, or high-level obedience, Ranger is your man! When it's time to relax, he loves to settle in for some coveted belly rubs. House-trained & Crate-trained. Favorite Things: Balls and toys! He has great motivation for play. Aussie Charm: He can be whiny to let you know his feelings—a classic Aussie trait! 🏡 Home Life & Quirks Life with Ranger is never boring! He's a clever fellow who has figured out how to open a handle door, so locks may be needed! When he's ready for a meal, he'll give you a polite reminder by going to his bowls. He hasn't met children in his home environment yet, but he is fascinated by them and loves to watch kids play from a distance. 🤝 Social Skills & Ideal Handler Ranger is a strong leader who requires a confident, clear-headed handler. Dog Interactions: He is leash reactive and will need consistent, positive training to manage this. However, when introduced correctly, he can play well with other dogs. The Perfect Match: Ranger absolutely needs an owner with Australian Shepherd or Heeler experience. Someone who understands herding dog drive, boundaries, and energy needs is essential for his success and happiness. Ready to give this smart, driven, and loving Aussie a job and a home? Ranger's adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. Story
Meet Boe 💙🐾 Boe is a blue heeler/cattle dog mix with all the classic traits you’d expect loyal, smart, and full of personality. He forms strong bonds with his people and enjoys being part of the action, while still being confident enough to do his own thing. He is potty trained and crate trained, making him an easy addition to a home routine. He does well with other dogs but tends to be more independent, often preferring to hang back rather than constantly engage. Boe is good with kids and would do well in a family environment. He loves to play and would enjoy a home that can keep him mentally and physically engaged. Like many heelers, he has natural herding instincts and may try to “herd” smaller animals, so a home without cats or small animals would be the best fit. The basics: • Potty trained • Crate trained • Good with kids • Dog friendly (independent play style) • Active, smart, and loyal Boe would thrive in a home that understands and appreciates the cattle dog personality intelligent, devoted, and always ready for the next thing. 🐾 Boe's adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are.
