Meet Oreo girly she’s about 1.5 years old. She is very affectionate, loves to be cuddled and go for long walks. She’s also a chewer! Loves to chew and sniff. She needs to be in a home that can give her full attention and keep up with her high energy. We have a very busy schedule with our 4 kiddos and have not been able to keep up with the attention she deserves to be able to thrive. She still needs a lot of training to be a good girl. She is potty trained and will let you know when she needs to use the potty.

Story
Gail is a smart and eager to please beagle mix who is blossoming into a truly wonderful dog. Gail was severely under socialized during her first months of life and had no understanding of how to exist with people. While in rescue she has learned all about how to be a part of a home, and now her foster mom is helping her to learn how to exist stress free outside of the house so that she can enjoy going on adventures with her future forever family. She is potty trained (with the rare exception of excited peeing), kennel trained and walks well on a leash when hiking on local trails.  Her ideal forever family will be an adult only home that has at least one other dog that likes to play. She is open to kids in her family’s future but would like to get to know her parents first. She is looking for a home with a fully fenced yard. Gail is not great at first introductions so we would like to find an adopter who is open to meeting her a couple of times before diving into forever with Gail. We promise she is worth the time investment.  Gail is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated.  Gail is a year old and 35lbs.   To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.December 14, 2024, 4:02 pm

Story
Say hello to Matilda, or Tilly—a currently 10-week-old, 6 lb Border Collie/Terrier mix (best guess) with a whole lot of personality packed into one tiny, adorable pup! This little lady is as bold as she is lovable, with a feisty spirit and a heart full of curiosity. Matilda is always up for an adventure, whether it’s exploring the backyard jungle or trotting after you to see what you’re up to. She plays hard (zoomies included!) and snuggles even harder. When she’s not busy being the life of the party, she’s the perfect cuddle companion. She’s also a smart cookie! Matilda is already well on her way to being fully potty trained, picking things up fast and eager to please. She’s got just the right mix of sass and sweetness to keep you laughing and loving every minute. If you’re looking for a spunky sidekick with a whole lot of heart, Matilda is your girl. Apply for Tilly today…you’ll fall in love instantly. Her adoption donation is $425. She will be spayed at one of our vets when age appropriate, is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and ready to meet you! Please apply directly on our website in the drop down menu at:  https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! April 19, 2025, 3:08 am

Story
Zoey is a 4-month-old pup with a heart as soft as her floppy ears. We think she will stay on the small side of medium sized once she is full grown. Zoey might be a little shy when meeting new people, but give her a little time (and maybe a tasty treat), and she’ll melt right into your lap. Once she warms up, her affectionate and gentle nature shines bright! She’s as social as can be when it comes to other dogs. Big or small, she’s ready to romp, wrestle, or just hang out. Zoey is both house trained and kennel trained, and she’s a quiet little lady when crated, perfect for anyone who appreciates peace and cuddles in equal measure. She’s fully vaccinated (Rabies, DAPP, and Bordetella), microchipped, spayed, healthy, and ready for her next big adventure. If you're looking for a sweet, loyal companion who just needs a little time to show her sparkle, Zoey might be your perfect match! Story
Zelda  Blue Heeler mix Spayed female 2 years old, 35 pounds   Princess Zelda is searching for a kingdom that feels like home -- one where her playful, carefree spirit can shine as brilliantly as her sleek, black coat.   We trust the right person will find her at just the right time. And when that moment comes, her magic will be fully unleashed to flourish.   Her current living arrangement includes a canine sister, who has been pleading her case to be an only dog. So, the owners made the difficult yet logical decision to separate the dogs while seeking to rehome Zelda.   Zelda’s temperament reinforces that “dream dog” sentiment: she’s naturally friendly, and we’ve seen her get along with dogs of all sizes, cats and children.   She’s also kennel trained (4-5 hours max), leash trained, house trained and understands several commands.  Zelda enjoys burning off that young adult energy with her human or a four-legged playmate in the backyard, so we're hoping to find her a home with a  secure, six-foot fence.   She’s microchipped, healthy, current on vaccines, simple to groom and even easier to love. If  Zelda's personality has enchanted you, please complete and submit our online adoption application.   Adoption form available a: nebraskanokill.org Suggested adoption donation: $300.00   April 17, 2025, 12:40 pm

Story
Jack Blue Heeler mix Neutered Male 5 years old, 50 pounds Sometimes, when we transfer dogs from crowded shelters, we roll the dice, but Jack has been a dream to foster. Jack’s foster mom tells us that he is very sweet, loving and friendly. He loves to ride in the car and Jack puts the joy in walking when they go twice per day. Recently his fosters brought in a Yorkshire terrier and they had so much fun together… no problems whatsoever adapting to one another. Also, they decided to try taking Jack to the dog park and reported that he enjoyed running with the other dogs there. Jack is roughly five years old and 50 pounds. He’s neutered, current on his vaccines and microchipped. The shelter listed him as a blue heeler mix, so his breed would be happiest in a home with activity. He is house trained, leash trained and crate trained. Jack also knows sit, shake and come, as just a few of his commands. So, it’s safe to say, Jack is ready if you are! Since he’s been such a love and we fell short on our goal to have him posted before Valentine’s Day, we’re offering a $50 discount on his adoption fee (normally $300.00)  for any applications received before the end of February. Please apply online at www.NebraskaNoKill.org.  February 22, 2025, 9:27 am
