Story
Jack is a neutered, 7-month-old Australian Cattle dog, possibly Kelpie mix. He weighs about 20 lbs., so is not expected to be more than 35 lbs. at full size. This sweet guy loves being chased by his sister and going for walks. He enjoys watching wildlife and is learning to play fetch. His favorite things are small tennis balls, but he can’t be left alone with them, or he’ll eat all the fuzz off! Jack is friendly with people and other dogs. He is doing well with going outside to the bathroom, but just needs consistency from his humans. Jack knows how to sit and is a very smart boy. He walks well on a leash. This guy loves to cuddle and give kisses. Jack may bark at new people or other dogs, but if you sternly say, “No,” or use a squirt bottle to correct him, he will listen. Adoption form available at nebraskanokill.org.   Suggested adoption donation: $300.00 February 14, 2024, 1:33 am

This is my foster dog Stitch! Stitch is a 1.5 year old neutered male cattle dog mix. He is good with kids, most dogs, and some cats. Because of his past, Stitch is hesitant with most men. However, he is never aggressive towards them and warms up quickly. He is a high energy dog, but is more than happy to spend all afternoon watching tv with you. Stitch also LOVES to cuddle. He is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, house trained, and will come with all of the basics needed for a dog.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information. Pert and her litter mate were born outside to a Cattle Dog mom; she and her brother Reese were trapped and brought into rescue. Initially, she was understandably timid around people. However, she has come to know and love cuddles and family life, does great at events, and she is the cutest girl. Pert is an adorable and affectionate girl who loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home. One of her favorite activities is playing outside with the other dogs, and helping foster mom in the backyard, while watching the squirrels and birds. Pert really enjoys sleeping on her foster mom's lap and having a good cuddle.      Pert is potty trained and crate trained.  She likes to keep all of her toys and beds inside an exercise pen.  Pert can still be a bit shy and initially warms up faster to people who are calm, patient, and relatively quiet.  She's an adorable girl who loves to play and follow her person everywhere! She would do best in a home with another dog to teach her the ropes. Pert's adoption fee is $325, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.February 24, 2024, 12:48 pm

Story
ADOPT PINTO! Pinto is a sweet, 2 yr old mix breed, with long legs and about 40 lbs. He is a volunteer favorite. Pinto is a high energy, silly boy - he loves doing zoomies in the yard and chasing balls. He has had a rough start to life in Puerto Rico and because of that his understanding of the world is small. He will require an experienced owner who can fast track his socialization and manners. He has already learned so much from volunteers! Pinto is a baby puppy at heart trapped in a 2 year old body, still puppy behavior. Pinto loves people, kisses and hugs but will do best if kids in the family are older. He enjoys his dog friends. And boooy does he know how to use those big brown eyes to melt hearts! He would love a jogging partner. He is an energetic and intelligent boy who needs a structured home to enjoy life as an adored pet that he has never known! For more information, please email us at tchsPapillion@gmail.com or visit https://townandcountryhumanesociety.org/adopt/ Thanks to our amazing Angel Sponsors, our long term pups now come with reduced adoption fees, alleviating financial road blocks for some, and making it even easier to open your heart and home to a furry friend. ************** Courtesy Post**************** Meet Ollie, a friendly and energetic Australian Cattle dog/ terrier mix who is looking for his forever home. Ollie is about 55-60 lbs and was born around Oct 25th 2022. He is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. He is also crate trained and potty trained.  Ollie loves to play with other dogs and cats, although he might chase them sometimes but not hurt them. He is very affectionate and loyal to his people, and enjoys sleeping at the foot of the bed. He is a smart boy who knows basic commands and walks well on a leash, although he can pull a bit.   Ollie needs a home that can provide exercise and stimulation to keep him happy and healthy. He would do best in a home with a yard or an active owner who can take him on long walks in any weather. He is also a strong boy, so he might not be suitable for small children who he could knock over accidentally.   He is kenneled when no one is home because he is still a young dog that likes to chew.  He needs toys and bones to help him stay occupied.    Ollie is a wonderful family dog who just needs a little more training and attention. He is a well-loved boy who deserves a loving and caring home. If you are interested in adopting Ollie, please contact us today His adoption fee is $100All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.February 22, 2024, 6:33 pm

Story
Hi I’m a 4 year old, 55 lb Cattle Dog mix named Clara and my favorite thing is snuggling with my foster dad! I am all about loving my people and I am a very good girl although and vary between lazy and playful. I’m housebroken, crate trained and really prefer male dogs only. Other amazing things I have discovered in rescue are being petted and scratched, especially behind my ears. I aim to please my humans and always make sure I listen to them so I get my favorite thing in the whole world--affection! I should tell you that I lived for 2.5 years in a dog kennel run in boarding so I do love being free and in a fenced yard. I just know my perfect family is out there for me. I’m spayed, fully vetted and vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped, and ready for my happy ever after! Adoption fee is $300. So if you're looking for a happy, sweet, easy, and gentle girl please consider adopting me by applying at https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! February 26, 2024, 5:00 am

Story
March Madness is right around the corner, what a better time than to adopt a "Hooper"! Hooper is a handsome Toy Australian Shepherd. Currently he is presenting as incredibly bashful and unsure. As he gets more confident, we anticipate he will be much more energetic and more in need of an active partner. Hooper is very intelligent. A fenced yard is needed or he needs to be on a leash at all times because Australian Shepherds are known to go on walkabouts AKA being escape artists. He came to his foster home without any house training and did not have any indoor accidents after the fifth day except even he is in a kennel for now than 5 hours (see below). He is still very skittish and wary (which is not uncommon for a breeder dog). He will need a home that will understand that as much as he wants to be a lap dog, and he desperately wants to be given affection and give you affection, it's going to take a little bit more time with him. He loves treats. His favorite is Yummy Combs which is also terrific for his teeth. He does go in a kennel but he does not like being in the kennel. He would do best with a family that would not kennel him all day. He doesn't bark until he's been in the kennel for 4-5 hours, and he will have accidents after 5 hours. We think it's because he spent most of his life in a kennel, and he may not realize you're coming back. So if you are going to kennel him, please follow kennel training guidelines. He sleeps in the human bed and loves to just observe life around him. He can hold his bladder for 12 hours if you're home with him. Hooper prefers the cats in the house. You can watch all of Hooper's adventures as well as all the animals in the foster home on Instagram @leothewunderhund Hooper is a male Toy Australian Shepherd who was was born approximately 1-21-19 and weighs 12 lbs. Hooper is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed and started on heartworm prevention. Adoption fee is $575 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. If interested in adopting one of our available dogs or puppies, you must first complete an online adoption application at https://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will be contacted by our adoption coordinator via email after your application has been reviewed & approved to schedule an appointment. Our website is updated daily, pets that are listed are still available. ***If you are serious about adopting, you must first complete and submit an application on our website. Our Adoption Team will respond via email from DollysLegacyAdoptions@gmail.com once you have completed an application. If a pet is still listed, it is not yet adopted as we update daily.
