Please refer to the contact info in the bio. 6 month old Ivy is adorable, silly, affectionate, playful, smart and seemingly always hungry! She has the fluffiest chocolate-colored ears to go with her classic border collie markings. She is currently 34# and will probably be 40-45ish when fully grown. Ivy was initially found wandering a neighborhood alone for over 2 weeks, so we know this girl can take care of herself! Ivy loves people, including kids, though may be a little fearful at first if wearing hats or hoodies. She hasn’t seen any cats to our knowledge, but enjoys playing with, chasing, and being chased by other dogs. She plays tug of war with her foster brother, and recently started a game with him to see who can jump furthest over the couch. She loves playing in sprinklers, though doesn’t seem to have interest in swimming (yet). She takes her squirrel monitor job very seriously. She loses all self-control when a squirrel enters her yard and becomes instantly deaf to all commands. For this reason, and because she loves to run and run, we are requiring a home with a fence for Miss Ivy. She does enjoy walks (currently has worked up to about 4-5 miles per day) but at this time cannot be trusted off lead (squirrel). She’s great in the car and at the vet. Did we mention she’s smart? She knows sit, “touch”, down (enthusiastically flops her entire body on the floor with all she’s got), kennel up, and is working on various other commands. She does still jump up for attention but quickly sits when reminded. She knows to sit and wait to be invited when a door is open, though does still try to sneak through sometimes. Ivy will need a family who enjoys training (only positive reinforcement methods, of course), because she loves it, but also will come up with her own activities if not physically and mentally exercised. (One table leg can vouch for that). She would prefer another playful dog in her forever home but may be OK as an only if she gets proper and frequent interaction with her humans. Ivy sleeps in her crate at night, which doesn’t stop her from first sneaking into the bed and lying very still, hoping she won’t be noticed. She feigns sleep, thinking we’ll give in. She is solidly crate trained, eats her meals there and is crated when alone in the house. (She is only used to being alone for a few hours at a time). She is house trained as long as she’s taken outside every couple of hours during the day (but doesn’t soil her kennel when crated). Ivy is really the whole package. Like any puppy, she will thrive with continued training and exercise. She is up to date on her vaccinations and monthly preventatives, will be spayed and microchipped soon, and would be ready to go to her forever home early to mid Oct. We are accepting applications now and expect many good families to apply for her. As mentioned, we will require a fence in her case, and that all pets in the home are currently up to date on their vetting. Ivy is being fostered in the Kansas City, Missouri area.Click here to watch a video of Ivy (2023).Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 21, 2023, 12:31 pm
