Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.(Sending an "Inquiry" via Petfinder does not constitute an application.)   When this striking young man was rescued by MoKan, one name immediately seemed to fit – Redford – because he is so handsome! His long, soft coat is a beautiful mixture of red, brown & black, with patches of white on his head, face & neck, along with his white sock feet. His unique brindle markings continue on his long, full tail that he happily wags frequently. Redford came into MoKan as an unwanted stray, and those of us who have been in his presence simply cannot understand why. The sweetest personality accompanies Redford’s dashing looks, and he is all about pleasing his person. He has learned ‘sit’ and ‘down’ and is very mindful when his foster mom gives him direction. There is no doubt Redford would respond well to any type of training, and he is a big fan of rewards. Although he is not very fond of his crate yet, with a few words of encouragement over time he stops whining and settles in. So far, there have been no accidents inside the house, and he is given numerous opportunities for bio breaks throughout the day and frequent yard time. He is learning to walk on a leash and seems to enjoy exploring, but right now we do a lot of zig zagging along the way. Redford plays very nicely with his two foster dog siblings who are both smaller in size, and he would likely love to have a furry sibling. Although he has not exhibited any prey drive, per se, Redford does seem easily annoyed by the presence of his foster kitty cat siblings, so he might do best in a home without cats or small critters. Redford is a 50 pound extremely loving two year-old with a lot of puppy playfulness but not the destructive behaviors that sometime accompany a puppy. He is very content to play with toys, balls, and gnaw on teething bones. He puts a paw on each shoulder and gives hugs to his foster mom, and he is always thrilled to receive a belly rub. He thinks brushing his hair is a game, with the winner being the one who captures the brush…but we’ll keep working on that. Given that Redford has only recently discovered what it’s like to be in a loving home, it would probably be best if he is not left alone for extended periods of time. Redford is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and receives monthly preventatives. He is being fostered in the St. Louis, MO area. This good-looking fella is ready to find his happily forever with a family of his own. Could that be you? Maybe? Spanky and his gang had a dog named Pete or Petey, he was their constant companion. Meet the updated version of Petey. This compact black and white bundle of joy, wakes up happy smiling and wagging his tail every morning. Petey is a people person - he loves being with his people. He is well behaved and a good listener. Petey has a "people pleaser" personality, making him submissive and sensitive to correction because he doesn't want to disappoint anyone. Petey is cautious around new people but once he knows you are a safe person, he quickly becomes your best friend. Petey loves going everywhere you go - running errands no problem he will wait in the car patiently. Petey is well behaved in the car or in public. Petey loves playing with his foster siblings, playing with toys, running a lap or two around the yard and (of course) being all cute and cuddly on the couch. He loves going for walks and meeting new people. Petey sits perfectly by your side or will lay down and wait. He is crate trained, housebroken, leash trained, "sits" on command and gives a paw for a "shake". Petey is learning "lay down" and "wait". Petey is a neutered 29 month old male, fully vetted, heartworm negative and on prevention. If you are looking for a cute and cuddly companion Petey is your guy. He will never let you down and will give you unconditional love for a lifetime. At 10 weeks old, she's already showing off her confidence and playfulness everywhere she goes - chasing friends around the back yard and playing games like tug of war. After the day is done, she wants nothing more than to snuggle down on the couch with her people & pet friends. Sansa currently lives with two Aussies and would thrive in a home with another dog (or dogs!). She's been learning great socialization queues from her foster brothers and is rapidly learning what polite dog-dog play looks like. She's been eager to interact with new human and dog friends, enjoys trips to the hardware store, and has successfully met plenty of tiny humans of all ages. Due to her baby teeth and sharp claws, we recommend she go to a home with older children. Sansa is working on potty training and is getting better and better each day. She knows sit, lay down, and is working on 'stay' and 'come'. She sleeps in a crate at night and is able to wind down in a crate during the day for puppy naps. She loves a good snuggle and will gladly take a nap in your arms/lap if you let her. Sansas is being fostered in the Kansas City area.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 5, 2025, 2:29 pm

She is a beautiful black and white smooth coat, at 24 lbs. Xena is very much a puppy, with an enthusiasm for life, and adventures outside the shelter! She is a little shy meeting new people, using her “army crawl” for reassurance. She is gaining more confidence daily, as she settles into her routine. She is already kennel trained, running for her meals there, as soon as the food comes out. She mastered the doggy door right away and is house trained. Xena LOVES to play with other dogs in the yard in her foster home. She loves playing fetch, and her treats! Being food motivated, she is a blank slate, very trainable. She will do best with a dog companion her size or bigger, to give her the corrections she needs as a puppy. She would be best in a home without cats. She would love a fenced yard where she can run and play with dog friends and humans. Xena LOVES people! She is working on calming her exuberance when foster mom comes home. As stated, she loves treats and working on sitting nicely and not jumping. She has the herding dog trait of nipping at your pants as you walk away from her. Because of this, she would be best suited for older children. She does love all children she has met, and wants to be close and always happy to cuddle. She has not met toddlers or babies.  She’s always happy to snuggle for a good movie or a nap. Xena is an active, sweet, cuddly, puppy with moderate energy, so will need daily exercise, and brain stimulation. She does love her treats and learning sessions, it will be easy to continue the training she needs. Xena is ready for adoption and an active family! Complete an adoption application if she sounds like the perfect girl for you. She is spayed, UTD on all vaccines, and preventatives, Xena is being fostered in the Kansas City area.Click here to watch a video of Xena.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 3, 2025, 2:54 pm
