And DNA shows she is 100% border collie!!  She wants nothing more in life than to play frisbee, fetch, and spend time romping and wresting with her dog buddies. Willow has a high energy level, a medium herding drive, and is eager to please. She is treat and praise motivated and knows basic commands. She is potty trained and crate trained. Her ideal home would have a 5 foot fence, a playful housemate and a soft couch. She adores children and strangers. Willow would do well as a running companion and is a natural at agility and obedience. She is ready for adventure and is always eager to learn. Willow was born April 2022 in a rural setting and was penned without much human interaction for her first 6 months of life. In October 2022, she was purchased and this owner, their partner and their resident Border Collies changed her from a terrified, constantly hiding puppy to a well socialized outgoing adult. Willow came into MO-Kan’s care March 2023 and is happily living with playful canine housemates including elderly dog and a puppy.   Read about Smooth Coat Border Collies>>>  Willow is being fostered in the Kansas City, MO area. Click here to watch a video of Willow (2023).Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 16, 2024, 4:55 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Meet Suzi, a charming 2-year-old black and white Border Collie mix, weighing around 40 lbs. She's a true people lover, always ready for affection and cuddles. Suzi enjoys a variety of things and activities such as playing tug, soft squeaky toys, going on walks, frozen peanut butter filled kongs, hard chews, licky mats, snuffle mats, dog puzzles, soft foam dog beds (and maybe a fuzzy one for her head), belly rubs, and giving kisses. She's potty trained and is gradually warming up to her kennel, though she'd rather be by your side. Suzi has a bit of a prey drive, so she's not suited for homes with small animals. She's selective with other dogs, making her a good fit as an only dog or with a submissive dog companion. She's actively learning commands and tricks (sit, lie down, come, wait, here, get it, give it, leave it, place, here, spin, twirl, touch, hide, roll over, crawl and catch) and is eager to please for treats or toys. Suzi is intelligent, inquisitive, and knows when to relax. If you're seeking a Border Collie's intelligence, beauty, and loyalty without the high energy, Suzi is your ideal match. She requires a fenced yard and someone knowledgeable about her breed. She's spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Suzi is currently in foster care in Manhattan, KS.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 16, 2024, 4:55 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Hi, I am an 30# boy living with my brother in Oklahoma.  My mom was a Border Collie and we were told my dad was a Great Pyrenees.  I came into foster care at about 8 weeks old, and lucky I did because as soon as my foster mom picked me and my brother up we started feeling sick and were diagnosed with Parvo virus.  We got to the vet right away and our friends at MOKAN made sure we had the best care!  I am now fully recovered and ready to meet my forever family.  My favorite thing in the whole world, is eating breakfast, or dinner, or working for snacks, but I also love to play and wrestle with my bother Ford.  I love toys and will entertain myself with games of shake and fetch.  I am a pretty independent guy, so will need to be in a home that has plenty of time for training me to be the best boy I can be.  Don’t worry, I am VERY food motivated, love to learn, and I love people! My foster mom says I am a smarty pants, and would love to continue my training. She said something about a puppy “class” whatever that is?? I am crate and house trained.  I am good with other dogs and respectful of cats.  I am up to date on vaccines and have been on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Can’t wait to meet you! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Milo, is a gorgeous black and white, 9 month old boy, that came into rescue after he was found abandoned in a barn.  He missed early socialization, so was hesitant around people and new situations.  Milo has since learned that people are pretty cool, especially when they have treats! He is slow to warm up, but once he trusts you, you are friends for life.   One of his favorite things is to go for a truck ride to the feed store, where he flirts with all the ladies. It has taken him several months, but he will finally roll over for a good belly scratch.  Milo does love to cuddle with his foster parents, and curl up for a good movie. He isn’t very comfortable around children, would be best in a home with children over 12. He needs proper introductions to other dogs, best done on neutral ground. He would enjoy having another dog as a buddy, or solo to have his humans to himself. Milo doesn’t play with toys, ignores balls, frisbees, other game toys.  He does like to chew on Kongs, especially if they are stuffed with peanut butter, and will collect all of the Kongs in the house, keeping them in a nice pile.  He will also collect, but not chew, piles of shoes if he feels he is not getting enough attention.   Milo is high energy boy, and will need  stimulating exercise for his brain and body to keep him happy, and build his confidence. At his foster home, he loves his walks along the lake where he can sniff, explore, and jump in the water! He loves to run, chase, and play with his foster siblings.  He would make a good agility dog, having learned the jump in under five minutes, picked up sitting on the table, and tried the tunnel, but was continually interrupted by one of the other dogs. Milo is one smart boy, and loves to use his brain. He has the potential for obedience, trick training, trail hikes, any fun activity with his people. Milo has been raised near chickens and sheep.  He has not offered to chase them, instead watching them as he is walked through the barnyard (on leash).  Once he is bored with watching, he returns to his barnyard exploration.  He has not been cat tested.   This pup must have someone who is familiar with the breed and patient enough to help him continue to develop the confidence he needs.  Milo is house trained and crate trained.  His leash manners still need work.  Recall is great as long as there isn’t something exciting that distracts him.  Milo will need on-going obedience work.  He is protective of his food bowl and will growl and bark at other dogs, so is best with private dining. If you want a smart, energetic, silly, cute, cuddly, loving pup, look no further than Milo the Wonder Pup.   Milo is being fostered in the Holden, MO area.Click here to watch a video of Milo (2023).Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 16, 2024, 4:55 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Flash is an approximately 12-18 month old male who found himself an unclaimed stray in an Oklahoma shelter.  He’s a happy boy who loves everyone. His favorite things to do are play with his foster brothers and invade your personal space!  Flash will play with other dogs all day long if you let him but he also enjoys a good toy or cuddle as well. Flash also really wants the kitties to play too and can be a pest to them but does not try to hurt them. He would be ok with dog savvy and patient cats.  Flash is housebroken and crate trained but he does sometimes fuss a few minutes in his crate before settling and will let you know when it’s time to get up in the morning.  He rides well crated in the car. Flash enjoys the large fenced yard at his foster home and would do best in a home with a fenced yard to keep him safe and properly exercised.  He has a medium to high energy level.  Flash has not had much formal training before coming into rescue.  He is making a lot of progress on leash walking and his foster home is starting to work with him on learning basic commands.  Flash is a blank slate and still needs to “learn to learn” but once he does we will be better able to evaluate what kind of activities he may be suited for.  However, he would definitely make a great active pet and adventure companion! Flash would absolutely want a playmate in his forever home or a family who can plan plenty of play dates for him! Flash is a big, tall boy weighing in about 50 lbs but is working towards 45.  Flash needs a home that is committed to working on some basic manners and obedience skills so that he can continue his path to being the best boy in town! Flash is being fostered in the Springfield, MO area.Click here to watch a video of Flash.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 16, 2024, 4:55 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Sweet little Flower (and we do mean little!) came to Mo-Kan as a stray in a Kansas shelter. The shelter noise and unknown surroundings had her very shut down and afraid, but life in foster care has slowly taught her that humans can be trusted. And now, well this little Flower has absolutely blossomed!  Flower (aka Half Pint, aka Flower Power) sleeps soundly in her crate, is housebroken, loves wrestling with her foster siblings, and is beginning to understand how fun toys are! And car rides! She is approximately 25lbs and is very small in stature compared to other collies, despite being full grown. Flower will require a fully fenced and secure yard to keep her safe, as she will be considered a flight risk until she has settled in with her permanent family. Her ideal family will also have a playful furry companion for her to bond with, to show her the ropes of how to 'dog' and to more quickly bring her out of her shell. She is particularly fond of playing tug with her foster sibling, and stealing their toys.  Flower's family must understand that it may take some time for her to acclimate to her new surroundings, and they must be willing to continue to socialize her with new people, places, and furry friends. Patience will be absolutely key, and she will likely warm up to women far more quickly than men.  Flower is approximately 2 years old, is spayed and up to date on her shots. Flower is being fostered in the Bentonville, AR area.Click here to watch a video of Flower.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 16, 2024, 4:55 pm
