Story
It breaks our hearts to say this, but we’re searching for a new home for our sweet boy, Panda. Panda is an incredibly loving, energetic dog with a huge heart. He’s smart, eager to please, and quickly learns new things—he already knows commands like “lay down” and “shake.” He truly thrives on connection and attention from his people. He absolutely lights up during playtime, especially with his favorite skunk toy or any ball. Watching him run and play brings so much joy—he has a special way of brightening a home. This has been a very difficult decision, made out of love and a desire to do what’s best for him. We are also expecting, and won't have the proper time to train a young pup and raise a baby. Panda would do best as the only male dog in a home where he can receive all the time, attention, and affection he deserves. We’re hoping to find a person or family who will love him as much as we do. Please reach out if you think you could be the right home for Panda ❤️

Story
Hey all, this is Archer. He is a 3 year old purebread Border Collie, great with our kids and other dog. We also have a Cat, and while Archer has never been aggressive of any kind, he has a strong herding instinct and will follow the cat around the house. We're looking to find him a new home for a few reasons, primarily we want our cat to be able to relax in the house more and not be followed so much, but we also want Archer to have a more active lifestyle. Ideally we could find him a home that has some wide outdoor space so he could run and play, and if he was given a job to do he would love it. We want to find Archer a great home with a more active lifestyle for him, so if you have any questions please let us know.

Story
Lucy is a 3-year-old Border Collie mix with a sensitive personality, incredible intelligence, and a very affectionate side. She loves snuggling in bed, playing games like hide-and-seek, and being involved in whatever her humans are doing. She loves walks, playing, and chasing balls. She is highly intelligent and energetic, so she thrives with mental stimulation, exercise, and structure. Lucy would do best with an experienced dog owner familiar with herding breeds and their sensitivities.Because of her herding instincts and sensitivity, Lucy is not a fit for homes with toddlers or infants. She does best in a calm environment with older children (if any) who can respect her space. She can also be protective around food and prefers not to be disturbed by children while resting.Lucy has never bitten or lunged at a child. We simply recognize that our growing family and busy toddler environment are no longer the right fit for her needs, and we want to find a home where she can truly thrive.

In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.  Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster.  This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their  pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is  unavailable for adoption.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster  to see if you and the pet are a good match. Winston - Deaf Dogs Hear with Their Hearts Hello world I'm Winston....please don't mind me as I practice my sign language! You see, I'm hearing impaired, but I am super smart so I use hand signs to communicate! I have been waiting a while for my perfect home, but I will be a great companion once I find the right match. I will need SEVERAL MEETS before adoption, as I am people selective and it takes me a bit to get to know and trust someone. I'm a two year old who is a happy, handsome fella with gorgeous baby blues and would love to be someone's one and only. Once I trust them, I'd love for them to take me on walks/runs, play fetch, toss me toys, snuggle with me and teach me new commands! I do have a few requirements, though: I NEED A FENCED IN YARD, AN EXPERIENCED OWNER AND MUST BE AN ONLY DOG. So, if you have enough time, patience, dogs skills and can go slow with me, I will learn to trust you and be your loyal forever boy. No apartments please! Also, small children make me really nervous as I can't hear them so teenagers and adults only. I also prefer a house that won't be active with too many strangers coming and going but am crate trained, if needed. I currently living with a trainer and she loves me so much that she will provide continued training help for my whole life! I haven't had many good experiences in my life yet, so I'd love to be your loyal best new friend, if you have time to devote to me! Want to meet me and see how amazing we can be together? Please apply at www.nalarescue.org to adopt or for more information. All shots, boosters, rabies, spay/neuter, and microchip is included in NALA Rescue's Adoption donation fee. All meets are scheduled by appointment only once an application is approved. Please apply at www.nalarescue.org and if approved we will reach out to the applicant and answer all questions. All dogs/puppies are available until they are removed from this site so please no inquires if a dog is available.

Story
Kevin is a Lab/Border Collie mix, born in 2021.  The perfect home for Kevin would be with someone who can give him daily exercise and stiumlation.  He needs a fenced yard with room to explore and lounge.  Kevin is a very smart dog and enjoys being challenged with different activities.  He is okay with kids, he would be better off in a home with no young kids (age 6+ would be okay).  Other dogs might be okay, but the first introduction would need to be slow. Kevin is very well house trained.  He participated in a two-week obedience stay and learned a lot!  He knows how to sit, lay down, place and stay (depending on the situation).  Kevin tends to bark sometimes - specifically more protective if someone comes to the door or is outside the house.  He will also bark if he sees something in the back yard and wants to go out.  Kevin has been a little reactive to men, but should warm up if he gets to know someone. Kevin LOVES to be active - he would run and play all day long if given the opportunity.  He would love the chance to become part of your family.  He's such a friendly and sweet guy!   The suggested adoption donation for Kevin is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information.Parker is a sweetheart of a Heeler mix (possibly with a little brindle Boxer mixed in) who is ready to find his forever family. At 7½ years old, he's the perfect blend of playful and wise—old enough to have wonderful manners and maturity, but with plenty of energy, love, and adventures still ahead of him. This handsome guy is incredibly social, affectionate, and people-oriented. Parker absolutely loves attention and is famous for leaning against his favorite humans for extra pets and cuddles. He enjoys walks, loves being part of the action, and has never met a stranger for long. Parker is a star at doggy daycare playgroups, where both dogs and humans adore him. He greets the staff every day with enthusiastic tail wags and kisses, and somehow seems to remember every friend he's ever made. Volunteers, daycare staff, and visitors are all treated to Parker's signature happy welcome whenever he sees them again. When he's not making friends, Parker enjoys all the simple pleasures in life: walks, car rides, playing ball, and curling up on the couch for snuggles with his people. Fetch is one of his favorite games, and he's a gentleman about it—he'll happily bring the ball back and gently place it in your hand or at your feet, ready for the next throw. He's also wonderfully well-behaved on outings, making him an easy companion for adventures around town. Because Parker thrives on companionship, he'd do best in a home where his people aren't gone for long stretches of time. He isn't a fan of being crated or spending too much time alone, and he'd love a family with someone who works from home or has a schedule that allows for plenty of together time. Like many of our dogs, Parker has some prey drive and can get a little mouthy when he's excited, so he'd be happiest in a home without cats or young children. At 84 pounds, he's certainly a big boy—but that just means there's more of him to love! If you're looking for a best friend who will treat you like you're the most important person in the world every single day, Parker may be your perfect match. Parker's adoption fee is $225, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (treated if positive), and microchipped. Little Miss Squirrel is an adorable three-year-old Cattle Dog mix with thoughtful intelligence. When she smiles, it’s like the sun is coming out. Squirrel would love to live with an individual or a couple for whom she can provide nighttime cuddles and daytime window security services. She has completed several Dog Training classes and one of her favorite games is 15-minute “Training” to learn anything new from Agility commands to Tricks which she learns quickly. Squirrel loves to snuggle, play her Brain Games, and snooze next to her people while they work. Although she is young, Squirrel is very calm and somewhat low energy. She loves car rides and long walks. She is great at the vet’s office, grooming, and nail trims. Squirrel’s Cattle Dog genes show in her willingness to enforce compliance with household rules. Although it is endearing to many humans, few dogs find it a compatible lifestyle, and small children may not want her as a governess. Neighborhood cats have thought it fun to walk the top of the fence and torment her, so her cat friendliness is uncertain at this time. Squirrel's adoption fee is $275, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped.
