Story
Ellie was given to my husband 10 years ago. She has enjoyed living in a large open yard. My husband died of cancer 2 years ago. I have limited funds and can't take Ellie with me when I move in town. Ellie is approximately 15 years old. She has 3 large cyst. The most noticeable one is on her left shoulder. She is very with good people. She has never bit anyone. She will tear a raccoon or small animal apart. Physically, I would be unable to walk her. She wears a loose shock collar to keep her in her boundary and out of my neighbors garbage. The shock collar system will be given to anyone taking her.

Story
Weight: 65Lbs Meet Lucky Lou — our chonky little Border Collie mix with a heart as big as her adorable booty. 💛🐾 Lou is on a wellness journey (she prefers the term “fluff-forward”), so she’ll need a family committed to healthy habits, gentle encouragement, and maybe fewer “just one more treat” moments. She’s also got sensitive skin — especially on her back end, which came to us hairless, itchy, and uncomfortable. Careful shampoos, thoughtful food choices, and mild laundry soaps will help her feel her very best. Lou is independent and wonderfully self-sufficient. She doesn’t need constant fuss — she’s perfectly content doing her own thing — but with patience and kindness, her true personality starts to shine. And when it does? You’ll see her soft, loyal, quietly affectionate side that makes every bit of the journey worth it. She may need a little extra care, a little extra understanding, and a little extra time — but Lucky Lou lives up to her name. The family who gives her patience will be the lucky ones. 💕 Dogs: Must meet all pups in the home. Cats: Unknown Kids: no tiny tots

Story
Alder is an extremely sweet, quiet, shy boy. He is the dog version of an introvert. He is gentle and sticks to himself and is great with other dogs of all sizes and with cats. He doesn't engage much with them thought as he prefers to do his own thing. He has to be the most low maintenance and chill dog I've ever had in the rescue out of hundreds of dogs. He is hesitant with people he doesn't know but never aggressive. Not an ounce of aggression. He was listed as a pit bull mix at the shelter when he was smaller and still a younger puppy but now that he is an older puppy (about a year) it's obvious that he is not a pittie but looks more like a border collie. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative) Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
This spotted cutie is Waylon!Waylon has now been with us at FDHS for a while, and we’ve gotten to know him much better. With our staff, he’s a big giant baby and sweet as pie. Once he trusts you, he’s affectionate, sweet, and loves nothing more than being a lovebug.Waylon can be very cautious when meeting new people and will often bark or growl at first. Because of this, he’s going to do best in a home with rescue dog experience or adopters who are patient and willing to put in the time to earn his trust and help build his confidence. At this time, we don’t feel he would be a good fit for a home with children under 10.He’s shown a lot of curiosity about the other shelter dogs and seems interested in making friends. With proper introductions, we think he could do well in a home with other dogs and likely cats too. Waylon is a smart, young dog and very treat motivated, though he’s still learning to take treats gently. When he’s not zooming around the yard and burning off energy, Waylon is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle. He comes from energetic working-dog heritage, so an active home that’s committed to keeping both his brain and body busy will be key to his success. Waylon has been fully vetted and is available for immediate adoption. He’s just a sweet boy looking for his place in the world and a family to call his own.**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs 72 lbs**

Story
Caramelo is the sweetest little floofy girl! This adorable Australian Shepherd mix was recently found in the middle of a field near the state line. It was pretty clear this little lady had likely been dumped, which honestly just doesn’t make much sense to us once you meet her. Caramelo is about 6 to 7 months old and is very much ALL puppy. She’s a happy pup, but can be a little shy when meeting new people, likely because she hasn’t had a ton of training or socialization before coming into our care. With a little patience and kindness, her sweet personality really starts to shine through. Caramelo has shown quite a bit of reactivity towards other animals, and may be happiest as your one and only!As a young pup from an active breed, Caramelo will do best with a family ready to keep her brain and body busy. She’s at that perfect age where she’s ready to learn and grow into the best girl! And of course, we have to talk about the fluff. Caramelo’s beautiful coat will need daily brushing and routine grooming to keep it healthy and looking its best. Thankfully she’s pretty cute about the whole thing.Caramelo is still just a baby trying to figure the world out, and she would love a family to help her build confidence and show her what a good life looks like. If you’re in need of some puppy love, consider adopting Caramelo!
