Story
Wednesday is a three year old Australian Cattle Dog/Great Pyrenees mix. I adopted her from The Capital Humane Society about two years ago. I got her and another female dog who is around the same age at the same time. I did not know that two female dogs are more prone to fighting with one another, especially if they are around the same age. Lesson learned! Wednesday would do best in a home with a yard or land. She takes her watch duties seriously and loves to chase pesky squirrels. She is reactive to other dogs and barks at other neighbor dogs through the fence and at other dogs on walks. However, she has safely been to doggie daycare numerous times and does well in dog groups when she is not at home and not with me. She would love to be the only dog, but may do well with another male. She does not like rambunctious kids or cats due to their quick movements. Teens would be fine. She is very calm indoors and mostly a couch potato! She knows basic commands like sit, down, wait.

Story
Brenda is the middle-aged, slightly overweight lady who will gossip all day with you! She is quite chatty, funny, and very loyal. She has great house manners being housetrained and fully trusted not to be crated. She walks great on a leash while wearing a harness. Brenda absolutely LOVES kids & adults, but can be alpha with dogs smaller than her. She does better with dogs her size or larger, or would also do great as an only pet. She lives harmoniously in her foster home with a 40 lb dog and a cat. Brenda is VERY smart and already knows commands of sit, lay down, shake, kennel up, and rollover. We think she knows many more and are just learning what she knows. She does not seem startled by loud noises or groups of people. We would love for her to have a home with a fenced yard so she can romp & sniff all the smells, but a fence is not required. This girl has a fantastic personality and would love to be the center of your world! Brenda is a female Cattle Dog/Beagle mix who was born approximately 1-30-17 and weighs 42 lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested negative for heartworms & started on heartworm preventative. Adoption fee is $150 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. If interested in adopting one of our available dogs or puppies, you must first complete an online adoption application at https://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will be contacted by our adoption coordinator via email after your application has been reviewed & approved to schedule an appointment. Story
Australian Cattle Dog-Kelpie Mix Spayed Female 1 year, 32 pounds Miss Pepper is all grown up now and back in our adoption program. She did great in her most recent home, except she would not stop herding the cat, so we’re seeking a feline-free environment this time around. She’s a spayed female Australian cattle dog, possibly kelpie, mix. Pepper is content at home, but loves to run and go for walks. She’s the perfect size at 32 lbs., and one year of age. Likes: Tummy rubs, giving kisses, watching wildlife and her favorite ball Dislikes: The vacuum cleaner, loud noises and being in a kennel Pepper is house trained and knows a handful of commands, but she might benefit from additional obedience and socialization, especially if she could find a similarly sized playmate to help burn her energy. She’s currently being boarded, so ideally, we’d like to find a home willing to foster her prior to adoption. We are willing to discount her adoption fee if we can find the right permanent home, one that will exercise her and keep her brain occupied. Pepper is shy at first, but once she knows you, she will bond quickly and want to cuddle. Adoption form available at nebraskanokill.org.  Suggested adoption donation: $300.00 April 10, 2024, 11:32 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information. Primrose is an adorable puppy who is full of personality, has one blue eye, and is a bundle of cuteness! She enjoys the company of others (both furry and human) and loves to play tug and fetch. She is making great progress with her crate and potty-training! As long as she gets her playtime and goes potty before bedtime, she will sleep through the night. She likes to start her day early and is a morning cuddlebug. She loves stuffed animals. She has the cutest butt wiggles and sweet little howl when she is feeling lonely. She gives all the appropriate signs when she needs something and is a wonderful puppy! She is currently learning 'sit' and to do it before she gets out of the crate, as well as before going outside for a potty break. She would love a furry companion to play 'keep away with', and tug, of course. She currently lives with a one 8 year old dog that she gets along great with, as well as two adults and a teenager. She can be a little shy at first but warms up quickly with a little reassurance and safety. She is curious about new sounds and likes to explore once she feels safe.Like any of our dogs, this sweet, beautiful girl would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that her breed needs.  Because of that, Prim's ideal owner will have prior GSD or other herding breed experience, and a friendly dog buddy.  Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember  that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners.   Prim's adoption fee is $425, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.April 12, 2024, 8:08 pm

Story
My story will break your heart but perhaps knowing some of the details would allow me to take credit for how far I've come in my healing journey.  My future is bright with a forever family who will show me the grace, love and consistency I need for success.  While I love to play with most other dogs, there are times when too much stimulation contributes to temporary insanity.  My humans will need to read my clues and advocate for my needs.  That may mean quiet time in a kennel or supervised couch snuggles.  My walking skills are improving remarkably but there are days when I'll need shorter, more frequent walks as opposed to one long walk. When my forever family establishes a consistent routine for me, kindly redirects my missteps and constantly rewards my wins,  my devotion, love and appreciation will overflow.  For more information, please email us at tchsPapillion@gmail.com or visit https://townandcountryhumanesociety.org/adopt/ Thanks to our amazing Angel Sponsors, our long term pups now come with reduced adoption fees, alleviating financial road blocks for some, and making it even easier to open your heart and home to a furry friend. The adoption fee is $100 plus tax and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission. If you have otherdogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with youwhen you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.*****We are currently operating by appointment only due to a shortage of personnel.   If you want tomeet this pet, please go to www.townandcountryhumanesociety.org and click Adopt.  Then scroll down toOnline Application and select Dog Application.   Your application will be reviewed and you will be contactedto set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will besupervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit. Ifyou have a dog or dogs currently, a meet and greet with the dog is also required but can be done at the sametime. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Humane Society and ourmission. ##1666777##

Story
Meet our adorable blue-eyed sweetheart, Tex! This charming boy, just shy of 7 months old, is eagerly awaiting his forever family! Currently being fostered until he finds his perfect match, he's already mastered the art of potty training and kennel etiquette (sleeping a solid 10 hours!). With a repertoire of basic commands like sit, get it, and potty, he's a quick learner eagerly awaiting to add 'wait' and 'leave it' to his skill set! Living harmoniously with both large and small dogs, as well as feline friends, he's a true social butterfly. Plus, he adores his human siblings and thrives on their affection! Ideal for an active household, this pup loves to stay on the move! Whether it's playing with his beloved humans and canine companions, burning off energy with zoomies, or solving dog puzzles for meals, he's always up for an adventure. Yet, when it's time to unwind, there's nothing he enjoys more than snuggling up on your lap. Tex is believed to be a mix of Aussie and Blue Heeler, so his boundless energy and keen intellect make him a perfect candidate for agility training or scent work. If you're an active family with a yard or someone ready to take on the challenge of training him for his dream job, Tex is the ideal companion for you! If you're ready to welcome this lovable pup into your home, don't hesitate to apply today! The adoption fee is $400.00, plus tax. The adoption fee covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have otherdogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with youwhen you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only due to a shortage of personnel. Hello! This is Zuko. He is a 3-year old mini Australian shepherd. He’s extremely sweet, gentle, and loves to play. He is good with other dogs (after getting used to them) and loves kids. Cons: he is a bit reactive (out of fear). He is scared or strangers and will bark at them. He also takes a while to warm up to other dogs but has no aggressive behavior. Once he’s used to people/other pets, he’s extremely friendly and gentle.

Story
Finnegan is a bundle of energy and probably has some sort of herding breed genes so needs a home with a fenced yard to run around in and someone to take him on regular walks or jogs! He loves playing with other dogs, doesn’t mind cats and hasn’t been shy around any people that we know of. Finnegan loves all the toys and chewing on them. He bounces off the furniture but can also settle down and snuggle up to you! He used to live in a situation where he could do whatever he wanted, so he needs lots of training. But with time and patience, he will be such a great companion! We hope you’ll give this silly boy a chance! Finnegan is a male Australian Kelpie/mix which is our best guess of breed. He likely has other breeds mixed in, he looks & plays like a fox! Finnegan was born approximately 3-5-23 and weighs 32 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease. Adoption fee is $350 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs.
