Story
Meet Marco 🐠Marco here is believed to be a Border Collie / Jack Russell Terrier mix, but really, it’s hard to tell just what all breeds make up this unique looking fella. This lad is about 3 years old, but he seems to have an old man spirit. He will run around and play, but he does so in short bursts and doesn’t seem as energetic as you’d expect. He’s more of a low-key guy that doesn’t demand much from you, he just likes being your little background character that enjoys to watch and see what all is going on. We don’t know too much about this fella as he’s still pretty new here. We aren’t too sure how he does around other animals at this time. He seems mostly indifferent towards other dogs. In terms of people? He loves to spend time with you and get affection, on his own time. He mostly tends to keep to himself and is a very independent little fella. He takes a little time to warm up to new people and situations, but it doesn’t take him too long. With a little love and patience (and probably some food as bribery) Marco would make a perfect family companion. 🐾

Story
meet oreo, he’s a 2 year old australian shepherd mix who needs a home without children. he’s a big love bug who loves his adult companions however children tend to scare him and he can become quite aggressive with them. he is a really really sweet boy who will constantly seek attention from his owner and will attack with kisses and hugs, yes this dog will hug you. it’s important to also note that he does struggle with some food aggression and it’s best he is fed in his crate so he feels safer. he is completely fine as long as his food is not messed with while he is eating.

Story
Hi friends, I’m Resi!I would like to begin by saying that I am VERY busy. There are things to sniff. Things to investigate. Things to learn. People to impress. And, most importantly, WATER. I have places to be and splashing to do. I am a high energy, goofy little chaos gremlin and a firm believer that life is best lived at approximately 110% at all times. The staff here love me, because I am the best. I came to FDHS a few months ago after my family’s home burned down and they had nowhere else for me to go. Before that, I spent most of my life living on a tie out next to railroad tracks. When I first arrived, I was kind of a hot mess. I had not exactly been given much opportunity to learn how to be a well rounded dog, so I needed some help with my manners and figuring out this whole “being a gentleman” thing. Luckily, I’ve had some pretty great people in my corner and I’ve made a LOT of progress. Now, let’s discuss my greatest passion: WATER. I LOVE WATER. I want to swim in it, splash in it, investigate it, and wallop around in it all day. I am convinced I was a mermaid in a previous life and I would like to return to my aquatic roots. I’m also interested in making some animal friends! I’ve been friendly with other dogs through the kennel and have shown interest in playing. I’m polite but curious around the cats in the catio, too. New people are a little more complicated. I didn’t get much practice with them growing up, so I can be shy and standoffish until I decide you are one of the good ones. Treats help tremendously. In fact, I am willing to reconsider almost any opinion in exchange for snacks.I do have some things my future family will need to understand. I LOVE food. Perhaps a little too much. I can gobble down my meals and have been known to resource guard my food bowl and high value treats. I do great with a slow feeder and prefer to enjoy my meals peacefully in my kennel. My future family will need to respect my boundaries around food and continue helping me build confidence and trust.I’m looking for an active family who understands my breed, enjoys a dog with a little extra horsepower and is ready to keep teaching me. I’ve been through some really hard things, but I have a LOT of life left to live, and I’m hoping my forever family is out there ready to keep up!**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 40 lbs**

Story
Hello future friends, my name is Thistle!I’m a tiny Australian Shepherd mix, probably only about a year old, and I’m still learning that the world isn’t quite as scary as I once thought. I came to FDHS as a stray after being found by our local Dog Warden. I arrived in pretty rough shape, with patches of fur missing and the rest covered in fleas and debris. I was terrified of people at first, but after a few days, the humans here finally earned my trust and I even got a much needed bath!I’m still a shy girl, especially around new people and situations. I think I need someone who understands that slow and steady is the way to my heart. Once I trust you, I’m an entirely different dog. I LOVE being snuggled and held, and I want to be glued right to my favorite human’s side. Belly rubs and yummy treats are also helping me realize that these two legged creatures might actually be pretty awesome.I’ve shown interest in other animals and would likely enjoy having some furry friends. I’m looking for someone patient and kind who is willing to give me the time I need to blossom. Rescue experience would be wonderful, but all you really need is a little patience, a lot of love and the willingness to let me find my confidence. I promise, once I do, you’ll have one very loving little shadow by your side.
