You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   If you are interested in a medium to high energy, food and play motivated, loving, smart, goofy pup, look no further than Lucy!  This 6 month old mini Aussie (best guess) is a delight and will bring joy and laughter into your home.  She is currently being fostered on a sheep farm and enjoys watching, and sometimes trying to herd, the sheep.  Lucy loves to play with her people and her favorite resident dog, 10 year old Dan.  She will need lots of physical exercise and mental stimulation, several times a day.  She and Dan run zoomies in the backyard and never seem to get enough.  She is great on a leash, so walks will be fun.  Lucy really enjoys her toys, whether her people are playing fetch or tug, or she is simply playing with them on her own.  She is great about focusing on toys and is not destructive.  Lucy likes puzzle toys, although is able to solve them quickly.  The most recent toy, a two-tier puzzle, said it would take the dog several tries to master it and to start with just one tier.  Lucy had both tiers solved in under a minute.  No challenge at all.  This pup also loves to jump!  Over logs, furniture, other dogs, she will fly over anything.  With her intelligence and athleticism, she would make a super agility or fly ball dog.  Lucy also has a nice off switch, being able to hang out quietly with a toy or cuddle up for a nap.  She sleeps through the night with no disruptions.  Lucy loves adventures and people.   She has made friends with people at the local feed store and farm store, prancing in like she owns the world.  Visitors to the farm are greeted with much enthusiasm.  Lucy rides nicely in the truck, so road trips are a definite possibility for this little one. She is kennel trained, but it is not her favorite pastime.  Lucy would really like her own pack of older, considerate kids, eight and up, and a companion dog.   Because of her natural herding instinct, she may try to herd and nip at very small children.  She is housebroken, and a quick learner.  Lucy has fairly good recall, although may need coaxing to come inside if she feels she still has go power.  Lucy has not been cat tested, but given the way she accepts correction from the other dogs, she will probably be polite to a cat who gives her a good swat on the nose. Lucy’s words:  joy, happiness, intelligent, energetic, sweet, cuddly, silly, goofy, obedient, funny, PERFECT! Lucy is being fostered in the Kansas City area.Click here to watch a video of Lucy (2024).Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 13, 2025, 10:05 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Bug is an approximately 8 month old border collie.  She is so well behaved it's easy to forget she's still a puppy!   (But she does remind us every once in a while when we catch her with a shoe or glove or other clothing item.)  She's housebroken and leash trained, knows sit and is currently working on some additional commands.  Her crate training is also still a work in progress but she does stay quiet most of the night now and will go in willingly for a treat most of the time.  Bug loves to play with toys and also enjoys games of chase, tag and tug with her foster siblings.  She was named by her previous owner and I think it must be short for "Snugglebug" because she is the best cuddling and napping buddy!  Bug is what's called a double merle (offspring of 2 merles bred together).  This often results in deafness and or blindness but luckily she missed that genetic result.  Due to her very light colored eyes, and low pigment she may be sensitive to being out in the sun for long periods but otherwise is a happy healthy young girl!  Bug will need a fenced yard to keep her safe and would enjoy a playful canine sibling. Bug is being fostered in the Springfield, MO area.Click here to watch a video of Bug.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 16, 2025, 10:18 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   When this striking young man was rescued by MoKan, one name immediately seemed to fit – Redford – because he is so handsome! His long, soft coat is a beautiful mixture of red, brown & black, with patches of white on his head, face & neck, along with his white sock feet. His unique brindle markings continue on his long, full tail that he happily wags frequently. Redford came into MoKan as an unwanted stray, and those of us who have been in his presence simply cannot understand why. The sweetest personality accompanies Redford’s dashing looks, and he is all about pleasing his person. He has learned ‘sit’ and ‘down’ and is very mindful when his foster mom gives him direction. There is no doubt Redford would respond well to any type of training, and he is a big fan of rewards. Although he is not very fond of his crate yet, with a few words of encouragement over time he stops whining and settles in. So far, there have been no accidents inside the house, and he is given numerous opportunities for bio breaks throughout the day and frequent yard time. He is learning to walk on a leash and seems to enjoy exploring, but right now we do a lot of zig zagging along the way. Redford plays very nicely with his two foster dog siblings who are both smaller in size, and he would likely love to have a furry sibling. Although he has not exhibited any prey drive, per se, Redford does seem easily annoyed by the presence of his foster kitty cat siblings, so he might do best in a home without cats or small critters. Redford is a 50 pound extremely loving two year-old with a lot of puppy playfulness but not the destructive behaviors that sometime accompany a puppy. He is very content to play with toys, balls, and gnaw on teething bones. He puts a paw on each shoulder and gives hugs to his foster mom, and he is always thrilled to receive a belly rub. He thinks brushing his hair is a game, with the winner being the one who captures the brush…but we’ll keep working on that. Given that Redford has only recently discovered what it’s like to be in a loving home, it would probably be best if he is not left alone for extended periods of time. Redford is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and receives monthly preventatives. He is being fostered in the St. Louis, MO area. This good-looking fella is ready to find his happily forever with a family of his own. Could that be you? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Delta is a super fun, energetic young girl looking to be someone's sidekick or even sport dog! She is happy, bubbly, playful, fun-loving, and generally an easy dog in the house. Delta gets along great with all the dogs she has met, and currently lives in a large group of dogs......she is respectful of the grumpy old buddies, but also more than willing to engage in wrestle time with the youngsters. Another playful canine friend is recommended, as she does truly enjoy the company of other dogs. Delta is very friendly and outgoing, confident in new places and situations. She rides well in the car, either crated or loose. She does really enjoy toys! And is showing a natural fetch, as well as some tug drive. In the right hands, she could certainly become a sport dog and excel in frisbee, agility, flyball, and similar games. Delta is crate trained, and is mostly quiet when crated, although she definitely can get a case of FOMO when she hears other dogs having fun! She is housetrained, knows sit and really enjoys training time. She is truly a clean slate that could go any direction, as an active family pet, adventure buddy, or sport prospect. Delta is being fostered in the St. Louis, MO area.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 11, 2025, 9:07 am

Chips is a charismatic 6 month old border collie with a bright future. He is a wonderful little gentleman who loves a party and can’t wait to fill your life with adventures. Chips is incredibly intelligent and eager to please. He is crate and house trained and picked up sit, down, and station within just a few sessions. He is currently working on loose leash walking. He is incredibly attentive and is both food and toy motivated. He has tug drive and is a sport prospect. He is excelling in beginning disc skills but his skills could transfer to many different areas (fly ball, agility, etc.) While he is easy going, he does need someone who recognizes his potential and will continue to work with him as he becomes an amazing companion. Training is a must as he will amuse himself if not given an appropriate outlet. He settles well when asked to do so which is part of his training that he has picked up quickly. This is truly a special guy looking for a home who wants to see him succeed in being his very best. Up to date on vaccines and neutered.
